Sony is dropping the price of their VR headset for the second time in the hardware's history, slashing the price on VR bundles by $100, starting tomorrow. There have been some drops and dips in the past, but Sony is saying that this $100 drop will be permanent.
The headset alone is only dropping by fifty bucks, coming down from $349 to $299, which is great, but the bundles are where the big savings are going to come in, and there are a couple options so you can pick the one with a game you actually like, instead of just some crap they force you to take to get the bundle price.
The DOOM VR package has the PSVR headset, a PlayStation Camera, the Demo Disc 2.0 and the “VFR” version of DOOM, that will go for $299 (same price as just the headset after the price drop), and DOOM VFR was pretty well received overall, so if you need to scratch your FPS itch, this is probably the way to go.
Then again, if you want first person but don't want to mow things down with plasma bursts and bullets, you can go for the Skyrim VR bundle, which will retail for $349.99. This may sound like a ripoff, but although the Elder Scrolls 5 bundle is more expensive than the DOOM bundle, it comes with everything the DOOM bundle comes with (minus the game, of course) and it also comes with two PlayStation Move controllers as well.
