For the finale of this season's Batman run from Telltale, we've been building towards the conclusion of the John Doe storyline (who we all know is one day going to be the Joker) and I am loving the way that Telltale is handling it. Sure, they've switched things up, with Penguin as a skinny jeans wearing karate kid, and Harley as a more assertive, brutal aggressor, etc., but this plotline is really just flying in the face of everything you've ever read or seen about Batman and his arch-enemy, and why the hell not? Why not make a big move? It's not like it's cannon.
So far, the Joker we have is a slightly confused, slightly vicious, eager to please man named John Doe, who is also extremely susceptible to suggestion. The way his future plays out is a direct result of how Batman and Bruce Wayne have treated him, and it's great to mold this character by your actions. Obviously the Telltale games are all about choice, but this is outside anything they've done before. Joker as a crime-fighter, almost standing in for Robin... what an idea.
Give these two trailers a watch, they are both very well done, and both present some pretty fantastic possibilities.
