The Predator trailer has finally arrived, and I gotta tell you, it ain't looking so great. Let's get this out of the way real quick; I love Shane Black. Sure, Iron Man 3 sucked, but check this out (deep breath) Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon 1, Lethal Weapon 2, The Last Boyscout, The Nice Guys... huh. Guess I didn't really need the "deep breath", but still, those are quality films! KKBB is still one of my favorite comedies, period, and don't get me started on Lethal Weapon. Point being, I have a lot of faith in this guy. Also, fun fact: Shane Black played supporting character Rick Hawkins in the original Predator. History can be fun!

But this trailer looks duuuuuuuuumb. Predators in suburbia? Why can't people figure out that this should be like 2/3 action and 1/3 horror? How hard is that? AVP had so much potential, and then they screwed it alllllll up. Those films should have been the pinnacle, and with the right director, they could have been. Humans vs aliens vs predators... it should have been a sci-fi tale for the ages. Instead, we got too piss poor flicks with so much shaky cam you couldn't tell what was happening, and it mostly looked like someone had tossed aliens and predator toys into a dryer with a camera then turned it on. In short, terrible.

Predators was a little better, but not a ton, but at least it killed Topher Grace's career. Whoever in Hollywood keeps trying to cast Topher Grace as a killer needs to stop. He couldn't pull off Venom, and even though he does ok as a creepy thin white dude who is also a serial killer, why the hell would you include that in the film? Why would a guy who kills people with syringes be a good idea here? It's not. It's a terrible idea, it didn't work and now everyone looks stupid, don't they?

In any event, now we have the Shane Black version coming, which I've been super stoked for. Then I read the synopsis:

"A young boy accidentally triggers the Predators to return to Earth. The universe’s most lethal hunters have genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. Only a crew of former soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can stop the hunters before anybody becomes their prey."

Then I watched the trailer below, which I have added for your "viewing pleasure" below. I dislike tossing something out based on hype/trailers, but this looks not good to me. At all.

What do you think? Am I off my rocker? Does this somehow look badass, and I'm just missing it? Let me know in the comments, The Predators  releases in theaters
