Cooperative sci-fi RPG Those Who Came releases its biggest update adding new maps and mechanics

Cooperate with other players to heal a planet for your people to live in

RollDBox Games announces today that is cooperative space-RPG Those Who Came is getting its biggest update since releasing last October in Early Access. The X-MASS Update, now available, adds new maps, tweaks some existing mechanics as well as includes a significant number of quality of life improvements and bug fixes. Those Who Came is available on Steam for €19,99 / $24.99 and you can check its latest trailer below these lines:

The new patch features a very relevant change in the way that elemental powers are introduced to players in sci-fi adventure like Those Who Came, where technological innovations should define everything. In order to reinforce the sense of immersion, Sainen "magics" will now be called "energies". The X-MASS Update will also feature some adjustments in their functioning and individual tutorial stages to learn more about each of them. Here's a short reminder:

  • Airy: Levitation. Creates energy flows that make the player ascend and be able to access unreachable areas. It also prevents them from big falls.
  • Firei: Glowing Orb. The Firei energy becomes a light in the darkness, and can melt down certain objects.
  • Ether: Shade. Ether gives the players the ability to reshape themselves or other objects. This is useful to go through walls and strong structures to reach new areas.
  • Jointer: Object transmutation. Jointer empowers your companions and creates new paths by energizing the environment.

Players will learn these energies starting from level 1, at the beginning of their journey, until reaching level 50. Practice will be the key to a deeper knowledge of this technology. The learning process will be increasingly difficult, so there's a small chance of mastering them all. But perhaps, it will make you more useful for the rest of Sainen!

The X-MASS Update also adds new areas of Solarus to explore, more story content and, also, new flexible requirements for multiplayer quests — such as lowering the number of players needed — and a first glimpse into the expected single-player mode for exploration missions. Of course, there are bug fixes too! You can read the whole list of changes in this link.

ABOUT THOSE WHO CAME

Those Who Came is a cooperative survival RPG where you will have to work as a team to survive and thrive on a hostile planet. You are one of the last Sainen -- a species who nearly faced extinction after their planet collapsed. Hoping for their kind to survive this cataclysmic event, they sent forth a ship full of explorers, frozen in a cryogenic state. After detecting a suitable planet, more than two centuries later, your mission began: to tame the deadly planet of Solarus and build a new home for your people. But you won't be alone. You will have to work with the Torek, the native species of Solarus, to bring the planet back to life, forging a deep and strong connection in the process.
