Lesser Evil, the publisher of Death From Above, has donated the first 10,000 euros to Ukrainian charities.

Munich, June 15th. Lesser Evil, the publisher of Death From Above, is proud to announce the first donation of revenues from the game to our chosen charities two weeks after the release! This week, we have sent €7,500, split evenly between Come Back Alive and Army of Drones, both organizations helping Ukraine's people survive and fight the Russian invasion.

We’re also making a special, one-off donation of €2,500 to help the victims of the Russian war crime attack on the Nova Kakhovka dam, which has devastated civilian areas with flooding. This donation will go to Rescue Now, a Ukrainian charity helping evacuate people from the affected region.

Our business model for Death From Above was developed with a balance of ongoing development and charity donation. Until we break even on development costs, we’ll send 30% of our net revenues to charity. Once we’ve covered our costs, 70% will go to charity, with the remaining 30% covering all future game development.

“I was overwhelmed with the positive reception Death From Above received from gamers; after releasing our game in Early Access nearly three weeks ago, the overall review score keeps holding on to 99% positive! Simply put, this is amazing, and I must express my gratitude to everyone who gave our cause a chance, played Death from Above, and reviewed it on Steam. Following this positive feedback, we are doing what we promised, and so we are making our first donation of 7,500 € to our partner charities. This donation is only the first of what we hope will be many - all made possible because of the support of our players. Together, we’ll have an impact, guys!” said Lesser Evil CEO Hendrik Lesser.

“Lesser Evil " was founded on anti-authoritarianism, anti-racism, and pro-democracy principles. Death From Above is our first game and a powerful testament to our mission, planned from the start as a fund and awareness-raising project for the people of Ukraine. We see this donation as concrete proof that games can be an active force for good in the world. Operators, we salute you!” adds Hendrik Lesser.

We’ll also attend the DevGamm conference in Vilnius on June 20th and 21st. DevGamm is a conference that originated in Ukraine in 2008 and now has events in Latvia, Portugal, and the UK. We’ll participate in the People’s Choice award showcase on the first day, June 20th, with Death From Above appearing in the associated Steam event from June 20th - 25th.

Charity Partners

Our €10 000 donation will be split between our Ukrainian charity partners: Come Back Alive, Army of Drones, and Rescue Now!.

"Come Back Alive" is the biggest Foundation providing competent assistance to Ukrainian defenders since 2014. Their goal is to preserve the lives of Ukrainian defenders in the face of an invading force by purchasing the necessary equipment and delivering it to the frontlines so that they can save civilian lives. The foundation supplies thermal imaging devices, generators, radios, GPS navigators, UAVs, cars, body armor, and protective, communication, and intelligence equipment. The foundation’s instructors train the military in controlling drones, mine safety, and tactical medicine.

“Army of Drones” is a joint comprehensive project of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Communications Service, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which organizes and conducts procurement of UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), supplies them to the military, trains operators to fly drones and supports Ukrainian startups and manufacturers in the field of UAVs to develop the military-tech sector in Ukraine

Our admiration drove the choice of these charities for their exceptional work in defending the people of Ukraine with non-aggressive methods. Their dedication to the Ukrainian cause has touched and saved countless lives, making a tangible difference in a country under attack from a government rooted in oppression and expansion.

“Rescue Now” is a humanitarian organization that provides immediate relief and long-term solutions to war-affected people.

While the Ukrainian military is defending our freedom, civilians are stranded in war zones with no chance to leave their hometowns due to constant bombings and shootings. We have an opportunity and desire to help them. But to continue doing so, we need your support.

Slava Ukraini!
