March 21st, 2025 – Infold Games has officially announced the upcoming Version 1.4 update for Infinity Nikki, following a teaser trailer debut at the Future Game Show Spring Showcase last night. Now, with the full trailer officially released, players can get a deeper look at the exciting new chapter, packed with fresh content, engaging events, and an immersive storyline.
Set to launch on March 26th, Version 1.4: Revelry Season introduces the Wish Carnival Party, a new event where the very heart of celebration, the Carnival Mask, makes its appearance. Only the Carnival King is permitted to wear the mask, so join Nikki and Momo as they watch the joyous spectacle unfold. The Wish Carnival party takes place on Floating Wish Isle, Revelry Season expands the vibrant world of Infinity Nikki with an extraordinary reimagining of the isle, celebrating the Faewish sprites that imbue the world with its whimsy.
This news comes after a breakthrough GDC for the Infold team. With the development team attending in force, the assistant director of Infinity Nikki, Kentaro Tominaga, delivered a talk speaking about teaching level design for Infinity Nikki for first-time designers. The talk focuses on how to break down barriers between development teams, generational, linguistic, and experiential.
Highlights of Tominaga-san's talk include:
-
Overcoming Language & Generational Barriers: How the Infinity Nikki team used machine translation tools, dedicated interpreters, and in-person meetings to facilitate communication between Japanese and Shanghai-based developers.
-
Training First-Time Level Designers: How new designers were encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and understand the reasoning behind design choices to improve their problem-solving and creative decision-making skills.
-
Building a Feedback Repository: Showing a structured system compiled key design discussions, allowing team members to reference past decisions and maintain consistency in level design across the project.
-
Iterative Development of Momo Search: Playtesting revealed usability issues, leading the team to refine the feature so players could easily track objectives without disrupting the gameplay experience.
-
Collaborative Success in Infinity Nikki: Through structured communication, iterative feedback, and shared learning, the team successfully trained new designers and completed Infinity Nikki, showcasing a strong, adaptive development process.
Fans of the game who weren't able to attend GDC are able to view the presentation in the GDC Vault starting April 5th, 2025.
