Mario Kart fans have been waiting for a new spin-off for a long time, but so far in vain, so it's even nicer that more and more kart games are appearing. In my review, I would like to tell you how the latest game from developer Eden Games and publisher Microids, who were also responsible for Garfield Kart, plays.
Maps and characters
A total of 12 tracks from the Smurfs universe await you in The Smurfs Kart. The tracks are beautifully detailed and colorfully designed, the different tracks such as the village or Gargamel's house provide plenty of variety. There are 12 Smurfs available as characters, unfortunately neither Gargamel nor Azrael became a playable character, but you can look forward to Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Hefty, Jokey, Sturmi, Clumsy, Smurfflower, Wind-up Smurf, Cook Smurf, Farmi and Astro Smurf. Each Smurf has its own cart and a very handy special item.
Game modes and multiplayer
The performance was very stable in my test, although we only get a maximum of 30 FPS on the Switch, but it is smooth and clean. The graphics turned out surprisingly well and still look nice on the TV. On the PlayStation 5, the game runs smoothly at 60 FPS, but it looks a bit better on the Switch because you can see the details better and the colors look much better. The tracks, the characters, the karts and items have been designed cutely. You can tell that a lot of love was put into this. The soundtrack is very successful and creates a good atmosphere and fun while driving.Graphics and sound
