Metroid:

All was happy in the Galactic Federation of the planets, that is, until
something happened. A space pirate vessel discovered the metroid on
planet SR388. Oh, but this wasn't just any extraterrestrial entity, it
was unique in the fact that it could actually suck the energy out of a
lifefrom and use it as it's own, this was how it feed.

The space pirates took one of the specimens, not without a heavy loss of
life though. They planned to rule the galaxy with them! The Galactic
Federation sent in a special bounty hunter, one that was feared
throughout the cosmos, Samus Aran.

She battled her way through Zebes, the homeworld where the pirates were
breeding the metroids. After killing Kraid and Ridly she found herself
at the MotherBrain, the head of all the Space Pirates. After a long and
ferious battle she stood at the surface victorous, she had destroyed
Mother Brain and the HQ, Tourain.

Metroid II: Return of Samus:

After the fiasco at Zebes a special squad was sent into SR388, the
homeplanet of the metroids. Their mission was to kill every metroid on
the planet so something like that could never happen again. The troops
were never heard from again. Since Samus knew how to handle them she was
sent in alone to do the job.

At the end she found that the metroid she knew of was just one species,
one of many! Each new species was more tougher to kill than the last,
and the very last ones were damn near impossible! But after lots of
fights she came to the final room, the one with the Queen Metroid. A
long battle ensued and Samus once again stood on the brink of death, but
she was victorius.

While traveling back to her ship she noticed that her Metroid Meter was
at"1." She found a single egg, before her eyes it hatched and a larva
metroid came out. It clung to Samus, but not with it's tentacles, hungry
for energy. But as if Samus was it's mother...it had imprinted Samus and
was tame! It thought Samus was it's mother!

Metroid III: Super Metroid:

Aran turned the metroid into the Galactic Federation, hoping that it
could benifit humanity with it's energy saving abilities. She was right,
the scientists there found that it could hold energy and store it away
like a bear does fat, the possiblities!

As Samus' ship was pulling away from the Asteroid Field she heard a
distress signal, from the space station with the metroid! Docking into
it she noticed that no one asked her to identify herself, or even ask
for clearence. The doors opened and she gasped, bodies were all over the
place! She looked for the baby metroid, she found it...in Ridly's hands!

After a battle with the thought to be dead dragon, the ship was set to
self destruct and Ridly and Samus flew away. Samus followed Ridly to a
rebuilt, and larger...Zebes.

2) Basics
---------

You may like the default setting, but I suggest you turn it like this,
it's a lot easier to control in my opinion:

Jump: B button

Dash: A button

Item Cancel: X button

Aim Gun Diagonally up: R button

Aim Gun Diagonally down: L button

Item Select: Select button

Pause: Start

Moving: D-pad

Jumping Techniques:

Pressing left or right while jumping will cause Samus Aran to perfrom a
spinning jump. It's not as high as a regular jump, but it gains more air
time and is more accurate for those platforming times

Do The Wall Jump:

As the Etecoons will teach you later, jumping on a wall and then press
jump and the control stick in the opposite direction will result in a
wall jump. Use this to climb long shafts with no platforms.

Moon Walking:

If you have the charge beam charge it up and then press the opposite
direction you're facing and then fire! You'll move backwards and fire.
Although, I haven't found this terribly useful.

Speed Dash:

Press the dash button and Samus will run as fast as she's capable. This
is good for running over dissappearing blocks and for running away from
trouble. This is also the way in which you activate the speed booster
when you have it, although it takes some room to charge up.

Doors and Gates:

Doors and gates are all different colors, and it takes something to open
them. Find out what in this list

Blue - Anything will open this.
Red - Five missiles or one super missile
Green - one super missile
Orange - Blast from a power bomb
Grey - Must destroy all creatures in the room
Gates - Shoot the colored part of it, determine what to shoot by the
color.

----------------------------
3) Tricks, Tips, and Secrets
----------------------------

Special Beam Attacks:

There are four secret weapons in the game. Here's how to activate them.
Make sure the power bomb icon is highlighted and that you have at least
one of them. Equip the charge beam and ONE other beam. Charge the charge
beam and the special attack will occur. Here's what you can get.

Ice - You are protected by an ice shield, anything that touches it will
be damaged

Plasma - Four balls of plasma circle you and then blow away

Spazer - large beams fire away from you like shrapnel

Wave - Four balls circle you and then blow away

Turbo Bomb Technique:

If you have the morphing ball and some bombs try this out! Morph and
then set bombs, when they blow up you will bounce a few feet up. If you
time it just right you can make yourself go several 100 feet up. Using
this technique you can get many items earlier than you're supoosed too.

Five Bombs at Once:

Charge up the charge beam and then morph into a ball, you will lay five
bombs at once, spread out. This is useful for taking out lots of blocks
at once. It would be cool if you could do this with power bombs =)

Charge Attack:

Charge up the charge beam and then do a spin jump, you will become a
weapon. It's kinda like the Screw Attack, just not as powerful. Strong
enemies can still hurt you, but weakers ones will be sliced to bits.
Useful against Phantom.

Grappling Energy:

If you need some energy and weapons get in front of those pipe creatures
and let them come out at you, grapple them with the grappling beam and
they will be killed. You can also pick up the stuff they leave behind!
Cool, huh?

Ultra Jump:

Power up the speed booster so you're running at full speed, push down
and then jump. You will rocket into the air until you hit something!
Although this uses energy, the longer air time means more enemgy taken
away. You can also jump diagonally using R and L. This move is critical
if you want to finish the mission...or at least get 100% items.

Crystal Ball Flash:

This is top secret! It will refill all of your enegy tanks by meeting
certain conditions. You MUST have 29 or fewer units of energy remaining,
10 or more missiles, 10 or more super missiles, and 11 or more power
bombs. Select the power bomb, turn into a ball, and hold the L, R, and
shot buttons down while press down on the pad. Useful if you can't find
any energy stations.

Better Endings:

Finish the game in better time and you will see more and more of
Samus...kinda like stripe poker =) Seriously though, it is. The best
ending (under 3 hours I believe) lets you see Samus Aran in a
bikini...whoohoo!

Better Endings 2:

It's pretty stupid, and it really doesn't give you a better ending, it's
just a neat thing to do. When you're escaping from Zebes go to where you
picked up the Bomb item, you'll find your buddies: The Etecoons and the
Dachola. Shoot out the right wall and they can escape. If you haven't
noticed, when the planet explodes in all of it's mighty glory, you can
just make out their ship escaping to the right of the screen. Not very
much, but still.

Bunch of kick ass glitches:

It's at the Metroid DataBase, the best metroid site on the net!

4) Items
--------

Missile:
The most common item of all, missiles are Samus' main attack. They are
some what weak but a few shots will have anyone killed. Total: 230

Super Missile:
Super Missiles have the power of five missiles, they are fast, accurate,
and best of all, lethal. Total: 50

Power Bomb:
Everything on the entire screen will be destroyed, unless the creatures
are too strong for it. Total: 50

Energy Tank:
Each tank can hold 100 units, there are 14 in all.

Reserve Tank:
When the energy tanks are empty they refuel them to a certain extent
Total: 4

Bomb:
Once you find this item you will have infinite bombs. They can blow up
blocks and weak creatures.

Morphing Ball:
This allows Samus to turn into a small ball. Now you can explore tight
passageways.

Charge Beam:
With this you can charge your beam attack into something more powerful

Spazer:
Increased the width and power of your beam attack

Varia Suit:
With this you can go into hot areas, plus it increases your defense by
50%. Sounds like an RPG, huh?

X-Ray Scope:
This allows you to see through walls. Although some areas are still
invisible.

Hi-Jump Boots:
Samus can now jump nearly twice as high as before

Speed Booster:
With this, and plenty of room to charge it up, Samus can run at
lightening fast speed. During this time you can mow down baddies and
blow up special blocks.

Ice Beam:
Freeze a creature and then blow it up! Or maybe you can use it as a
platform, or just plain ignore it. After a few seconds they thaw out.

Grappling Beam:
Using this, you can hook onto certain blocks and swing yourself like
Tarzan! Very useful.

Wave Beam:
Increases the area of the beam, it also goes through walls. You can open
up gates from the wrong side with this too!

Screw Attack:
Once aquired you can spin like a super charged buzzsaw, cutting through
creatures and unstable rocks.

Gravity Suit:
This makes you be able to go into water as if it weren't there, and it
increases Defense by 75%

Spring Ball:
As a ball you can now jump.

Space Jump:
You can jump again and again after a jump, hard to put into words.
You'll know what I mean when you do it.

Plasma Beam:
The most powerful beam in the game, almost at least, it's a concentrated
beam of hot plasma.

Hyper Laser:
Beat the game and you'll see, even Mother Brain is cannon fodder at the
hands of this powerful weapon. Since everything is five times as
powerful as the last, I'm assuming each blast has the power of five
super missiles.

Save Point:
Take a wild guess what this does

Map Computer:
Gives you all of the maps of the particular level. However, some areas
are still hidden until you find them.

Energy Charge:
Refills all energy tanks.

Missile Charge:
Rifills all missiles, I want a super missile charge! =)

you find an elevator. Go to the bottom. Go left for the Morphing Ball.
Turn right and shoot down at the floor and go down to the next room with
some missiles (M: 5). Go back to the breakable floor blocks and enter
the red door, at the end is another stack of missiles (M: 10).
Go back up Crateria.

Now that you have the Ball you can get into the little tunnel, go to the
end and fight Chozo, you will get the Bomb item. Get out of there and
clean out the doors in the shaft, you will find a save, a map computer,
and some missiles (M: 15). On that note, go to the room before the
elevator and bomb where the Mother Brain used to be, you will find a
room with some missiles (M: 20).

From the Chozo area, bomb the place to the left to find a door. Go down
the hallway, just keep going left until you get to a place with two red
doors on either side. Open them both but go into the left one. Along
the way you would've found an energy tank (E: 1). At the end is an
elevator, take it down to Brinstar.

Boss: Spore Spawn and Kraid

Take the first red door on the right, it has a stack of missiles (M:
25). Go back out and fall to the bottom, blow open both red doors. Enter
the left and go to the end for a missile recharger, you'll need it. Go
back out and to the right door, follow the hall to a large room.

Jump on the upper platform and follow the path to a door, open it,
defeat all of the KiHunters to open the metal door. Go in and defeat
Spore Spawn, use his dead head to move upwards. Fall down the last pipe
to get your first ever super missiles (SM: 5). Use them to make your
exit via stage left.

Go upwards and get in the little valley where all of the sidehoopers
are. Use the wall jump to reach some early missiles at the top (M: 30).
Drop down and go to the very bottom of the room, there are some missiles
waiting (M: 35). Bomb the obvious blocks to find a hidden cavern with
the Charge Beam, a useful add-on to your cannon. Go through the narrow
tunnel above the blocks to find a green room.

Run down the edges and be careful of the creatures that come out of the
pipes. One of the pipes are really fake, at the end is a pack of
missiles (M: 40). Follow the path to the right, all the way until you
reach a red area. Go down, when you get to a dead end bomb it, but be
careful of the squid. At the bottom are two doors, take the right. BTW,
the left is an energy station. Follow all the way to right until you
reach an elevator, go down it and head into the pits of Norfair, but
only for awhile.

Norfair

Key Information

Special Items: Speed Booster, Screw Attack, Hi-Jump Boots, Wave Beam,
Ice Beam, and Grappling Beam
Save Units: 6
Energy Charge Units: 2
Missile Charge Units: 2
Energy Tanks: 4
Reserve Tanks: 1
Missiles: 15
Super Missiles: 1
Power Bombs: 3
Bosses: Crocomire, Golden Chozo, Silver Space Pirates, and Ridely

You only need to get to one room, the door at the very bottom at the
left, Inside are missiles (M: 45), an energy tank (E: 2), and the Hi-
Jump boots. Go back up to the elevator.

Shoot the blocks to the right with Super Missiles and they will break
open, jump to the top of the large platform. Bomb around and eventually
you will make it to a room with lots os Ki Hunter, take them all out.
Bomb around to find the entrance to a long hallway, at the end is the
one and only Mini-Kraid! If you need any help, after him shoot the
ceiling in the next room for a missile charge and an energy charge.
Defeat the eye door and Kraid, collect the Varia Suit. Go back into
Norfair, now you can explore the heat rooms without taking damage!

On the way back to the elevator don't forget to open the silver door
that is now flashing, in it is a room with a hidden energy tank in the
ceiling (E: 3). When back in Norfair, go to the first door on your
right. In the lava room with the many Gerutas is a missile clutch, it's
in the lava though so you'll have to waste some energy (M: 50).

Eventually you'll make it to the bubble room, go to the very right to
find a secret cache of missiles in a room (M: 55). Go down the maze like
section full of enermies to infd two doors, go down the one in the
floor. Go all the way down the shaft and enter the door on the right,
follow the path through the Magdollites and enter the next door,
continue right. Make a complete circle until you get a choice of
multiple doors.

Choose the one after the first one, in this room cross the falling
platforms while avoiding the fireballs. At the end is a blue gate, shoot
it. You're reward is some missiles (M: 60). Go back to the path until
you get to the bubble path again, go through the green door to enter a
room with three Skrees. Shoot the ceiling to reveal a secret passage,
follow the path. Dash through this insane room to get to a red door,
shoot above it for a secret cache of missiles (M: 65).

Inside the red door is the much needed Speed Booster, use it to get back
to the bubble room. If you're good at the wall jump you'll be able to
get to the very top door, if not then use the Ice Bem later to freeze
the enemies for steps! Inside you'll find a room with a Geruta and some
missiles (M: 70). Defeat him and then bomb the grey thing so it rises,
get into the secret path and find a door. This next room is very
hazardous to your health, the last platfrom before the Reserve Tank (RT:
1) is fake, bomb it for a missile cluster (M: 75).

Go back through the maze thingie and when you get a choice of two doors,
take the one in the wall. Use the Speed Booster to rip through the
blocks and enemies, you'll then find yourself back near the elevator
shaft. Climb up and take the third door on the right, or across from the
door to the first heat room.

Use the Speed Booster to rocket to the end of this place, you need it
because of the quickly closing doors. Follow the path, and go up the
twisting path where there are fireball throwing creatures. Before
exiting the room bomb and hold right to discover a secret door, blast it
open to find the Ice Beam. Go up the elevator to Brinstar.

Go right, after passing the tubes of Maridia there is a room, before
exiting shoot up. Jump up there and go to the room, it holds the Spazer.
Ideally, I usually get this before venturing into Norfair. You need the
Hi-Jump boots though. Use the Ice Beam to make your way up the long, red
shaft. At the very tip-top is a door, enter it. When you start to go up
again bomb for a secret path downwards, here you will collect the power
bomb (PB: 5).

Lay a power bomb and the wall behind the Chozo will go away, here is
another stockpile of missiles (M: 80). Go back to the shaft, the door
before the elevator holds giant Side Hoppers. Power Bomb the room and
the floor will collapse, the last flower in the room is really a tunnel
to some power bombs (PB: 10). Head up the elevator, now we're back in
Crateria!

Go up and shoot everything you can, head left. Now you're back where you
started this game, you just did a giant circle! But now it's time to
collect some items we couldn't get before. Do an Ultra Diagonal Jump to
the upper right hand corner of the screen to find a door, at the end of
the room are some power bombs (PB: 15). Do the same to the upper right
hand corner to find a secret hallway with rising and lowering lava,
prepare to come near death.

Lay power bombs to defeat the creatures and blow away the blocks, at the
end is an energy tank (E: 4). Blow away the floor for some even more
rooms, at the end are breakable blocks. On either side on the way down
are two missiles (M: 85) and (M: 90). You'll have to go through twice
though...go to the place where you fell forever, above the door at the
very bottom is a ledge, bomb it to find a yellow door. Get though it,
freeze the Boyons and do an Ultra Jump up the shaft, at the top are some
super missiles (SM: 10).

Go back to those two red doors, take the elevator to Brinstar. Go to the
first red door on your right again, use the speed booster to go to the
very end. Inside you'll find a Reserve Tank (RT: 2). Go through a secret
tunnel to find a missile (M: 95). Bomb behind it for some more (M: 100).
Go back outside and shoot above the door, at the end is not only the
exit to this room, but some super missiles (SM: 15).

Drop down to the bottom of the shaft, power bomb it. At the bottom is a
door, take it. Now this is gonna be tricky, when you see an energy tank
don't run for it. Instead, jump over the invisible hole and collect it
(E: 5). In the door behind it is a super missile (SM: 20). Now drop into
the invisible hole, this room is kinda dangerous. Take all the time you
need to clear it.

At the end are the Ectecoons, wall jump all the way to the top. Enter
the small tunnel to find some power bombs (PB: 20). Then again, you
might want to do this when you have the Spring Ball, it's easy. Now go
to the big, open room. Where you got the missles by wall jumping, near
it is an invisible wall. Enter it, inside is a room with giant Side
Hoppers. At the end, shoot a super missile at the piece of the floor
that looks different from the rest, you'll collect some power bombs (PB:
25). Bomb outta here. Now run back to Norfair!

Go to where you got the Ice Beam, but when you are Speed Boosting
through the gates, at the end you will break some floor. This is a
secret passage down. Foolow it, when you get to a room where you are
just barely standing on a platform...STOP! Freeze a creature below and
use it for a platform, all of the others are fake. Shoot the wall and
some missiles will appear, jump to them via the frozen creature (M:
105).

Go to the bottom and go through the door. This is gonna be cool, Speed
Boost through all of the enemies and blocks to land on a green door at
the end. Drop through it, battle with Crocomire and win! Go left, fall
down the room and then down the shaft. The room through the red door has
some easy missiles (M: 110).

Drop down to the really big room, clear out all of the blocks with a
power bomb. Do an Ultra Jump straight up to get some missiles (M: 115).
Do an Ultra spin jump to the other side of the room to find the
Grappling Beam, use it to get out of this place. When you get to the
room after the shaft, use it on the Ripper to gain acess to the red door
in the corner. Inside is a power bomb (PB: 30). Back at Crocomire's
place, use the Grappling Beam on the blocks behind where he died to get
an energy tank (E: 6).

Now, when you are above where you entered Crocomire's place keep going
up, enter the uppermost door. Go up the platforms and grapple on over to
a ledge with a gate, a door, and some missiles (M: 120). Now you're back
at the elevator shaft! It's time to update our beam, so go through all
of the booster blocks to get back to the bubble room. Circle around
until you're to the room before getting back to the bubble room, enter
the door at the top and get on over to the empy missile pedastle.
Grapple on over to the ledge for the Wave Beam. Return to Brinstar.

Go up the long, red shaft (that was not meant to be sick, you perverts!
=)). When you get brack to Crateria go right instead of left, not that
you have the Grappling Beam you can go over the blocks. You will get
some missiles too (M: 125). Now we are at the area before the Wrecked
Ship! Go into the water, and go to the very left wall, albeit slowly.
Bomb here for a secret passage, at the end is a missile batch (M: 130).
Go back up, make your way across the platforms until you reach the
Wrecked Ship!

Energy Tank: 1
Reserve Tank: 1
Missiles: 3
Super Missiles: 2
Power Bombs: 0
Boss: Phantoon

When you first come into the Wrecked Ship it will be real dark and
moody, this is because the power is turned off. The only creature that
will attack you is the Koben, a ghost-like creature. Just move around a
lot and you'll be fine. When you're dropping down the shaft, bomb on the
2nd ledge on the left, inside is a secret soom is some missiles (M:
130). Go all the way down, when you reach a floor, bomb to find a door.
Enter it, go right and bomb for a passage. Go in and defeat Phantoon, an
octopus-like boss.

When vanquished the power will be turned on, and a ton of metal doors
have been activated. Also, strange balls of energy have been released
from their holding places. One of the metal doors holds Super Missiles
(SM: 25). Bomb the wall across from the door to find a large room with
lots of spikes, go to the opposite end of the room. Lay a power bomb and
enter the small hole to find another batch of Super Missiles (SM: 30).

Go all the way up the long shaft until you can't go any furthur, aim up
and blast away the rocks so you can continue. At the top is a door,
enter it. The only way to exit this room is to kill everything in it,
proceed to do that with extreme caution. At the far right is a room with
missiles (M: 135). Exit stage left.

Ride the platforms up (technically they are called "Trippers"), when you
get to the hihest one duck, when you see a wall, shoot it for some
missiles (M: 140). Fall down, bomb around to find a block. Blast it with
a Super Missile and it will break. Do some careful bombing to find a
horde of Missiles (M: 145). When you're done exit and bomb to find yet
another passageway, at the end is a door, enter it, exit that room, this
room has a lot of spikes and blocks on the ceiling.

Use the Grappling Beam to cross the room, at the end is a Chozo. Morph
into a ball and settle into it's hands, it will come to life and carry
you to another oom in the floor. Before going in the door bomb under it.
Clear out the blocks to find a Chozo statue, it holds some Missiles (M:
150). Lay a Power Bomb and the wall and the Chozo will be blown away.
Use the Ultra Jump to go up the long shaft and find a Reserve Tank (RT:
3), be careful though, there is an invisible hole in front of it.

Now return to the walking Chozo and head into the room, you'll get the
legendary Gravity Suit. Fall out the door and hold left so you land on
the platforms, head back into the Wrecked Ship. Go into the room below
the Save Room and go to the end, it's pretty straightforward. Don't go
into Crateria, instead shoot above to find a secret room with an Energy
Tank (E: 7).

Now, return to Brinstar, in particular, the large purple room where you
found the Charge Beam. Go to where you found the Charge Beam, lay a
Power Bomb to blast the cap off the hole, use the Speed Booster in the
water to get to an Energy Tank (E: 8). There is only one more door you
haven't been through, and it's yeller! Lay a Power Bomb to blow it open,
inside are a bunch of Side Hoppers. Kill them all, shoot the Wave Beam
the gate and it will open, jump up and over the wall. Your prize is
another beloved Energy Tank (E: 9).

Go to the green room after the Charge Beam. Jump up on the platform to
enter a blue cavern with lots of Side Hoppers. Bomb the wall to find
some Power Bombs (PB: 35). Lay a Power Bomb and the entire wall will
explode, remember *this* place? Use the X-ray scope to find, as in the
original Metroid, an Energy Tank in the ceiling (E: 10). Continue right,
here you will see where you got your 2nd Missiles.

Blow away the large...thing with a Power Bomb. Ultra Jump all the way up
the tunnel, jump out of the water to find an invisible floor (use the X-
ray Scope if you're confused). In the next room you will find a missile
(M: 155) and another if you bomb around (M: 160). Exit and go to the red
shaft, power bomb near the energy sucker thingie to find a large, open,
cavern. Grapple to the end to find the X-ray Scope.

When you're heading to Norfair's Elevator you will pass through a large
glass tube, stop right here. Lay one Power Bomb and the glass will
crack, and water will come gushing in as you fall into Maridia
(actually, you were already in it...).

Jump up the platforms to reach a large, green, cavern. Go into the red
door and kill everything in it, power up the Speed Booster and return
into the Cavern, Ultra Jump on the large seaweed, this will rocket you
up and you'll collect some Missiles (M: 165). If you're a centimeter off
it won't work. Continue up and to the right, pretty easy. In the next
room morph into a ball, fall off the ldge and hold left, you'll go into
a secret passage with some Super Missiles (SM: 35). When you return
you'll fall on a door, ignore it. Go to the right to find a door in the
floor, go into this one.

Jump to the left, when you reach the 2nd gap fall down and go into the
right wall, you'll find a secret room. Jump on the giant Turtle and he
will jump up so you can find an Energy Tank (E: 11). Jump on the small
ledge on the right, lay a Power Bomb. Fall off as the ball and hold
right, you'll collect some Missiles (M: 170). You couldn't find them
unless you knew they were there!

Return and exit to return to the large cavern, part 2. Grapple to the
next door, this can be very diffcult though as you may fall a
few...hundred times. Go up the upper shafts to reach a large room, run
all the way right to find a dump of Missiles (M: 175). Go back and run
up to the door. Run alllll the way left, and jump onto the High
platform. You may need to freeze the Menus for the steps. Fall down the
hole to find a Missile (M: 175) and a Super Missile (SM: 40). Now return
to the purple room.

Bomb and enter the next room. Again, bomb the floor. Now, go all the way
to the right, if you bomb here you can find two rooms, in all you can
get a Reserve Tank (RT: 4), two missiles (M: 180) and (M: 185), plus a
Power Bomb (PB: 40). I would do this after you are familiar with this
level, and after defeating Draygon. Ultra Jump up the shaft closest to
it to find a Missile (M: 185) and some Super Missiles (SM: 45). Exit by
falling down the blocks. You shouldn't need any help reaching Draygon,
just Ultra Jump up, use the Grappling Beam a bit, go into the Motchroid
room, blast some goles, and enter the next room!

Defeat Botwoon and the wall behind him will collapse, enter the door
behind it. Destroy the worms, you can see an Energy Tank up in the
rocks. Get a running start, jump, morph in mid-air, and fit yourself in
there (E: 12). This can be tricky, but it comes with the job. After
that, Speed Boost to the end, go up the Shaft, and Grapple to the end!

Grapple over the spikes to find ever more, but the 2nd set are fake. Run
oer them and shoot the wall for some Missiles (M: 190). The 1st set are
fake too, actually, so wade into them and you will fall in front of an
eye door. Blast it and go in and kill Draygon, your prize is the Space
Jump. Use it to exit the room, stage right, and go up the shaft. Back in
The Motchroid room, after Botwoon,, you'll notice that the Metal Door is
flashing. Blast it and make your way out of this purple, cactus room
from hell.

Now you're in another large cavern. Go left and up the long shaft, Space
Jump to the Metal Door. After a hard fight you'll find the Plasma Beam,
mixed with the Wave and Ice Beam is a lethal combination! Exit and drop
down to the next Metal Door, but don't enter it. Instead, go to the
green door, you passed it on the way to the Plasma Beam. You'll fall
down a lonnnnnnng tube and eventually end up at the other end of the
planet. Bomb and enter the blue door to the right. Follow it until you
see a room with a grappling block, grapple it and it will break. Space
Jump all the way up and go over the wall, the flooring will collapse.
The mechanical Spider thing will clear a path out of the sand for you,
at the end is the room with the Spring Ball.

Exit and go to the bottom of the "looooong tube" and go to the door on
the left. Space Jump to the left, you'll enter a room that looks like
the tube after it cracked open, but it's not. Morph and go under the
block to enter a secret room, go left and follow the path and you'll
drop down into Brinstar, right by the elevator to Norfair. But instead,
head into Kraid's lair and go to the place with the tons of KiHunters,
lay a Power Bomb and use the Spring Ball to get some Missiles (M: 195).

Now enter Norfair, go on the route as if you were going to the Speed
Booster. But when you get to the part with blue balls on the platforms,
drop down to find a door. Blow it away and enter the lava, Space Jump
while avoiding the fireballs to enter Ridely's Lair. (Enter Demonic
Voices) Muahahahaha!

Go to the left and Space Jump over the lava, dragon spit, dragons, piles
of lava, spewing fire...until you get to a large room with lava. Morph
into a ball while in the Chozo's hand and the lava will drain, a la
Metroid II. Drop down into the large hole, Space Jump over the hole to
find some Missiles (M: 200). Fall down and fight the Golden Cozo, your
reward is the Screw Attack. Use it to go up to find some Super Missiles
(SM: 50!), the very last batch in the entire game...amazery (c).

Refill your energy at the station and continue up, past all the fiery
dangers. Follow the path forever! After going through a bunch of walls
while the lava rises, you will get to a long shaft. Blast the top, go up
there, go around the rocks to find some Missiles (M: 205). Go back,
shaq, and into the huge place where lava will fill the room quickly, go
up and out. Bomb in the next room to drop down, go all the way down.
exit..follow the path....zzzz...easy! After the SideHopper-like
creatures are some Power Bombs, bomb around (PB: 45). You shouldn't have
any trouble going and killing the Metal Pirates and Ridely, and you your
reward for killing Ridely is an Energy Tank (E: 13). Return to where you
bombed to go lower, blast the 1st Skull Creature, go down, and on a
platform is the very last Energy Tank in the gane...(E: 14). Return up,
when you see a door ignore it and run throhg the wall on the left.

Follow the path, and ignore the door you see. Instead, go left and get
the Missiles (M: 110), and go in the maze, at the end is the last batch
of Power Bombs (PB: 50). Now go back to that one door and enter it. At
the end of the lava platforms, bomb for Missiles (M: 115). Exit and go
back to Crateria, where the Green Space Pirates were. Enter the door you
haven't yet, to find the Gold Statues. After some xploding jewels and
some cool effects, you can go into Tourain.

Tourain

Special Items: HYPER beam
Save Units: 2
Energy Charge Unit: 1
Missile Charge Unit: 1
Energy Tanks: 0
Reserve Tanks: 0
Missiles: 0
Super Missiles: 0
Power Bombs: 0
Boss: MotherBrain, baby!!!

There's nothing to collect here, just some kicking ass to do! To get out
of each room you must defeat all of the Metroids, blast them with the
Ice Beam and shoot five Missiles into them, or one Super Missile, or
three Power Bombs. If one latches onto you just lay Power Bombs. Freeze
the Rinkas so they don't get in your way, they can be somewhat annoying.
Halfway through Tourain, after killing all the Metroids, you will
discover two, large, blue-green Sidehoppers. Spin past them with the
Space Jump, they don't give up anything when defeated.

Don't be alarmed by the Chozo, it was killed by the baby Metroid, which
is dead ahead. It will latch onto you and suck all the energy out of you
until you only have ONE unit left...then it will discover that it's you,
and not an intruder. It's the baby Metroid, it has grown five times it's
normal size!

Blast the weird barnacles, blast the red door with five missiles and
then head into the left one, recharge your energy and missiles. Defeat
the eyeball door, I'm not sure if you would want to save. If you do save
you won't be able to get out of Tourain and explore the rest of Zebes,
but if you have everything...go into Motherbrain's room and kick her
@$$!!! You shouldn't have any trouble escaping the planet as it explodes
into a huge flaming fireball.

WHAT?!?!? I don't have 130 Missiles!! That's weird, my game does...I
must've screwed something up...allwell, I'm too busy
(read: lazy....seriously, I'm working on two other guides, I don't have
the time to fix it) to do anything about it, so DON'T email me about it,
k?

---------
7) Bosses
---------

Ridly # 1
He appears in the space colony, easy. When your energy reaches 30 he
will fly off. There is way to defeat him, kinda. Shoot him a lot and
eventually he will drop the baby metroid, snatch it before it hits the
floor, and fly away. You have to be good though!

Chozo # 1

Grab the bombs he holds and then the door will shut and the statue will
come to life and do battle with you. When he charges and swings his arms
morph into a ball to cover. Shoot the bombs he spews for missiles and
energy. First fire missiles until your out and then finish him off with
lasers, even when his head falls off.

Spore Spawn
This guards the first batch of super missiles. Morph into a ball and get
into a corner to avoid him, shoot the little spores for items. When he
opens up jump and shoot off two or three missiles, if you're good they
should all hit. He gets faster and meaner with each hit!

Kraid
The main boss of Brinstar, this could be the largest boss in video game
history! Standing two screens tall, he's a little easy. At first you can
only see his upper body, shoot lasers at his head so he screams. Shoot
missiles or super missiles into his mouth when he screams to cause
damage. When he rises up don't panic, jump on the upper platforms and
deal him some punishment! Strange enough, it only takes three direct
super missiles to kill him. Your prize is the Varia Suit.

Crocomire
You could use missiles, but I prefer charged laser shots because they
don't run out. Shoot shots into his open mouth to force him backwards,
if you miss and shoot his body he will move forward instead. Keep
shooting him until you force him over the ledge and into the lava.
However, his goal is to back you up into the spiked wall, this would
equal death. Your reward is the knocking down of a wall.

Phantoon
This guy is simple with this here trick! Wait until he becomes
"hittable" and then shoot a super missile into his mouth. He'll get
pissed off and send stream after stream of unavoidable fireballs. Use
the charge attack (see "Tricks, Tips, and Tips" section) to avoid them,
it's quite easy this way. I forget how many hits it takes, but its not
much. When defeated he will turn the power back on.

Botwoon
In Maridia you will face this eel like creature. Hide in the left hand
corner and wait for him to apear, if you have a wide open shot (like
when he sticks his head out to fire fireballs) shoot super missiles at
him. For one of the last bosses, he is pretty simple. When defeated the
wall behind him will crumble.

Draygon
There are two ways to kill him

#1
Go in and kick some serious ass, shoot all of your super missiles at his
belly. Follow up with a serenade of missiles and he'll be dead. Avoid
his gummy spit the best you can, if you get stuck you will lose a ton of
energy.

#2
Go in and destroy all of the cannons on the wall. Let his spit hit you,
while you are flying through the air hit one with the grappling beam.
You'll elecrucute Draygon! Although you'll lose some energy, he'll be
burnt to a crisp.

Golden Chozo
While walking through an empty room he will fall down. Get ready for
some projectiles! He will fire bombs at you, crescents, balls that open
up to tons of missiles, and little slivers of energy. Don't bother will
missiles, they don't hit him. Super misisles are good, but they are
wasted. Simply power up the plasma beam and kick his bird butt, it's
quite simple this way. Your prize is the Screw Attack.

Silver Space Pirates
I thought I would include them in here, they deserve special attention!
Use the Screw Attack to waste time above them and when one of them stops
shooting stuff at you fall down to the ground and take aim, they will
jump at you and turn gold, fire off as many super missiles as possible.
It will only take a few for each one. They are only vunerable when they
turn gold for a few short seconds.

Ridely # 2
Aha, Motherbrain's very own aid! This is gonna be fun! Go in and wait on
the right, he will appear on the left. If you have the Spring Ball you
can soften him up with a couple of power bombs. Fire your entire
complement of super missiles, he will barely turn red. Jump up and fire
them, avoid his fireballs by spinning with the Screw Attack. While on
the ground be careful of his tail, it has a long range. If he catches
you push all the buttons you can and he'll let go. It will drain nearly
all of your weaponry, but he'll be gone.

Mother Brain

Section One
Shoot through all of the red barriers, I would suggest missiles. It
doesn't matter if you take a few shots or not, you can afford it. When
you get to the end shoot Mother Brain's glass casing until it blows
apart, now it's time to get to the grey matter. Shoot her with 40
missiles, while avoiding the Rinkas and laser the best you can, and she
will blow up and fall to the floor.

Section Two
She will grow a gigantic body, now she's a whole screen high! Jump over
her blue bubbles and while in the air be careful of her laser. When she
drops a bomb wait a second and then jump to avoid the blast. Shoot every
missile you have at her and then some super missiles, this will take us
to the next section.

Section Three
Now she has backed up into the corner and is firing a large energy ray
at you from her hands. Don't get hit or you will suffer major energy
loss. Time it right and jump while shooting the last of your super
missiles, by the time you've ran out of weapons to use she'll be
powering up her hyper laser.

Section Four
This is her most powerful attack, it will cost you a few energy tanks
each time. It's what you would call a necessary evil. Shake it off a
little by tapping some buttons and you can get a few shots in with the
charge beam. When you're about to be killed the "Baby" Metroid comes and
saves you.

Section Five
Now it's time to kiss her ass goodbye, you've got the Hyper Beam! Shoot
at her until she crumblies and dies, it takes around 30 shots. That's a
lot! Now just run to the end and watch the short, but sweet ending!
