1. Introduction
This is the complete word by word description of the winning quotes and
endings that you won't find anywhere else. Actually, I made this and sent
it over to Ricardo A. Lafaurie Jr. in order to help him complete his FAQ.
For some reason, he did not send a reply to me, so I don't know whether or
not he continuing upgrading his FAQ. Instead of having all my preparations
go to waste, I have decided to make my own, adding a ASCII design and a
short move motion section to complete this document. ENJOY!
NOTE: I have been informed that the endings on the Sony Playstation are
different. Special thanks to Dingo Jellybean for pointing this out. Also,
I need help in finding out the voice tracks for Colossus and Silver Samurai,
in actually what they are saying and what they mean. If anyone has the
answer to that (or correction on other things), please e-mail me. You will
receive credit for it.

the same tragedy from happening to others."
Colossus: "I will not join you, Magneto. My place is with the X-
men."
Magneto: "Then leave me to my fate."
[Magneto blasts Colossus away. Then Colossus meets the X-men in a crumbing
corridor.]
Colossus: "Let us be on our way, comrades!"
Storm: "Hurry, X-men! There's no time!"
[They leave on the Blackbird, just as Avalon explodes.]
Colossus: "My parents were human, Magneto. Earth was their home
and they loved it as truly as they loved their
children. I could not betray their memory."
[Colossus meets Professor X in the Danger Room.]
Colossus: "I want to train harder, Professor. I have to be able to
protect those I care for. I must not lose anyone else."
Professor X: "I understand. Your training begins now, Peter."
[Prof. X goes to the control room. Then Colossus starts running around the
Danger Room, dodging spikes coming out of the floor.]
Professor X: "Peter could have followed Magneto's path of
vengeance, but he chose to protect rather than
destroy. I'm proud of the man, and the X-man he has
become."
CYCLOPS
-"Optic blast!"
-"Gene splice!"
-"Yes!"
-(vs. self) "There's only room for one Cyclops!"
-"You call yourself an X-men? Next time, prove it!"
-"Good effort. You'll do the X-men proud."
-"Power isn't everything, friend!"
-"I'd tangle with the X-men only if I wanted to lose!"
-"You were tougher than I thought. I'll remember that!"
-"I don't lead the X-men for nothing!"
-"Never mess with an X-man!"
-"Given your rep, I expected more of a fight!"
[Magneto faces Cyclops as the Acolytes come to his aid.]
Magneto: "You still fight for Xavier's failed dream. Join me,
Scott. Together, we shall conquer humankind!"
Cyclops: "The dream hasn't failed. Human and mutants will find a way
to exist peacefully."
Magneto: "You're just like that fool Xavier. Begone! I would
rather perish alone than be in your weak willed presence."
[Magneto blasts Cyclops away. Then Cyclops meets the X-men in a crumbling
corridor.]
Cyclops: "Is everyone all right?"
Psylocke: "Alive and well. Is it over?"
Wolverine: "Stop talking and start running!"
[They leave on the Blackbird, just as Avalon explodes.]
Cyclops: "What did he gain by destroying himself?"
Iceman: "You sure he didn't survive, Cyke?"
Cyclops: "No....he always returns. I wonder if we'll be able to
stop him next time."
Wolverine: "Next time, it's him you better worry about."
[Iceman, Cyclops, and Wolverine arrive in the Danger Room with Professor X
in the control room. Jean Grey flies in.]
Jean Grey: "Welcome back!"
[Jean Grey and Cyclops embrace. Wolverine looks at them, then silently
leaves.]
Cyclops: "Jean..."
Jean Grey: "I'm glad you're safe. I was worried."
Iceman: "Geez, won't you two knock it off?"
[Colossus enters]
Colossus: "We have an emergency. Omega Red has been spotted
engaging police units nearby."
Cyclops: "Okay! Let's go!"
[Cyclops raises his fist in the air and the X-men run off.]
-(vs. self) "I guess that'll teach me a thing or two!"
-"Let's see how you like being on ice for a while!"
-"When I say 'chill out' pal, I mean it!"
-"I hope you're not a sore loser!"
-"A little too cold for ya, huh?"
-"Losing is definitely your strong point!"
-"That was close--but I still left you in the cold!"
-"How about putting up a fight next time, huh?"
[Magneto faces Iceman as the Acolytes come to his aid.]
Magneto: "Fool! You destroyed all hope for mutant superiority!"
Iceman: "No, you're the fool, Magneto, believing you could change
the world through violence."
Magneto: "It matters little. Avalon is destroyed and my dreams
along with it."
Iceman: "Stay if you want. I'm outta here!"
[Magneto blasts Iceman away. Then Iceman meets the X-men in a crumbling
corridor.]
Iceman: "Looks like we all made it. Hey, where's Wolverine?"
Wolverine: "Stop your worryin', I'm here."
Cyclops: "Let's go people!"
[They leave on the Blackbird, just as Avalon explodes.]
Iceman: "Magneto really believed he was right! I wonder if he
survived? What do you think, Peter?"
Colossus: "Only time will tell, Tovarish."
Iceman: "Well, if I have to wait, I'm going to do it on the beach."
Storm: "Can't you be serious for even a moment, Robert?"
[Iceman is on the 'ice on the beach' stage, with three teenage girls, a
little girl, and a little boy.]
Iceman: "Remember kids, don't try this at home."
[Iceman makes a sculpture of the little girl out of ice.]
Girl: "That's good, but isn't she a little small?"
Iceman: "Be careful what you wish for."
[Iceman makes a sculpture of the Juggernaut.]
Girl: "It's horrible!"
Iceman: "Yeah, he's even worse in person, let me tell ya!"
[Iceman makes a sculpture of one of the girls.]
Girl: "That one's not as good. What's wrong? Losing your cool?"
Iceman: "Nah. Just getting warmed up."
[Iceman makes a sculpture of Mojo.]
Girl: "It's horrible!"
Iceman: "Yeah, he's even worse in person, let me tell ya!"
[Iceman makes a sculpture of the second of the three girls.]
Girl: "That one's not as good. What's wrong? Losing your cool?"
Iceman: "Nah. Just getting warmed up."
[Iceman makes a sculpture of the last girl. Girl claps her hands because it
looks like her.]
Girl: "That's so great! I have to get my friends before it melts."
Iceman: "Don't worry. I'll just make another one."
[Iceman makes a sculpture of Magneto.]
Girl: "It's horrible!"
Iceman: Yeah, he's even worse in person, let me tell ya!"
[Fade out.]
JUGGERNAUT
-"Earthquake!"
-"Head crush!"
-"Of course I've won, nothing can stop the Juggernaut!"
-"Next time, bring your little friends!"

-"Did you believe your pitiful powers could defeat me?"
-"Well fought--but not nearly well enough!"
-"I cannot be destroyed by the likes of you!"
-"Bah! I have no time to waste on such a weak opponent."
[Magneto faces Omega Red as the Acolytes come to his aid.]
Magneto: "Why have you done this? My fight was not with you."
Omega Red: "Your fight means nothing to me. I am here because you
have something I require. It's called a 'Carbonadium
Synthesizer'. I've searched for years to find it and
now I'm told it's here."
Magneto: "Then it has all been a waste. I know nothing of such a
device."
Omega Red: "I didn't think you'd cooperate, so I'll just have to
tear this place apart until I find it. Starting here!!"
[Omega Red leaves. He goes to a crumbling corridor and finds a canister.]
Omega Red: "This must be..."
[He picks it up and does a victory pose.]
Omega Red: "Yes!! It is the true synthesizer!!!"
[He leaves in an escape pod, just as Avalon explodes.]
Omega Red: "At last. I shall be free of this cursed existence!"
[Omega Red is in the 'mutant hunting' stage with two cops shooting at him
and two cops cowering in fear, behind the wrecked cars.]
Omega Red: "You humans would harm your master?! I will not tolerate
it!"
[Omega Red strikes at all of the cops with his coil and they fall.]
Omega Red: "Insignificant vermin. I'll destroy you all! What?!"
[Cyclops jumps down, facing Omega Red.]
Cyclops: "That's far enough, friend!"
Omega Red: "You are a fool to engage me, X-man. This world is
mine!!"
[Omega Red does a roundhouse kick to Cyclops. Fade out.]
-(vs. self) "There is only one Psylocke!"
-"Next time, I suggest you try fighting back."
-"How considerate of you to stand still while I defeat you." -"Call me again when you are serious!"
-"Your skills grow with experience--but not enough for me!" -"You've lost, but you've proven
yourself." -"Your skills don't compare to mine!" -"You fought well, but you are still outclassed!"
[Magneto faces Psylocke as the Acolytes come to his aid.]
Psylocke: "Magneto, you are defeated. Avalon is collapsing."
Magneto: "This is my home. I shall not leave it. Stay only if you
would perish with me."
Psylocke: "What?! You must be insane!"
Magneto: "Begone!"
[Magneto blasts Psylocke away. Then Psylocke meets the X-men in a crumbling
corridor.]
Iceman: "Psylocke! We thought Magneto had..."
Psylocke: "Thanks for the concern Robert. Let's get out of here."
[They leave on the Blackbird, just as Avalon explodes.]
Psylocke: "Magneto's goals were noble, but he became a monster to
achieve them. Then the goals didn't matter anymore.
His lust for world domination consumed him."
Storm: "It is unfortunate, Psylocke, but it was his decision."
Psylocke: "A decision that affected us all."
Wolverine: "Enough yapping. Let's go home."
Psylocke: "Philosophical as always, friend Logan."
[Later, Psylocke is seen in a swamp-like forest setting, wearing a southern
belle dress. A Capcom movie camera crew passes through, videotaping her.]
Psylocke: "I wonder if I could ever go back to this life? I must
admit, it does feel good."
[Suddenly, Wolverine uncontrollably flies through the screen, over
Psylocke's head. Unaware of this, she gets a puzzled look when she hears a
thud that came from Wolverine's landing off-screen. Then she turns to see
Cyclops facing her.]
Psylocke: "Go away, Cyclops!"
Cyclops: "You've got to stay on your toes Betsy!"
[Psylocke rips off her dress, showing her uniform.]
Psylocke: "Can't I have any peace?!"
[The screen goes black, followed by white flashes and multiple punching
sounds. The screen comes on, this time it's the Danger Room. The forest
and camera crew were holograms. Cyclops is lying on the ground with
Psylocke standing over him.]
Psylocke: "If I'd wanted a training session, I would have asked for
one."
Cyclops: "We'll see how well you do next time!"
-(vs. self) "Faulty unit has been terminated."
-"Subject eliminated, minimal force required."
-"Mission completed. Unit in need of repairs."
-"Superior programming ensures victory."
-"Resistance is futile, mutant."
-"Objective accomplished, target neutralized."
-"Target's offensive abilities were minor."
-"You have been neutralized."
[Magneto faces Sentinel, as the Acolytes come to his aid.]
Magneto: "Too much depends on me. I will not be beaten by some
twisted human tool."
Sentinel: "Target's defenses have failed. Proceed with capture."
Magneto: "Machine, you do not know me very well, do you? I'll
destroy Avalon and myself before I let you take us. You
will never harm another mutant!"
Sentinel: "Structural integrity of station 'Avalon' has been
breached. Escape necessary."
[Sentinel flies into space, just as Avalon explodes.]
Sentinel: "Target Magneto presumed dead. Unable to confirm.
Returning to base."
[Sentinel is in the Genosha stage, with an army of Sentinels and Master Mold
in the background.]
Sentinel: "Sentinel manufacture is complete. Commence termination
of all known mutants. Begin program."
[They all fly off, including Master Mold. The scene shows a Sentinel is
flying through the sky.]
Sentinel: "Target is identified as 'Storm'. Proceed with
termination. Caution advised."
[It sees Storm and strikes her down.]
Sentinel: "Termination complete. Returning to base for repair."
[Sentinel flies off screen. All sentinels return to the Genosha screen.]
Sentinel: "Program complete. Target mutants have been eliminated.
New program initiated. To prevent mutant reoccurrence,
humans must be controlled. Begin program."
[Fade to black.]
SILVER SAMURAI
-"Dossei!" (I think. If he is saying that, it might mean "Look out!" If
not, it might be a kiai, yelling to exert power.)
-"Reimaiken!"
-"Uchotottari." (Don't know what it means, but he says that when he wins.)
-(vs. self) "Obviously a feeble copy of a true master!"
-"You cannot defeat a true samurai!"
-"You have fallen before the might of my victorious blade!" -"You are an unworthy opponent!" -"You
wear defeat well, you must have much practice!" -"You are unfit to face the power of the Silver
Samurai!" -"I have no time waste on you, gai-jin!" -"Your lack of discipline is obvious to all!"
[Magneto faces Silver Samurai, as the Acolytes come to his aid.]
Magneto: "You are a mutant. You could have had a place in Avalon
and let the humans burn. Why do you oppose me?"
Silver Samurai: "You are an honorable man Magneto, but your dream
would have destroyed my clan and all we have
built."
Magneto: "How can you put the welfare of one group above the
survival of mutantkind?"
Silver Samurai: "My loyalty is to the Yashida Clan. It is a matter
of honor. Goodbye great one."
[Silver Samurai leaves and flies out in a escape pod, just as Avalon
explodes.]
Silver Samurai: "Even in death he is powerful. I wish that our
destinies had not brought us to this Magneto. You
would have been a worthy ally."
[Silver Samurai is in the samurai shrine stage with people surrounding him
and a chest in front of him.]
Silver Samurai: "I have returned in victory! Now no one will dare
oppose us! Yashida will again take its place at
the head of the yakusa!"
[He opens the chest with his sword and throws coins to the people.]
Silver Samurai: "Serve me well and you will be rewarded beyond your
wildest dreams!"
[Wolverine enters.]
Wolverine: "It never fails. I can't spend three days in this
country without running into one of you jokers."
Silver Samurai: "You have interfered with me too often, Wolverine.
I will no longer tolerate it!"
[The screen goes black, followed by white flashes and slashing sounds. The
screen returns with the people gone, Wolverine lying on the ground, half off
screen, and Silver Samurai standing.]
Silver Samurai: "Is that the best you can do Gaijin? All who
oppose the Yashida clan will fall before me!"
-(vs. self) "There can never be another Spiral!"
-"Your powers are a joke to me!"
-"You're lucky to have escaped with your life!"
-"I only need one arm to defeat the likes of you!"
-"Pay attention next time, or the results will be the same!" -"Not bad--you X-men lose better than
anyone else I know!" -"So much spirit, so little skill!" -"Consider this to be a warning!"
[Magneto faces Spiral, as the Acolytes come to his aid.]
Magneto: "Why do you do this? My world means nothing to you."
Spiral: "You forget, I work for Mojo T.V. Don't feel bad Magneto.
Just think of the ratings."
Magneto: "I've fought my whole life to build a future for mutants.
I won't have it destroyed for your sport."
Spiral: "Smile, Magneto. Time for the grand finale!"
Magneto: "No! I won't have my dream die like this!"
Spiral: "Sorry, it's my job. It it my fault I enjoy it?"
[Spiral disappears from Avalon and reappears in Mojoworld, with Mojo waiting
for her.]
Mojo: "Welcome home my pretty slave. How was work today?"
Spiral: "Not bad... pain, mass destruction, guaranteed top ratings."
Mojo: "Oh, I'm so pleased. Perhaps I shall clone them all and make
a sequel!"
Spiral: "I've got an even better idea. Something big... a
spectacular crowd pleasing multi-media event that the
whole family will love!"
Mojo: "Yes! Yes! Tell me more!"
Spiral: "It's called... the fall of Earth!!"
Mojo: "Ooh! It's daring, it's risky. I love it!"
Spiral: "I knew you'd like it."
Mojo: "Quick, let's start working on the contract!"
Spiral: "There are so many 'hero's' there. We could go for at
least 5 seasons, before we even think about re-runs."
-"Learn from your defeat, child."
-"Bright lady, I am victorious!"
-"You cannot withstand the elemental fury of Storm!"
-"Next time, I would hope you would give more of a challenge!" -"Technology is no match for the
power of the elements!" -"Goddess, you nearly defeated me!" -"you will do no more harm!" -"A noble
try, next time we may see a different outcome."
[Magneto faces Storm, as the Acolytes come to his aid,]
Magneto: "Do you really believe humans will accept you? It's a
fool's hope."
Storm: "I would rather follow my dreams than your mad obsessions."
Magneto: "Our dreams are more similar than you think, Storm."
Storm: "Farewell Magneto. I leave you to your obsessions as Avalon
collapses around you."
Magneto: "Goodbye Storm. I leave you to your fool's dream."
[Magneto blasts Storm away. Then Storm meets the X-men in a crumbling
corridor.]
Storm: "Are we all accounted for?"
Colossus: "Da, Tovarish."
Cyclops: "Move it people! Standard evac!"
[They leave on the Blackbird, just as Avalon explodes.]
Psylocke: "What happened to Magneto?"
Storm: "He's gone. He was a great man on the wrong path."
Cyclops: "He had a choice, it was more than his victims had."
Storm: "Perhaps..."
[Storm is shown flying through the sky with the Blackbird.]
Cyclops: "Storm! A group of Sentinels are approaching. One of
them is nearby. If you can take it out, we'll deal with
the rest."
Storm: "Very well. Good luck."
[The Blackbird flies off. A Sentinel arrives saying "Destroy!" Storm
strikes the Sentinel and it falls. Forge arrives in a jet pack.]
Forge: "Are you okay Storm?"
Storm: "Yes, but the others will need our help."
-(vs. self) "Yer just a pale imitation, bub."
-"I've scrapped with the best, pal, and you ain't it!"
-"Nice try, bub, but I'm still the best there is at what I do!" -"That's the best you can do?" -"You
gotta fight harder than that, rookie!" -"Thanks bub, I needed the workout." -"Next time I won't even
have to unsheathe my claws." -"Yer gettin' better, kid--but yer not there yet!"
[Magneto faces Wolverine as the Acolytes come to his aid.]
Wolverine: "It's over bub! You can either come with, or I can drag
ya... it's your choice!"
Magneto: "You can still join me Wolverine. Help me protect
mutantkind."
Wolverine: "Save the speeches Maggie. You're through."
Magneto: "then leave now. Avalon will not last much longer."
[Magneto blasts Wolverine away. Then Wolverine meets the X-men in a
crumbling corridor.]
Colossus: "Wolverine! What has happened?"
Wolverine: "It's over. Let's get out of here."
[They leave on the Blackbird, just as Avalon explodes.]
Wolverine: "Stubborn to the end."
Iceman: "What was that?"
Wolverine: "Nothing."
[Wolverine and Cyclops arrive in the Danger Room. There are flowers and
gifts on the floor. Jean Grey flies in.]
Jean Grey: "Welcome back!"
[Jean and Cyclops embrace. Wolverine looks at them and does a defeated
pose.]
Cyclops: "Jean..."
Jean Grey: "I'm glad you're safe. I was worried."
[Wolverine rips up the presents, then runs off.]
Wolverine: "Take care of her Summers."
[A ripped picture of Jean Grey and Cyclops show up. Screen fades to black,
then returns to an open forest with Wolverine leaning on a motorcycle.]
Wolverine: "I need a vacation."
[He hops on and drives off. Later, he arrives on the samurai shrine stage
with Silver Samurai facing him.]
Wolverine: "It never fails. I can't spend three days in this
country without running into one of you jokers."
Silver Samurai: "You have interfered with me too often Wolverine.
I will no longer tolerate it!"
[The screen goes black, follow by white flashes and slashing sounds. The
screen return with Silver Samurai lying on the floor and Wolverine standing
over him, removing his mask.]
Wolverine: "Thanks for the exercise. Where to next? I hear
Madripoor is nice this time of year."
[Fade to black]
PLAYSTATION ENDINGS: after these lines: [They leave on the Blackbird (or
escape pod for x-villains), just as Avalon explodes.], they ended ALL the
ending series with that, omitted the rest and replace it with the credits
(the ones you see when you beat the game without continuing).
CREDITS ENDINGS: This is what you see when you beat the game without
continuing. This apply to arcade, Sega Saturn, and PC. The Sony
Playstation has these endings, but they use it to replace the character
endings on the console, so you can see it whether or not you continue.

This has nothing to do with the game, but since the X-Men are so popular in
games, toys, and shows, that I thought I would give a brief history and
reviews of the X-Men in movie and TV. For video game info, check "History
of the X-Men" in videogames.com.
Before the X-Men had their own show, They made a couple of appearances. The
earliest was in 1966 in a PRINCE NAMOR, THE SUB-MARINER episode entitled:
"Dr. Doom's Day". In it, Dr. Doom enlisted the aid of Namor to destroy the
Superheroes by sending their headquarters into the sun, before Namor got
wise and defeated him. The original Members were in it: Prof. X, Angel,
Beast, Cyclops, Iceman and Marvel Girl (Jean Grey). The episode originally
came from Fantastic Four #6 and F.F. Annual #3, but the F.F. were replaced
by the X-men, which is why their headquarters look a lot like the Baxter
Building. Then around 1987, they appeared in 4 episodes of NBC's SPIDER-MAN
AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS. They first two dealt with the origins of
Spider-Man's co-hosts, Iceman and Fire Star. The third one had them team up
when the X-Men's mansion was under siege. The last one was just merely a
cameo. The shows did not follow the comics too closely (Cyclops and
Juggernaut had unusual voices and Thunderbird changed into a bear which he
does not do in the comics). But their appearances made them popular enough
for a chance at a series of their own. Some of the shows I mentioned are
out on video tape by Best Video, if you look hard enough.
The first X-Men show debuted in 1988, in the syndicated series MARVEL ACTION
UNIVERSE. It was a one-shot pilot, entitled "Pryde of the X-men". In it,
Magneto escaped from prison and brought together his "Brotherhood of Mutant
Terrorist". The members were: Blob, Juggernaut, Pyro, Toad and the White
Queen. Meanwhile, Kitty Pryde was invited to join the X-men and met Prof.
X, Colossus, Cyclops, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Storm and Wolverine. Then they
got together to stop Magneto from sending a comet to Earth. The show had
mixed reviews. The animation was really top of the line, more like a anime
movie and not like a cheap TV cartoon. The voice actors from other shows
such as John Stevenson (who played Johnny's father in JOHNNY QUEST), Frank
Welker (who's known for as Slimer in THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS), and narrations
by Stan Lee added flair to the show. But there were problems, such as
Wolverine's Australian accent("Don't worry about us, dingo!") and that the
story line was muddled because of censorship and there were too many
characters in one story. At that time, Cartoons were made based on toys and
vice versa and they wanted to put a lot of characters in order to sell a lot
and the stories suffer from this. Because of this, they were not granted a
series (not yet anyway), but it was released on video (also from Best Video)
and Konami adapted a arcade game from it.
Then in November, 1992, the Fox Channel aired the first 2-part episodes
called "Night of the Sentinels", as a sneak peek before they began the
series in January 1993. The series was produced by Saban and it starred the
team members of Prof. X, Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Jubilee, Jean Grey (not as
Marvel Girl this time), Rogue, Storm and Wolverine. In almost every
episodes, they met friends such as, Bishop, Cable, Nightcrawler and the
X-Factor and foes, such as the Sentinels, Apocalypse, Mystique, Mr.
Sinister, Omega Red and Magneto, who did not have a team like before, but
have a lot of followers. Some of the stories were great, some taken from
the comics like "The Phoenix Saga". The music and sound effects were
wonderful. The voice-over for the characters were almost perfect, although
Gambit, Storm and Magneto had their voice actors changed from time to time.
Most of all, they got Wolverine's voice right. The animations was nice but
some of the episodes were not up to par compared with the 1988 one shot.
The series was well liked but far from perfect, because of the errors were
made in some episodes when they first aired but were corrected in later
reruns. For example, in episode #2, Gambit's eyes were regular, not
red/black like they suppose to be and they changed the ending in episode #7
because they aired ep#9 and not #8 at that time. The series improved over
time before it was cancelled in 1997 with 75 episodes in it's belt. Some of
them are on video and the stations might show the re-runs around where you
live. Also, during that time, The X-Men made 2 cameos on the syndicated
FANTASTIC FOUR 1995 series, appeared in a 2-part episode of FOX's SPIDER-MAN
(1995 version), and only Storm shown up again in a 3-part story called "The
Secret Wars". All of them have the same voices and likeness as in their
series. Some shows are also on tape.
In the summer of 2000, Fox released the first X-Men movie on the big screen.
The story started with Magneto as a child in a Nazi Prison camp and
continued in the near future, where some people are turning into mutants and
the government was planning to track them down. Charles Xavier opened a
school for gifted youngsters in order to help the mutants. He recruited
Cyclops, Jean Grey (still doesn't have a code name), Rogue, Storm and
Wolverine. They try to make peace with the humans and stop evil mutants
from spoiling it. One of them is Magneto and his co-horts, Mystique,
Sabretooth, and Toad, who planed to release a bomb that genetically alter
humans' DNA with disastrous results. The movie starred STAR TREK: THE NEXT
GENERATION's Patrick Stewart (Prof. X), Shakespeare actor Ian McKellen
(Magneto), GOLDENEYE's Famke Janssen (Jean Grey), model Halle Berry (Storm),
actors James Marsden (Cyclops), Anna Paquin (Rogue) and newcomer Hugh
Jackman (Wolverine). THE USUAL SUSPECTS' director Bryan Singer did his best
to combine comic book features to real life movie and it shows. It was
consider one of the best of the super heroes movies along with the first
BATMAN and SUPERMAN pictures. It's smart, well-paced and not campy. The
special effects and sound were top of the line. It's great to see
Wolverine's rapid healing powers come alive. The only problem was because
of too many characters and not enough time, there was barely any personal
in-depth on some of the characters as to why they do what they do (Mystique
only had one speaking sentence). Originally, they planned to make a
Wolverine movie first, then X-Men as a sequel. Of course there were other
minor things like Jackman's too tall to play Wolverine, Magneto's too old,
Mystique's too freaky, Storm's hair and accent are fake and so on, but it
didn't bog down this movie one bit. You can now own it on video or DVD.
After the success of the movie, Marvel decided to make another series. This
time it is produced by Film Roman and shown on the Kids' WB under the title,
X-MEN: EVOLUTION. This was more of a prequel than a sequel to the first one,
because most of the famous mutants are at high school age. Prof. X is still
the teacher and Storm and Wolverine are the trainers. The students are
Cyclops, Jean Grey (still without a code name), Nightcrawler and Kitty Pryde
as Shadowcat. At the beginning of the series, they were at a race to
recruit as many mutants as possible, just like in the 1960 early issues of
X-Men comics (in one issue, they tried to recruit Prince Namor, the
Sub-Mariner and failed). The new character, Spyke, is one fo them, who's
faintly resembles the Morlock character, Marrow and doubtful that he will be
kill off, like they did to Morph on the first series. Prof. X's nemesis is,
of course, Magneto. With the help of Mystique, he had taken in Avalanche,
Blob, Toad, Rogue and Quicksilver (Yes, it's true, the last two did started
out as bad guys in their first comic book appearance). Sabretooth is also
in the series, but don't know whether or not he's a team player. The only
idea that was not in the comic was that Prof. X and Magneto make their
students go to a public school called Bayville High (private and public
schooling? Whoa). With the whole new look in art and storyline, Marvel
hopes to attract many viewers to this series, but it is too early to tell
now. The only thing that might turn them off would be Wolverine's new
voice. I'm not saying it's bad, but they would miss the first series
version and consider it the best voice for Logan. So far, it has good
animation and pretty decent storyline. Whether it would make it past the
first season or wind up like other Marvel shows such as SILVER SURFER,
AVENGERS and SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED remains to be seen.
