1] Version History
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
[Version 0.5 - 3/23/03]
Smaller update this time. Monster data updated. New section added as well,
devoted to hunt skill.
[Version 0.45 - 3/14/03]
Exp. Chart is completed, but some of the TNLs are missing (more than half). The
chart still works, you'd just have to subtract level values to find TNL. They
aren't that important, so it's functional. Amulet section added to the weapon
list, as well as completed.
[Version 0.35 - 3/04/03]
Exp. Chart has a few more levels added. Helmets and Boots section of Weapon
list is complete. Added a few 'hidden' items to the item list. Should be
complete as of now. Walkthrough\Monster Data weren't worked on in this version,
due to the amount of school I've been dealing with. Will work on those, as well
as the rest as soon as I have some free time.
[Version 0.25 - 2/26/03]
Information accurate as of version A73. Item list complete. Exp. Chart and
Weapon list is coming along nicely but only partly complete. The monster data
as well is partly complete. Walkthrough is started, will be worked on very
rapidly, as well as many more additions. E-mail me if you want anything else
added, I'm only a quarter done or so anyway.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
2] Monster Data
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Monster data. For those wondering how tough their next fight will be, or what
monster would make a potentially good pet. For those new to the game, a legend
is given below.
[Monster Name]
Monster ID: #Id of Monster
Element: Which element it pertains to on the wheel
Level: Monster's level. Never changes.
HP: Monster's health points
MP: Monster's mana points
A: Monster's attack
D: Monster's defense
STR: Monster's strength
WIS: Monster's wisdom
STA: Monster's stamina
AGI: Monster's agility
DEX: Monster's dexterity
XP. GIVEN: Exp. awarded for defeating monster
GP. GIVEN: Average amount of gold won from monster
Note: For those of you who are pet seekers. Monster stats at 0 can never
increase. EG: A Green Jelly's WIS.
Your hunt skill is a numerical representation of how well you can find and
avoid numbers. It can be found on the stats page next to your rating. All
characters start out with their hunt skill at 0. It is said that hunt skills
can go as high as 20. The highest i've seen is 11, and 9 is usually an
accomplishment even. Below is a chart, similar to the experience chart, which
will tell you how many times you need to click the hunt button in order to
reach a certain hunting skill.
Q. Did you actually hunt that many times to do this?
A. A lot more than that, actually.
Q. Do I have to find a monster to have it count as a hunt?
A. No, you only need to click the hunt button. That's all that's required.
Q. What about maps without monsters? Will hunting there work?
A. Actually, hunting on maps without monsters is the best way to increase your
skill. You can hunt rather rapidly without having to fight or exit fights. I
actually used this method for most of my research.
Q. What if I hunt on monster maps? Does finding a monster matter?
A. Again, no. If you hunt 8 times at level 0 and find 8 monsters, you'll reach
level 1 skill. If you hunt 8 times on a map with no monsters, you'll reach
level 1 skill. There is no way to slow or speed up your hunt skill level other
than how frequently you click the hunt button.
Q. Can I just mash the hunt button for quick hunts?
A. No, you must let the hunt complete for it to count. (hunt, wait until radar
around your character disappears)
Since this is an RPG, the game is fairly open-ended, and moreso than most RPGs.
You don't have to do every quest in a certain order (although some are much
easier than others), and I'm not going to tell you to kill 25 demons in grid 13
before you fetch the quail slippers.
The following strategy will get you through the game from start to finish if
you've never played before, with tips on what to fight and what level you
should be at, as well as which quests to do along the way. If you aren't so
new, and are just looking for the way to complete a specific quest that will
work as well. I've put several headings within the walkthrough, so if you
search for "Soul Ring" with CTRL + F you'll come to it sooner or later, as the
heading is usually the first place I'll use the term "Soul Ring", aside from
here of course. You get the point. On with the walkthrough. Oh, and "Soul
Ring".
-----------------[Starting Out \ Soul Brother's Quest]-----------------
Set up your character (I'm assuming you know how to fill out boxes and fields),
and you'll be placed nearby the Gateway of Dreams. Enter and talk to the soul
brother. Agree to obey the golden rule (Type 'Yes' when prompted to) and you
will then be able to buy equipment and heal for free here, as well as any other
wells in the world. Stay and listen to the soul brother for information on your
first quest.
Quest Diary: You have agreed to obey the golden rule [1]
(Note that your diary plays no important rule other than telling you what
you've accomplished, but some people like to have a full diary. If you don't
care, pay no attention to these.)
Before you hunt for any monsters, leave the gateway and head south to macgyver
castle. Inside you will find a well, with another soul brother. You will
automatically deliver the message from the last soul brother, and will be
rewarded with 1000GP.
Quest Diary: You informed the Brother of Macguyver Castle about the meeting
date [3]
You can buy equipment here at very cheap prices, with slight bonuses (A: +5, D:
+14 overall). This should be enough to give you very good odds against monsters
outside, so exit. Hunt between the castle and the gateway to find green
jellies, which are easy to defeat and give enough exp at the start. Fight them
until you level up, and you'll recieve your first level bonus. You can now
apply 10 points to any of your stats. If you are a hand fighter (50% or more in
hand), I would suggest putting most of your points in Strength, with some in
Stamina and Dexterity. If you are a magic-oriented user, I would HIGHLY suggest
putting most of your points (or all) in Wisdom. With this you'll be able to get
PP very quickly, and deal out harsh attacks.
At level two you'll be able to take on archer fish, located just northeast of
the gateway. You can stay and fight these for fairly quick levels until you
reach level four. If you have any trouble, remember to go back to the well and
get new equipment. At the start, equipment bonuses are the most beneficial.
(The first amulet you buy will up your attack by 10, helmets\shields will
increase your defense by 5 every time you upgrade). When you feel safe, and
have your level's equipment, you're ready for your another short quest.
Equipment is grouped by category in this order: Helmets, Weapons, Armor,
Shields, Rings, Boots, Amulets. Categories are listed in ascending order
according to level.

If you're entirely lost, you can download this game and it's updates from
http://www.synthetic-reality.com - It updates often, you'll want to check it
out.
While mostly "complete", this guide isn't entirely comprehensive. If you have
anything you'd like to see added, just send me an e-mail
(JGameFAQs@hotmail.com) and I'll see what I can do.
Don't e-mail me about stupid things. As a high school and college student, I
have enough to do as it is. I like to use my free time to enjoy myself and do a
bit of gaming\gaming help. I'm not here to talk to you about your secret way of
using your pet goldfish to get 3 million gold per minute. That's about it. I
hope you enjoyed the guide.
