Note:
This strategy guide is based on my own personal oppinions and strategies (which
seems to work pretty well.) In this guide, I will cover team strategy used
on the map, de_dust2. Strategy that you would use in a 5 vs 5 match. If
you're looking for basic strategy you could use for a public server, you may
not find what you're looking for in this guide. If there is something you'd
like added to this guide, feel free to contact me and I'll look into it.

In oder to fully understand this strategy guide, you may require a general idea
of the map layout.

Like any de_map, 90% of the time as a CT on de_dust2 you will find yourself
camping, guarding and defending. As a CT, there are three basic strategies
of which your team will chose one of each round. The first is sending three
men to bomb site B and two to A, for the second you send two men to B and three
to A, and for the third strategy you spread it out and cover zones. One man
goes to B, one man covers center doors, one man goes to long A, one man stays
at A, and one man covers short A. Chosing which strategy to initiate each
round depends on the opposing team's strategies. If strategy #3 hasn't been
working well for you, try #1 or #2 and chose which of those depending on which
bomb site you think the terrorists will attack.
Also, who goes to which position is decided by spawn location. At the start
of each round, you will observe which position you are nearest and let your
team know that you're going to position . That way there is no
confusion and you don't end up with empty positions and too many men in one
position.
Lastly, as a CT it is very very important that you let your team know the
second you spot a terrorist, especialy on dust2. Speed is the key. You also
need to hold off the enemy from reaching the bomb site long enough for your
team mates to reach you. Many players like to go rambo style and try to take
on the whole terrorist team solo. It is a much better idea to lay cover fire,
nades, and flashes just to keep the enemies back long enough for backup to
arrive.

* * * *
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Strategy #1 - 3 man B, 2 man A
First we'll cover the three men going to bomb site B. Speed is esential here,
because two of the three men will be rushing into the choke point. The third
man will stay behind at the doors to bomb site B that way he can watch the
center but also watch the bomb site incase the other two men are killed. If
you disover that the terrorists are not coming to bomb site B, of the two CT's
rushing the choke point, one will go down the stairs and the other can either
go back out through B or go down the stairs also. The idea in the long run of
this is that the terrorists are probably rushing site A and by this time they
are there or nearly there. You will want one of the two CT's who rushed B
choke point to flank short A and depending on urgency of the situation at bomb
site A, the other man can either flank long A or short A. The third CT at
bomb site B, the one positioned at the doors will make his way to bomb site A
through CT spawn. It is important that this CT waits to coordinate his attack
with the CT flanking short A because the CT coming through spawn is at a
positional dissadvantage. But in essence, he can use the CT coming from short
A to bait and he can then rush in and make the kills.
Lastly is the two men at bomb site A. These guys pretty much have it easy.
Both men will stay at bomb site A but one will position himself so he can see
down long A, and the other so he can see short A. If it's decided that the
terrorists are not coming to A, the two CT's there can make their way to B.
It would be ideal that one CT goes through center and up the stairs to flank B
while the other goes straight into B through the doors. Or depending on
urgency, both CT's may just go straight to B through the doors.

Strategy #2 - 2 man B, 3 man A
This is the strategy you'll use if you think the terrorists will be coming to
bomb site A. As the title says, 2 men will be going to bomb site B while the
other three will go to A. First I'll cover the three at bomb site A. Now,
there are actualy two variants to this. One is that two CT's rush short A, and
the other is that two CT's rush long A. In both variants, the third CT at A
just sits at the bomb site as back up. If you decide to rush short A, your
next movement depends on if the terrorists are coming long A or are rushing
bomb site B. If they're coming long A, you'll want one of the two CT's rushing
short A to flank long A while the second moves back to bomb site A. If they're
attacking bomb site B, both CT's rushing short A will continue through short A
and up the stairs through the choke point into bomb site B while the third CT
sitting at bomb site A will travel through the center and to the doors into B.
Now, for the second variant of this, two CT's will be rushing long A. If it
ends up that the terrorists are attacking short A, one of these two CT's will
flank short A while the other returns the way he came back to A. If the T's
are attacking bomb site B, both of these CT's will need to quickly rush through
long A and down the center towards B while the CT sitting at A will go through
CT spawn toward B.
Lastly, the two CT's assigned to bomb site B will mainly just be sitting there.
One will want to position himself inside B so he can see into the choke point
while the other will want to be just outside of the doors so he can also watch
the center. If the terrorists end up attacking bomb site A, these two CT's
will need to quickly make their way there. One should flank short A while the
other goes through CT spawn.

Strategy #3 - Defending Zones
The third strategy is the most basic and probably the easiest to execute. In
this strategy, each CT will be covering a zone. There is no attacking, no
rushing through to meet the terrorists head on. This is the defensive
strategy.
The five positions are bomb site B (or just outside the doors to B,) the
center, long A, short A, and at bomb site A. There isn't much explaining
required of this strategy, but there are some small pointers I can add in.
First of all, speed is very important in this strategy due to your team being
so spread out. So calling off enemy sitings emedietly is very important as is
holding the enemy at bay. Flanking is very easy in this strategy, also. The
center man is almost always going to be the flank man. The only time he won't
be is when the terrorists rush center. But if the terrorists rush A, he will
flank up the center through long or short depending on which way the terrorists
went and depending on urgency of the situation. If the terrorists rushed B, he
will flank through the center and up the stairs to B.

* * * *
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Like any de map, terrorist strategy is very basic and very easy. There are
little specifics on most de maps but for dust 2, things can get complicated.
There are five main paths for the terrorists to attack. I call them direct B
(going left from terrorist spawn,) stairs B (going down the center and up the
stairs to bomb site B,) center (rushing straight down the center through the
doors to either site A or B,) short A (also known as top A,) and long A.
Your team will make the decision at the start of each round which way to rush.
Which way to attack will depend on what strategies the CT's have been executing
and where you think their defenses will be the weakest.
Lastly I'd like to point out that it is my oppinion that winning as terrorists
on a de map relies heavily on skill level and not so much on execution of
strategy. The reason I think this is because in most cases you will be rushing
as a terrorist right into the CT defenses, an ambush or a trap. Your skill and
your aim will be put to the test.

In this section I'm going to cover some of the combination attacks and
strategies. I'm not going to cover much detail because most terrorist strategy
is decided on the fly and at the moment depending on situation.

Attacking Bomb Site B -
All 5 rush direct B or 2 rush direct B and 3 rush center and through doors to B.
Sending three men through center can be a good strategy if the CT's are heavily
fortifying bomb site B. The three men rushing center can flank bomb site B
through the doors. In this strategy you will want to try to coordinate your
attacks so both groups attack at precisely the same time. A two front attack
so to speak.
If you chose to send all 5 men direct B you will rely on speed and force.

Attacking Bomb Site A -
All 5 rush short A, 2 rush short A and 3 rush center, 3 rush short A and 2 rush
center, 2 rush short A and 3 rush long A, 3 rush short A and 2 rush long A, or a
completly spread out attack, 2 rush center, 1 rush short A and 2 rush long A.
In most cases, you will send all 5 through short A or you will use a combination
sending 2 or 3 to short A and 2 or 3 to long A respectively. You will rarely
send men through the center because it is very risky. These men can easily be
flanked by CT's coming from bomb site B. Just as in the case of sending all 5
men direct B, you will again be relying on speed and force if you chose to
send all 5 men through short A. If you chose to use a combination attack,
coordinating your attacks will be key to success.
You may ask why I left out sending all 5 men long A. Well the answer to this
question is I think that is one of the stupidest things the terrorist team can
do next to sending the whole team through the center. By sending the whole
team through long A you are giving the CT's more then all the time in the world
to focus defenses at A. A CT camping at bomb site B could go grab a burger,
come back, and still reach bomb site A before the terrorists do.

Miscellaneous -
Deciding which way to attack is always chosen on the fly, but for the first
round I always chose to send all 5 men through short A. I don't know why, I
just feel it's the easiest for pistol round. But for the first round, all 5
men should buy a grenade and ammo; nothing more. When you rush, the first 2
terrorists should throw their grenades into short A at the stairs and then
the remaining 3 terrorists should save their's for bomb site A or when you
site a CT. The initial two grenades thrown into short A will kill or come
close to killing any CT in there and will just about ensure your safe travel
atleast up until you reach bomb site A.

An important part of being a terrorist is defending the bomb. Planting the
bomb is half the battle, defending it is the hard part. There isn't much to
say about defending the bomb but it is important that you stay near it once
it's planted. There are two strategies you can use one you've planted the
bomb. One is to openly defend it and keep the CT's away (or dead for the
matter.) Just pick a nice spot and camp, really. The other, which you'll most
commonly use if you are the last terrorist alive is to hide and wait for the
CT's to come to you and try to defuse. It is then that you surprise them but
make sure to kill any CT defusing before targeting others. It doesn't matter
if you're killed, just so long as the bomb explodes you will still win the
round.
