This document (c) Mario "macCro" Zamic 2001, 2002. It's based on my
international squads' research only and is not by any means related to any
other International Superstar Soccer/Winning Eleven FAQs. ISS Pro Evolution
2 is produced by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo in 2001. ISS/WE are
the trademarks of KCET. Sony PlayStation is a trademark of Sony.
I would like to thank everyone who helped me during the process of
compiling player names, to mention only Marko, Ante, Stjepko, Toni, Veljko,
Stipe, Juan, Sergei, Beckham Kent, Christian Leguizamo, Joaquin Vilaseca,
Stephen Hong, Andrzej from Poland and many others. I would also like to
thank my ISS party people (http://www.angelfire.com/mac/maccro),
who spent numerous nights playing this wonderful game. Thanks goes to
gameFAQs.com for posting my PC FAQs. Last but not the least, big thanks to
SeaBass Takatsuka. Man, you're a genius.
1.1 Version update
I never thought that I would be writing this update so soon after the
original FAQ. Numerous people mailed me after it's been posted on
GameFAQs.com and now you can find this FAQ on three more pages:
- Cheat Code Central (http://www.CheatCC.com)
- PlayStation Cheat.net (http://dozer.psxcodez.com)
- Cheat Codes (http://www.CheatCodes.com)
and I'm happy for it.
I've changed some player names (in N.Ireland and UAE - thanks to Kent
Beckham!) so please update it.
You may experience some difficulties if your browser doesn't support some
of the characters used here. If you see these characters, they can be
written otherwise:
A - it's AE
A - it's AE or just leave A
C - can be C
E - or E
N - it's NH or just leave N
O - it's OE or just leave O
R - it's OE
U - usually just U
You may experience some problems with Turkey, Austria, Switzerland,
Germany and Scandinavian squads.
1.2. Version update
More players' names corrected, and now I hope that all European squads are
accurate. I'm not sure 100% about the rest of the world, so keep mailing me
if you find some errors.
Every day there are more pages with this FAQ, and most of them do not have
my approval to publish it. Oh well. These are the pages with my approval to
publish this FAQ:

If you find this document on some other pages, please mail me at
mazamic@inet.hr.
The number of people who contacted me is absolutely amazing. To all of you
out there, big thanks for your time and support!
1.3. Version update
Another quick update, but a very important one!
Thanks to Chris Brown from UK, I managed to unlock Classic All-Star teams
in ISS Pro Evolution 2! You have to win the INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE playing
FULL SEASON. So I updated the name list with the Classic All-Stars' true
player names. Sorry for the error and a big thanks to Chris!
2.0. Version update
Ten days ago, I finally decided I should write a full guide for this game.
It took me nearly a week to carefully compile all about International
Superstar Soccer Pro Evolution 2 that the reader might find useful.
Although I don't have any illusions that I included everything relevant in
the process of writing, hopefully the most of it is here. If you have any
remarks, comments, suggestions or you simply think you can be of some help
to the author, feel free to e-mail me.
2.1. Version update
I changed my e-mail address, and it's mazamic@inet.hr now.

4. MASTER LEAGUE
Master league is a club competition that consists of 24 teams - 16 in
Division 1 and 8 in Division 2. You start in D2. Each win gets you 4 points
and you get additional points for a goal difference (for example, if you
win 3:1, you get 4+2=6 points). With points earned, you will be able to buy
players, which have a price in points (Ronaldo and your created players
cost 50 points, which is the max). If you get promoted to D1, you will earn
more points there.
Win Division 1 to unlock Euro and World All Star teams.
5. PRACTICE MODE
Choose a team and start practice. You can practice attacking, 1-2 pass and
shoot, free kicks and corner kicks.
6. GAME OPTIONS

Load and Save the option file

unfortunately no Master league players

e) SOUND SETTING - adjust sound setting, volume, commentary language etc.
f) SCREEN ADJUSTMENT - centre screen and choose language of the screen.
1) Member change
Swap players in your team. Press R1 to see player's position / form /
condition / set pieces takers. Arrow up means that the player is in a good
form, and naturally arrow down means he's in a bad form. In set pieces
takers' menu, S is for short free kicks - under 30 metres from goal,
L=long free kicks - over 30 m, R/L=right/left side corners, PK=penalties.
Press R2 to see players' position / players' numbers / players' offence
or defence attitude on the upper diagram.
2) Select kicker
Select set pieces takers, as explained in 1).
3) Select a captain of your team. A useless feature.
4) Formation
Formation means positioning of the outfield players.
a) Change
Select one of the offered formations. You can see how they would look
like on the left diagram. Generally, A is attacking and B is a defensive
version of the same formation. You should choose the formation that
suits your team. For example, if you have fast wingers (Roberto Carlos,
Babangida, Jarni), choose a formation to take advantage of their speed,
like 4-4-2 A, or even 3-4-3 A. If your team lacks quality or you just
like playing defensive, choose something like 5-3-2 or 5-4-1, excellent
for a counter attack strategy.
b) Defence type
You can set defence type for each player. There are three types to
choose from:
* Covering - a player stays on "his" piece of the field during
defensive movement,
* Zone marking (default) - a player moves with the rest of the team
in zonal defence
* Man to man marking - a player follows the opposition player, which
can be chosen on the diagram above with up/down.
c) Offence attitude
Determines whether a player should stay back, go with the team's
formation, or run forward (choose with left/right for each player).
d) Position edit
Allows you to edit a position of every single player, depending on a
chosen formation. You can also turn centre back (CB) into sweeper (SW,
player stays back in front of his keeper) or libero (LIB, player plays
slightly in front of his defenders). When you're done, press O and then
X to save it as the USER FORMATION.
5) STRATEGY
Choose the strategies of your team.
a) Strategy settings (manual & semi-auto)
Choose up to 4 strategies to use in the match. In MANUAL mode, you
assign strategies to 4 right-hand buttons, and turn them ON/OFF with
L2+chosen button. In SEMI-AUTO, computer changes strategies A1, A2, A3
during the match, and you are able to use the fourth strategy with L2.
Brief explanation of strategies:
Normal - normal build-up attack and standard defence
Centre attack - your players concentrate at the centre of the field
Right side attack - your players concentrate at the right side of the field
Left side attack - your players concentrate at the left side of the field
Opposite side attack - your players concentrate at the side opposite of the
player with ball
Change side - your forwards/wingers exchange sides
CB overlap - one of your centre backs comes forward
Zone press - your defence presses the ball
Counter attack - team develops quick counter attack with players running
forward
Offside trap - risky, but very useful way to defend
You can also choose 2 formations to change them in the game without pausing
it.
b) Offensive and defensive level
Unlike the menu says, you can choose your offensive and defensive level
with R2+SQUARE (more defensive) and R2+O (more offensive) if you choose
to do it manually. You can also let the computer do it for you during
the game.

= 3. TRUE PLAYER NAMES =
============================
ISS Pro Evolution 2, like previous ISS/Winning Eleven games, comes with
false player/stadium/club teams names. Licence, of course, they were
unwilling to pay big bucks for licence. As most of you know, stadiums,
Master League teams and players can't be edited (I'm not sure about
Game Shark though), but you can edit national team players. If you are a
true ISS/WE lover, you've probably done it already. However, it's hard to
find all players' correct names, and, even though I've tried my best, I
still may have some errors. I've been receiving many mails in which you
have warned me that "it's not Claudio, it's Lopez". Well, names stated
here are the names that players have on their shirts - that goes for
Claudio Lopez, too. If you find something you think is a wrong player name,
feel free to mail it to me at mazamic@inet.hr.
