The following taken from my review:
Liero, a mostly cult favored game among the internet crowd, has a large
underground following since it's release in 1998. The game started out
as a freeware programing project for the author and turned out to be a
game that would take hours away from people at a time. The game has
been compared to the most 2D version of Quake that could exist, and
with good reason.
Liero, a real-time spinoff of the game Worms features 40 weapons of
glory to nuke, inflame, blow up, fry, and melt your opponent with. From
the guided missles down to the super shotgun every weapon has it's
tactical advantages and disadvantes and a certain situation where it
will become indispensible. Liero is a two player game, play against the
CPU or blast your best friend to peices with your vast deadly arsenal.
Several completly customizable game style ranging from Kill Em All
(classic deathmatch) to Capture the Flag and Death Tag. You can
customize your worms colors and even appearance via a custom graphics
editor available. You can choose weapon reload rate, player health and
the number of deaths (or captures or minutes) per round.

Liero features several different types of gameplay, each offering a
different set of rules and a different set of strategies used in that
particular game to achieve the ultimate goal of victory.
Kill 'Em All: Your standard deathmatch type game. You can set the
frag limit for the match.
-=--=--=--=--=--=-
Game of Tag: Everytime you frag your opponent, he or she is "it". The
goal is to be the one that isn't it for a set amount of time.
-=--=--=--=--=--=-
Capture the Flag: Everyone knows this game. Capture the flag and
bring it back to your base for a point. You can set requied number of
captures to win.
-=--=--=--=--=--=-
Simple CTF: Same as Capture the Flag, except you don't need to bring
the flag back.
-=--=--=--=--=--=-
Laser Tag: This is my own setup within the game to play Laser Tag.
-First, set all weapons disabled except for the Laser.
-Second, set reload to 0.
-Third, set each worm's health to 1%
Can be played with any game setting you'd like (I prefer Game of Tag or
Kill Em All).

-Set reload time to zero for a great fastpaced match.
-If you are about to be killed, suicide :) The opponent won't gain a
frag that way.
-Weapons can take on new properties when they have no reload for
example:
*You can use the rifle as a jetpack by shooting yourself around
the room.
*A napalm into the ground is a cool looking way to suicide.
*Missles at zero reload are a GREAT way to clear some land.
-Use the rope swing like a third arm, or a tail if you prefer, it is
the best and fastest way to move around.
-If you hold up while guiding a missle it will go twice as fast.
-If the enemy is coming after you, plant a cluster bomb or a chiquita
bomb in the way and swing out of there.
-The key to survival is to keep moving, never stop, a moving target is
harder to hit than a still one.
Last but not least, the most important trick of them all:
-If playing against a friend, tell him to "Look over there" and then
cream the pants out of him, hehe. ^_^
