version 2.0

I logged into Ftp.Netcom.Com looking for an FAQ which would tell me
where I could find the scripts in Animaniacs. Since I couldn't find one, I
decided to make my own. If you would like to make any comments about this
FAQ or make any suggestions for additions, or just wanna say hi, send me
an Email. my address is - Byost@cis.usouthal.edu

legal stuff - copy, edit, redistribute, whatever. You may do anything to this
file you want, I don't care. Just be decent enough not to take credit for it
yourself, that's all I ask!

Here it is, version 2.0! This has a 100% complete listing of all 24
scenes from the script. Thanks to Jeff Nesbit, and Jason Chun for the
locations of the last 3 pieces that I hadn't found.

Also new to this version - Customized passwords! That's right. I have
successfully deciphered the password system for the game. The system is pretty
easy to work with, but unfortunately, the game is smart enough to realize when
a valid password leads to a situation that's not possible in normal gameplay,
and when that happens, it will simply put you at the beginning. :(
Oh well, at least you'll get to see the ending really fast!

Ending Spoilers and Boss Tips - I'll put the strategies in, and still
omit the spoilers for now, but if anyone wants them they should Email me,
because who needs spoilers with precise directions to the scripts and the
ability to manufacture a winning situation.

Now, without further ado, here's the FAQ.

---------------=======| Part 1 The Script Locations |=======--------------

There are 5 areas in the game that have script scenes to recover.

Sci-Fi Stage ....... 5
Fantasy Stage ...... 4
Aquatic Stage ...... 6
Adventure Stage .... 6
Pinky & The Brain .. 3

SCI-FI STAGE
~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) The first scene of the script is in the outdoor area at the beginning
of the stage. Proceed to the right until you see two pieces of terrain
that are taller than the screen. You will need at least two of the
Warner kids to collect this one. Go past the second tower, stack up,
and jump onto the tower on the right. The script is above this tower.
2) Proceed past the extraterrestrial background to the staircase. Near the
foot of the staircase is a scarecrow. Dash attack the scarecrow four
times, and its head will fly off and reveal the second scene of the
script. ** NOTE, be careful not to dash too far to the right, or else
the alien creature will appear and make life difficult for you.
3) After dash attacking the scarecrow, climb the stairway.
In stead of going through the door, make a short stack (3 Warners req.)
and jump to the left. The script is there.
(thanks to Jason Chun -- jchun@mercury.sfsu.edu)
4) The fourth piece of the script is in the area immediately after the
terminator boss. You will be in an area with many breakable objects
such as crates and stage lights. Ralph is also in this area. In stead
of going right, dodge Ralph and break the stage light on the left. This
will open a secret door to a bonus backstage area. When you exit this
area, Ralph will be gone, and you will be at the exit of this area. In
stead of climbing the ladder, go left, and break the first crate you
see. The script scene will be inside. Don't go much farther left, or
Ralph will reappear. In stead, go right and climb the ladder next to
Hello Nurse.
5) After completing the set scrolling screen with the giant gear, you'll
see an exit door along with the mime who's leaning on a cane. Take the
cane, and it'll turn into the last part of the script in this stage.
=============================================================================
FANTASY STAGE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

All four of the scenes of the script in the fantasy stage are in the
Anvilania section of the stage. Since these scripts are all found by going
to out of the way places and not by opening secret boxes, doors, etc, I will
give directions to the four of them in a step-by-step method to guide you
through the castle. Steps marked with a - are listed to give you an idea
where you should be, and are pretty much mandatory to finishing the stage
anyway. They're just listed so you'll know when the important steps are
comming up. A * indicates that you have a choice of paths (they aren't
always obvious on the screen) and these are the crittical steps to reaching
each of the four scenes in the Fantasy Stage.

1) - Dash under the first huge anvil.
- If you have at least 2 Warners, you may stack up to get over the wall
past the card soldiers. You're alone, you'll have to dash attack
all three soldiers to create a bridge of moving platforms in order
to proceed. (Note that these platforms move in two dimensions, so
be sure to be at the right depth into the screen to jump on them.
They are farthest back when moving to the right, and one level
closer when going back to the left.)
- Watch out for Ralph just past the wall. Pass him and bounce up the
cards protruding from the walls.
- Dash under the anivl.
- (Optional) Break the three card soldiers to open a secret bonus area.
- Dash under the anvil.
* Carefully cross the moving platforms to the right. Do not jump off of
the ledge. The platforms are completely off of the screen for half
of their movement area, so be patient.
- Dash through the line of card soldiers.
! Collect Scene #1.

2) - From the location of scent #1, jump off the ledge to the right.
- Watch out for Ralph at the bottom of the drop.
* Climb upon the first suit of armor to the right of where Ralph is.
* If you have three Warners, stack up, and jump to the springy cards
protruding from the wall to the left, or if you have insufficient
siblings, then allow Ralph to jump up onto the armor with you. Be
SURE to jump as he jumps up onto the armor, or he'll catch you.
Bounce off of his head onto the cards in the left wall.
! Bounce up the cards and collect the script that's hovering there.

3) - Drop back down from script piece #2, and be careful not to land in
Ralph's arms.
- Continue to the right, and bounce up the springy cards.
- Dash through the card soldiers. Do NOT jump off of the next ledge.
* You will need at least two warners here. Stack up in either of the
back two layers of the screen.
* Jump to the right, and bounce up the cards in the wall. (NOTE these
cards are staggered between the back two layers of the screen.)
! Collect script piece #3.

4) This is the only scene of the script that's out in the open. After
beating the king (by luring him under the anvil three times),
in stead of going through the exit that opens, go to the right,
and you will find scene #4.

=============================================================================
AQUATIC STAGE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The first area in the aquatic stage is complicated enough to merit a
play-by-play guidance to the three scenes there. This will be in
the same style as the fantasy stage guide.
1) - Jump on the raft and cross to the next island.
- Ride the barrel to the next island.
- Ride the raft across the water.
- Use either the barrel or the raft to cross the next water.
- Ride the barrel.
- Ride the raft to the island
(It will have a raft in the back left and a barrel in front of it.)
* Take the raft, and QUICKLY proceed left. Collect >>ALL<< of the coins
that leap out of the water, and a scipt scene will appear on a
nearby island. It is safe to jump from the raft to that island.
2) - Return to the island that had the raft going left and the barrel.
- Ride the barrel to the right. (Keep moving, and the shark will miss)
- Ride the raft, then the barrel, then the raft. While riding the second
raft in this sequence, there will be a line of coins. They don't lead
to a script, however.
* It is possible to leave the raft early and jump down onto an island.
--DON'T--
* In stead, continue to the right on the raft, to the island.
* While riding this next barrel back to the left, several coins will
pop out of the water in a zigzag pattern. Collect >>ALL<< of them,
and a scene from the script will appear on the island to the left.
3) - Ride the raft to the right.
(There is a set of coins that pops out here that I've NEVER gotten all
of. It's possible that this extremely difficult pattern of coins
leads to the last scene I haven't found here. If you know either way,
send me some Email.)
- Bounce across the pink shells to the island with a raft and a barrel.
* Use the raft.
! En route, a long line of coins will pop up. Collect them >>ALL<< to
get scene 3.
Ride the next raft to the end of this area. As long as you keep moving
at a steady pace, the shark cannot catch you.
4) To get script piece 4, defeat the second octopus on the pirate ship,
and then fire the cannon after a moment.
(Thanks to Jeff Nesbit -- Hobbes@unix.adeptcom.com)
5) Script scene 5 is on the pirate ship in the area where Ralph chases you.
There is a breakable crate in the second set of boxes that you run on.
It is hidden amongst the unbreakable boxes on the left side of an
opening in the boxes.
6) After beating Captain Mel's octopus, in stead of going through the exit,
go to the right, and the last scene in the aquatic stage will be there.
==============================================================================
ADVENTURE STAGE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1) You need all three Warners to get this one. Climb from the sign
pointing up to the platform. From there climb to the platform above you.
From there, stack up again, as far to the right as possible, and leap to
the 3-plank platform to the right. Once on that platform, stack up
again to get the script piece above you.

2) To reach this part of the script, begin at the sign pointing up the
ladder on the far side of the swamp. (You can dash attack the sign to
open a secret door.) Go left, avoiding the alligator until you come to
the lily pad in the backmost layer of the screen. (The second one you'll
come across) Bounce on this pad to the platform above you. Stack up
to reach the next platform. From there, jump to the single plank to your
left. This is a falling platform, so quickly hop up the platforms above
you (yes, they all fall too) until you reach the script piece.

3) This one is easy to get, but easy to accidentally leave behind, too. It
is in the swinging ropes area. Near the end of this section, you'll
swing into Buttons, knocking him off the screen. After climbing the
falling platforms, and swinging across one more rope, you'll be at the
end of the section. Carefully walk to the right, until Buttons returns
from orbit. He'll have a piece of the script. If you walk too fast,
he'll still arive, but you'll go to the next area before you can pick up
the scene.

4) Go through the first door you see. (It will be at the bottom of the
collapsing staircase.) Inside it will be a room with a vampyre flying
around and a lot of spring blocks on the floor. High up in the right
side of this screen is a piece of the script.

5) Near the end of the main area of the mines, there will be a group of
doors underneath a crushing ceiling. Go throught the next-to-last door
and the script will be right there.

6) In that same row of doors, go through the third from the left.
This leads to a room with Ralph, and a row of Gold coins in a diagonal
line above him. These mark some invisible stairs. Climb them to the
script piece.
(thanks to Jason Chun -- jchun@mercury.sfsu.edu)

=============================================================================
PINKY & THE BRAIN
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The three scenes from the script that Pinky and the Brain still have
are the easiest in the game to get, but two of them are not obvious. The
third appears when you defeat Pinky & The Brain, and the robot suit
explodes. The other two are obtained by throwing a bolt at the robot suit
while it's airborne. The first time you hit it from the air, you get a
scene, the second time, you get a gold coin, and the third time yields the
next-to-last piece.
#############################################################################
WINNING STRATEGIES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here are some tips on beating the bosses as quickly and with as
little pain as possible :)

Adventure Stage Boss
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The boss of the adventure stage is a large pair of mechanical
gorilla hands and a flying gyrocopter. The copter is what you need to
destroy to defeat this boss. It flies back and forth across the screen
and will always be in the plane of the screen that your Warner is, so
to hit it, pick up a coconut, jump, and throw it to the side the copter is
on. The monkey hands have three behaviors: they will pound the ground
alternately, they will simultaneously pound the ground at the sides of the
screen, causing two coconuts to fall, and they will attempt to clap you
between them. They can only harm you by pounding you underneath them, or
clapping you between them.
As you enter this area, the fists will both pound the ground,
causing two coconuts to drop. Grab a coconut, walk out from under the copter,
jump and throw. Do the same thing with the other coconut. You should be able
to hit it twice before the hands have pounded the ground more than three
times. Hint - walk in the opposite direction the copter's going to get out
from under it quickly. As long as you don't move into or out of the screen,
you should be guaranteed a hit.
Soon, the fists will pound again, dropping two more coconuts.
Use them to clobber the gyrocopter. After another series of alternating
poundings, the hands will then try to clap you between them. You can see
it coming because the hands will open up and face together. As you see this
happening, move to the back center of the screen, and as they come together,
jump and move forward. After a few more pounds, the hands will pound down
two more coconuts. Hit the gyro with both, and you've won. Be sure to stay
away from the copter when it crashes, or you'll be smashed along with it!
Sci Fi Stage Boss
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After you clear the last pit of molten metal, the screen will return
to its normal color. When this happens, get in the bottom row and dash to
the right. You will hit the switch. Time your dashes so that you're hitting
the switch exactly when it returns to its regular position. If you time it
just right, you'll be able to get all 3 before the terminator catches you.

If your timing is off, then hit the bottom one 5 times, and the
middle one as many times as you possibly can before the terminator reaches
you. At the last possible moment, jump straight up, move slightly over, and
bounce off of his head to escape to the other side of the screen. Wait for
him to chase you, and wait until the absolute last moment to bounce back over
him to the switches. Repeat until terminator's a pancake!

Fantasy Stage Boss
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The goal is to lure him under the anvil to squash him under it three
times. The easiest way to achieve this is to simply run around avoiding him
until the anvil goes up. If he is running away from it when it does, dash
under it. It will crash down between you and the king. He will run up against
it, and you should get right in front of it, too, but be sure that you are
in a different row than the king is. Just before the anvil rises, hit the A
button to get ready to dash, and when the anvil moves, hit A to dash under it.
the king will turn around, but not soon enough to get out from under the
anvil. <> Do this two more times, and you're the winner.
Aquatic Stage Boss
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The boss of this stage is an octopus ridden by Captain Mel. This
octopus will take four hits to destroy. However, this one may become
invulnerable from time to time, so you'll need to act quickly.
(this strategy works for all the octopi, by the way)
As the octopus is climbing up the side of the ship, use this time to push
the canon slightly to the left of center. Captain Mel will shake his fist
at you and then the octopus will begin its attack by raising IT's right
tentacle (the one on the left of your screen) :)
As soon as it does, take a hop onto the canon. The shell should smack him
at the instant he's vulnerable. Don't wait, while he's reeling from the
first hit, fire another. Time it so that it lands right when the stun has
worn off. By now, the octopus will start going down. Once he's disapeared,
fire a shot so that it hits him just as he peeks over the side. Use the time
he's stunned to fire your last shot. If you time it right, it'll smack him
before he can come all the way up and turn invincible.
What a wimp!

Pinky & The Brain
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Brain will jump into his robotic suit to challenge you.
He has 4 different attacks. The first is to simply run straight at you.
Avoid it by running off the edge of the screen and warping to the other side.
Keep doing that until he stops running at you. Theo other attacks come from
the air. He will float towards you dropping little flames, or large iron
balls. If he's dropping flames, just go back and forth through the edge
to keep him in the middle of the screen. That way, all the fire falls
harmlessly to the center of the screen. If he drops the balls, simply jump
off the edge of the screen to warp to the other side. You may land on the
balls safely. His final attack is to drop two little enemies at you.
As you see him drop the first one, hit button A to prepare to dash.
As soon as the second one comes down, dash attack them to destroy them.
Once all of his attacks from the air fail, Brain will drive the
suit off the top of the screen and come crashing down. Be sure not to be
under him when he hits the ground. You should try to be near the center of
the screen at this time. When he crashes, Brain will cause a nut and a
bolt to drop from the ceiling. Grab whichever is nearest to the center.
Smack him with it, and grab the other one. (Note- while he's stunned you
can go through him, so use this to your advantage if he's too near the
other projectile.) You may want to lure him away from the other object
before throwing yours so that you will be able to pick it up easily and
safely. When you do pick it up, save it. Avoid the running attack until he
goes airborne. When he does, let'm have it, and he will crash and drop a
piece of the script. Grab it QUICKLY or else Pinky will run out and get it
back. Once you've gotten 2 script pieces, just throw both objects while
he's running, why wait 'till he's airbourne? It takes a total of 8 hits
to destroy The Brain's mechanical suit.
#############################################################################
ENDINGS
~~~~~~~

In lieu of ending spoilers, I shall in stead point out the factors
that trigger the endings. There are 3 endings. The first happens when you
have found less than 10 script scenes. The middle ending happens when you've
done better than 10, but have forgotten / missed even one scene. The best
ending happens only to those with a perfectly complete script. And might I
say that all three endings are good, especially if you're a fan of the show.

Note: The best ending has more after the credits.
So don't hit that power switch!

#############################################################################

CUSTOMIZED PASSWORDS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At long last, here is what you've all been waiting for, the decoded password
system for the game! The number of Warners drowned in the Aquatic stage to
get a password I am not at liberty to release at this time! :)
Across the top of the password screen you'll see the faces of Animaniacs
characters. Y = Yakko, W = Wakko, D = Dot, R = Ralph, P = Pinky, B = Brain,
N = Hello Nurse, and C = The C.E.O.
To create a password, you'll need to start with what I call a 'base code.'
A base code is one that has nothing changed, and is in fact, the same as
starting a new game. There are 8 of them (one for each character) but the
page of them was torn from my notepad, so I only have one for you at the
moment, but that's enough to build on.
In the section below, I will list what to change in order to make something
in the game different. These changes will be to add some number. For
instance, if you see +4, you will need to change the current face to the one
that is four spaces to the right, so if the current face is Yakko, you should
change it to Pinky. If there aren't enough spaces left, you should start
over, so Hello Nurse + 4 would give you Dot.
There are 12 spaces in the password grid which will be numbered as follows:
rows are numbered 1 - 3, and columns are lettered A - D.
So the top left corner is 1A, the bottom right corner is 3D, and so forth.
In the next session, each variable of the game will be listed in a table,
along with what change to make to activate it. So for example to register
script piece 1 from the Aquatic stage, you will see 2C+2, which means to
adjust the second row's third picture to the right by two.
**NOTE**
VERY IMPORTANT: Whatever you do to modify any space must be done to space 3C
as well. This is how the game checks the code for validity.
So, in the previous example, you changed 2C to the right by
two to get Aquatic script #1, and you ALSO must do the same
to 3C.
Stage Completion
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To cause a certain stage to be completed, adjust 3C and the indicated
spaces as follows:

Intro Stage : 1B+1
Aquatic : 1A+1
Fantasy : 1B+4
Sci-Fi : 1B+2
Adventure : 1A+2
Pinky & Brain : 1A+4

Script Pieces
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The scripts will be in the order listed in the FAQ above.
Aquatic : 2C+2 2C+4 2B+2 2B+4 2B+1 2C+1
Fantasy : 2A+4 2A+2 1D+1 2A+1
Sci-Fi : 1D+2 1C+1 1D+4 1C+2 1C+4
Adventure : 3A+1 3A+2 3A+4 2D+4 2D+1 2D+2
Pinky & Brain : 3B+2 3b+4 3b+1
Base Codes
~~~~~~~~~~
Y W D R
P B N C
Y W D R

This is the one base code I still have. Space 3D should never change. That
is the one that the computer uses to know what base code you're using.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope that didn't confuse you TOO much! :)

If you just want to see the ending, enter the following password:

1) Start with the Base code.
2) Adjust all spaces except 3C and 3D to the left by one.
3) Adjust space 3C to the left by 2.
4) Beat Pinky & The Brain, and watch the show.

ex: C Y W D This is a password for 100% completion.
R P B N Just defeat Pinky & The Brain.
C Y Y R
