Footnote:
This faq is designed to give you a few fast methods to AP, or to a bit
slower method that has other bonuses. Whichever you chose, I think
there are relatively no spoilers in this guide, and it is immensely
helpful if you need levels. Try not to use all your spheres on aeon
stat upping, and try to get at least one high powered character for the
last two methods. If you have another method, email either of us and
we'll put it in and credit you. The fighting system in FFX is more fun
than most any other RPG, so why not have powerful characters! Okay,
lets get to it.

Method 1
(note): this method is quick and easy, but expect to use a lot of
phoenix downs. It doesn't require much cash or power either.
Requirements
I have found a less hassling, and easier way to gain a bunch of AP,
but there are some requirements to this trick.
(A) You must have the airship
(B) You have to have all of the Thunder Plain monsters.
(C) You must have the overdrive=AP ability on your weapons
(D) You have to have a lot of Phoenix Down's
(F) You must have the overdrive mode On "Stoic", or you wont get the
exp.
(G) Auto-Phoenix helps a lot.
(H) Capture weapons for the creatures.
(I) Comrade Overdrive setting (optional)

How to do it:
Ok, Now that your ready to Experience the Higher levels,
but be warned, you must make cactuar run, or beat him to get the levels.
Go to Calm Lands and make sure you have your Overdrive=AP weapons on
And go over to the arena, and play against Cactuar King (in zone
conquer).
And when the battle starts, immediately cast Hastega on your party.
Cactuar should make his first attack, and if not, have the character use
a move that will hit cactuar king, and that character is set for the
battle, but if cactuar king attacked, use a pheonix down on whoever died
and then attack. One thing you have to watch out for though, is to
watch your timing, If he has a turn right after yours, then you should
fix anything you have to, but anything you do just DO-NOT-ATTACK!!, it
makes this match really hard, because he will kill 2 characters. Make
sure your limit setting is either on stoic, or comrade, so his 100,000
damage translates into that much AP. Ok, presuming you hit him with all
the characters you want to gain levels, continue to do a phoenix down,
guard, phoenix down, guard, and after you've had enough, or you died,
you should have at least 100,000AP after the battle. (You get AP even
if you run away, or if up to 2 characters died!) After the battle, buy
more phoenix down's, save, use levels, and then do it again. Do this
for awhile, and the other monsters become a breeze!

Optional other monsters to use for this method:
Don Tonberry: You need to have captured enough monsters to have Don
Tonberry. I think it may be all the monsters from either the Sunken
cave, or from inside Sin. Either way, he will hit anyone that does
ANYTHING to him with a counterattack that does a lot of damage depending
upon that characters kills. Generally Tidus, and whoever else you use
are good choices. So either set your limit to Stoic or Comrade and
start hitting or stealing from the Don. He will counterattack until he
gets up to the front row. Then either kill him or run, or just sit
around for awhile and let him hit you. Use phoenix downs to stay alive.
(Note: Cronorye was the first to have a method similar to this in his
guide, so upon request I will put his name here, though I devised this
method myself).

Nemesis: If you have 10 of every monster in the game, you get this
insanely hard monster to go against. In this method, we will not be
trying to kill him. You need at least 2 of the 3 characters to have the
white magic "Auto life," which you should cast repeatedly. Try to have
your limit on Comrade, and have your correct weapons out. Nemesis will
counterattack most any action with either a physical blow running around
98000 hp, or with Ultima or another spell that do around 96-99K of
damage. With auto-life, you can come back alive, and if you manage to
stay alive for awhile, then run for your life, you will gain a LOT of
experience. This is even better than the previous two monsters if you
can stay alive, because he will do around 98000 damage to all party
members, making comrade overdrive take about 190000 AP for each hit he
does. Good Luck!

Method 2
(note: this is the most common way people use to level up, but I find it
tedious after a while).
Requirements:
(A) A strong party, consisting of at least one member with the
capability to do about 50,000 damage (yes, that means you need his/her
ultimate weapon. Tidus, Auron, Wakka, Lulu, or Yuna are good choices.
Don't use Yuna's summons though, cuz they only give her experience).
(B) An Airship in order to get a Master Tonberry captured from Omega
Dungeon.
(C) Weapons for at least two members with Double AP, or Triple Overdrive
and Overdrive=>AP on them. (optional)
(D) Capture weapons for the tonberry.

How to do it:
Go to the training facility and fight the master tonberry from Omega
Dungeon. Have each weak character block once, then have the strong
character hit the tonberry for a lot of damage. It will kill him.
Anything less will result in avg to severe damage to you. You will get
20,000 AP, 30,000 for an overkill. If you have double AP, that's 40-60
grand. And with triple overdrive and overdrive-ap on your weapon, the
possibilities are endless.

Method 3
(note: this is the most obvious way of leveling up, and the most hectic.
Watch out if you plan to do this, it has its ups and its downs).
Requirements:
(A)A buff party, with at least one master damage dealer (i.e. over max
damage available).
(B)Weapons with double AP (optional, help a lot though).
(C)Auto-Phoenix (also optional)
(D)Airship

How to do it
You need to go to Omega Dungeon, which is located on the mid right side
of the map (use search to find it) and start fighting. To start out,
I'd recommend staying around the save sphere. For you new comers, this
area does hold the not so ultimate monsters Ultima and Omega Weapon. If
you run across them, it will probably be an easy fight, but remember to
use lancet with Kimari on Omega, for Kimari's best limit, and if you
have the cash, bribe Ultima for a little under 2 million gil for some
great items. Anyway, this is just fighting. The monsters are hard and
unpredictable. If you get in a fight with a single Zauraus (lizard) and
a treasure chest, always steal from the chest. It will either yield a
turbo either, a mega potion, or a Mimic monster, which if killed gives
you 50,000 gil, 100,000 with Guillionare on a weapon. The monsters you
should watch out for are the Great Marlboro, which will often ambush
you. Either run away, or kill him with your first attack, if you get
one. Bad breath is a killer attack, no matter how you look at it.
First strike on at least one weapon. Zauraus has a stone attack, but
it's not too hard to deal with. The bonus of this method is that you
will get lots of rare weapons, a lot more spheres than the other two
methods, and a lot more gil, if you kill the mimics. However, it is the
most risky, as I say.

Method 4
(note: This is the slowest of level up types, but it allows you to be
fairly passive while you do it, and watch a movie or play a boardgame or
whatever. Also, upon request I will note that this was first posted by
Cronorye, though I got it from a different source).

Requirements:
(A)Overdrive type either Ally or Hero (the one that charges on your
turn, or if only one member is alive).
(B)Access to very weak monsters.
(C)A weapon with Overdrive to AP.
(D)A weapon with triple overdrive (optional)

How to do it:
Go to a location with very weak monsters, and get in a fight. If you
have the hero/loner overdrive that charges when both others are dead,
kill your other members. Otherwise use ally and leave them all alive.
Kill down to one enemy. Then set your cursor to memory (should do this
before hand) and have each character either pray, or defend. Now just
keep hitting the button for maybe a half hour or so. This trick will
not work infinitely, because apparently the American version of the game
has a cap on AP for this type of somewhere around 30,000. That's not
much. Anyway, this is the 4th and least effective method.

____ANYTHING YOU SHOULD KNOW____
1. Overdrive=AP

To get this Underrated ability, Use 10 Doorways of tomorrow
and customize a Good weapon,
and if you want even more exp, get it with Double AP ability!

2. Auto-Phoenix
This ability is learned from 30 mega phoenix's, and it helps out a lot,
no matter where you are. Equip it to a free slot in your armor, but be
warned, mega phoenix's are not easy to come by.
3. Triple AP
This insanely hard to get ability adds 3 times the AP after a fight. It
takes 50 Wings to Beyond, which are hard to get. I would recommend not
doing this, but instead to the double. Also, if you are lucky you can
get them from the Flying Eye monster that the training fac guy makes if
you give him 4 of every eyeball or so. This is an easy fight, because
he only has around 250,000 hit points.
4. Double AP
This useful ability is available with 20 Megalixers. You can get these
throughout the game, and bribe a Varuna with a little over 1 million gil
to get 20. Put it on your weapon. Note that this does not help in
gaining AP in method one, as you have to win to get double AP.
5. Triple Overdrive
This ability, when combined with Overdrive=>AP is quite useful. To get
it, use 30 Winning Formula's, available through the monster facility (99
for all zone conquer) or you can bribe 15 of them from a sand worm, for
a bit less than 1 million gil.
6. Skip Turns
In a battle, if a character has done nothing, they receive nothing. In
order to get experience, let each character at least defend themselves
once before killing the fiend for them all to get experience.
7. Guillionare
A weapon ability that gives double the gil, and takes something like 10
Generous Wallets to equip. You can get 99 for monster capturing.
