Not since the days of Tony Hart's Morph have we seen such an amusing clay
hero. Klayman's home world is in trouble and only he can save it -- with
the help of the PowerStation monkey spankers, of course!
Passwords
I'm sure by now you've probably realised how huge this game actually is,
certainly in terms of the number of levels. So to help you and Klayman on
the quest to defeat Klogg Monkey, here are the ten-level location
passwords:
As you complete level after level, location after location, you'll come
across a number of different enemies. Nearly all of them can be killed the
same way, by simply jumping on top of them - so get spanking those monkeys,
folks!
Regular Monkey These guys just run from side to side between crouching
down. Wait for the furry fella to stop running before jumping on top of
them.
Monkey With Clay Ball These chaps are basically the same as the regular
monkeys, only they leave a clay ball behind when bounced on.
Blue Monkey Er, you guessed it. These colourful primates are just as
predictable as the regular monkeys, only they dress in blue -- but don't
carry a badge!
Jumping Monkey Wow, a new challenge! These happy primates jump upwards in a
bid to thwart your progress. So just wait for them to land before jumping
on top of them.
Headless Monkey! The toughest monkey so far. This hairy ape stays in one
place, but sends his head floating towards you. Either back up and wait for
it to explode, or attempt to jump past it. The only problem is that once
he's released one head, another appears almost instantly.
Flaming Monkey They move from side to side and are very, very hot. There's
only a small amount of time when these guys are vulnerable: wait for them
to turn brown briefly, then strike. Or simply jump over them and continue
on your path -- the choice is yours.
Rocket Monkey Now things are getting a little more difficult for you.
Although they don't move around, they do fire huge lumps of clay in your
direction. Either duck or charge at them before they can fire. Jumping on
their hands will take them out.
Skinless Monkey These scary-looking monkeys certainly shed, then grow their
hair back faster than Tottenham can plummet into the First Division. You're
better off waiting for them to stop - surprise, surprise - before leaping
on top of them.
Green Monkey Easy enough to explain. They're green, and act/move the same
as their blue counterparts.
Blue/Red Insect These ugly bugs act just like a regular monkey; moving from
side-to-side, pausing to take a gander at the scenery. Thus you can kill
them as you would the monkeys.
Green/Purple Insect The only way to kill these flying pests is with a
bullet. If you try to jump on top of them you'll only end up losing a life.
Flying Dude I'm not sure quite what to make of this menace. You don't
actually face these guys until you're near the end. Anyway, if you duck
when they approach, you should avoid them.
Pick ups
Along your journey you'll need to pick up certain items in order to
progress. Below is a list of those items:
1970s No particular advantage, but it does take you back to the '70s (Phil
cheers in background!), so you can strut your stuff!
Bullet This is just the thing to cure those painful headaches when a monkey
gets you. Just blast the little bugger into dust. It won't be so cheerful
now!
Clay Ball Collect 100 clay balls and you'll be rewarded with an extra life.
Glidey Bird These high flyers help you gradually glide back down to Earth;
thus giving you a greater chance to clear those long gaps in the ground.
Halo The halo acts like a shield. It protects you from one hit, enabling
you to continue on if you get careless.
Ma Bird The Ma Bird is a checkpoint for your progress, so you can restart
here if killed. When you reach one, jump on it to activate it.
One Up You guessed it! An extra life awaits Klayman if you come across one.
Phart Head It would be more appropriate to name it 'Ryan, ex-editor of
PowerStation', but alas, we shall not. Why, because this guff of wind can
be used to take out your enemies.
Phoenix Hand Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Er, yes it is a bird! These
winged helpers fly off and do things other heroes cannot reach.
Present Ball It's Christmas all over again! Jump on the present ball to
find a random pick-up.
Slappy The Hamster Slappy, or rather, three Slappys rotate around Klayman,
protecting him from the evils of the world. You could say that they slap
the monkeys instead of spanking them!
Super Willie This is not something for all the girls out there! No, this
pick-up is of Klayman's friend, Willie. If there's an item out of reach,
Willie will get it.
Swirly Q Like the 1970s pick up, collect three of these and you'll be able
to visit a bonus level -- just full of clay balls and other goodies.
Teleport Well, what can I say accept they transport you to another level?
Universe Enema Now we're talking. Klayman is magically transformed into a
huge superhero, killing every enemy on screen with his almighty powers.
General Goofing Around Tips
It's not particularly essential, but it does help you delve into the psyche
of Klayman:
Waiting If you let Klayman stand around doing sod all long enough, he'll
eventually do something amusing. Whether it's an exploding head,
interchangeable body parts, or just plain dropping his pants, it's bound to
cheer some miserable git up!
Three In A Row By landing on three enemies in a row (jumping from one head
to the next) you'll earn a little "Hurrah!" from our moulded hero.
