You know the drill, don't copy anything in this text without asking
(unless it's only one level you wish to borrow), and don't post this
on your site without asking either. You can copy it for personal use
however, as long as you then don't sell it as your own.
Units
Example layout:
(name of unit)
(Game's description of unit)
(Stats)
(My description)
Land only units (excluding transport)
Ant
The ant is a fast walker, and can throw bombs farther than the pill bug.
Attack 6. Defence 3
One of the most common units, ants are fairly decent troops. They can
carry weapons, which makes them even better.
Assassin bugs
This stealthy bug can pass undetected through defensive perimeters and deliver
one powerful blow.
Attack 2. Defence 0
These units are no good at general fighting, but can deliver an incredibly
powerful first strike, which also makes the enemy dizzy, allowing other units
to safely inflict even more damage. Make sure you don't use them for regular
fighting however, you will regret it.
Cockroach
A very strong defender, the cockroach is also immune to poison and
harmful terrain.
Attack 6. Defence 7.
Really good overall units, you'll want your armies to consist of tons
of cockroaches. Unfortunately, the enemy seems to get more then you
do.
Commander
A commander gives attack and defence bonuses to friendly bugs within
his command radius
Attack 6. Defence 5.
Commanders are often useful for raising your troops morale, helping
them to inflict more damage and to take more damage. They often have
specific names such as, Winston Anthill, Adolf Antler, etc.
Flea
A fast walker who can make short jumps, the flea is a weak fighter.
Attack 4. Defence 7.
Weak and way too common, at least the fleas have a good walking speed
and a decent defence.
Grasshopper
The grasshopper is a very powerful jumper with a moderately potent
attack but is a very weak defender.
Attack 8. Defence 1.
Great for supporting battles and grabbing food quickly, the grasshopper
is a fairly good unit. Just one thing though, NEVER let them be attacked
first by another unit, they will die very quickly.
Jumping spider
A weaker jumper but a stronger defender than the grasshopper, and the
fastest walker of all.
Attack 8. Defence 4.
Another decent unit, I use them to get to places quickly where they
can defend it until the other units arrive.
Medic ant
The medic ant can heal injured bugs, but needs energy to do it. Medics
do not fight at all.
Attack 0. Defence 0.
They can't heal during battle like the medics on Starcraft(TM), so
I feel that they aren't all that useful. The only good thing is that
they can help bugs health regenerate faster.
Pill bug
Pill Bugs can throw bombs (though not as far as ants). They are tough
defenders, and are immune to explosives.
Attack 7. Defence 7.
Pill bugs are great overall units like the cockroach. They may not have
much health, but the fact they can use weapons and are immune to
explosions makes up for it.
Praying mantis
This bug has an extremely powerful attack, and can overwhelm any bug
except a rhinoceros beetle.
Attack 16. Defence 5.
One of the best units, you had just better be careful of their moderate
defence. Their health can sink surprisingly quickly.
Rhinoceros Beetle
The most powerful fighter of all, the rhinoceros beetle walks at the
same speed, regardless of terrain.
Attack 16. Defence 7.
THE best units, they have a crapload of health, can shrug off bombs,
and have a really damaging attack to boot! In any other game
they would be classed as 'heavy infantry/tanks.' This means that they
don't travel too fast and are rather rare, but you'll love the levels
where you get them!
Spider
This bug is the only unit that can attack multiple bugs simultaneously.
It is the most effective against a crowd of enemies occupied with
another unit.
Attack 14. Defence 4.
Due to the rarity of these units (except for the enemy), the only thing
I can say about them is that they are good when you get them.
Stink bug
As long as it has energy, this bug can break wind, confusing foes.
It is immune to cheese bomb fumes, and turns into a cheese itself
when killed.
Attack 4. Defence 2.
A poor overall unit, I use them for distractions and to slow down
the enemy. If the enemy has set up a cheese barricade, these guys
can travel through them very quickly.
Flying units (excluding transport)
Bee
The Bee is a strong fighter with superior range, and makes an excellent
long range bomber
Attack 13. Defence 4.
Another great overall unit, you'll find you mostly use them for bombing
raids, but don't forget that they have a good attack.
Lightning bug
A moderately good fighter, the lightning bug is a stronger fighter than
the mosquito, but weaker than the bee.
Attack 10. Defence 3.
Another rare unit. I usually use them for food raids or to help my units
in fighting.
Mosquito
The mosquito is the fastest flier and has a sharp bite, but is a weak
defender
Attack 8. Defence 2.
Not much to say about these guys, except that they are really good for bombing
raids (and helping your units fight).
Robber fly
This bug can steal bombs from enemies, but can carry only one at a
time. It is the only unit that can disengage from battle.
Attack 4. Defence 2
The fact that they can steal bombs is great, the fact that they can
only carry one at a time is not so great. Whenever these units appear, make
sure you steal as many bombs as you can and do as much
damage as possible with the bombs you get.
Wasp
The wasp is the most powerful fighter of all the fliers.
Attack 15. Defence 6
Watch out for wasps, they are deadly. They especially like to bomb you
then attack your weakened units. They are just a more powerful version
of the bee, plus they look cool too.
Water units (excluding transports)
Diving beetle
Of the bugs that can cross water, the diving beetle is by far the best
fighter.
Attack 15. Defence 6.
A little slow, even when crossing water. Their good health and attack
levels make up for that though.
Water bug
This bug is a weak fighter that walks slowly on land but very quickly
on water.
Attack 4. Defence 2.
Apart from being able to grab food quickly (as long as there is a trail
of liquid leading to it) these guys are useless. Even fleas can defeat
them! AVOID USING IN BATTLES UNLESS NECESSARY.
Transports
Moth
The moth can aerially transport one other bug (except for rhinoceros
beetles and other transports).
Attack 2. Defence 1.
If they could drop any bombs they would have been so much better.
Unfortunately, they are weak, and slow both to fly and to walk. The
one good thing is that they can get slow units to their destination
quickly.
Water boatman
This bug can cross water while carrying one another bug (except Rhino
beetles and other transports). It has a reasonably strong attack.
Attack 10. Defence 4
Slow yet powerful, these guys are mainly used to get units across water and to
help in difficult fights. Not much else to say really.
General tactics
Sometimes I will mention certain 'moves' that you can use against the
enemy to swing the battle in your favour. If my walkthroughs aren't
working for you, try using combinations of these to help you win.
Pincer attack
Using at least 2 bugs, have them approach the enemy from the sides
and attack. This tactic is best when you are trying to kill a
particularly stubborn enemy.
Ganging up
This is a simple tactic that involves you getting a large group
of your units to attack a single or small group of enemy units.
This tactic is often VERY successful, as long as your units don't
get stuck. Try setting your units in a 'U' shape for an even
more successful attack.
Group war (aka survival in numbers)
Have your units go into a large group and make their defence radius
rather large, so they can gang up on people. Great for some levels,
not so good for others.
Defence first
Seen in the level Gang of two, put your unit with the highest
defence rating in front of the battle line so it gets attacked
first. Another point about enemy units, kill the ones with the
lowest defence ratings first, this improves your chance of
victory.
Extra height
If you are up on a high surface, you can throw weapons further, and
some will even do more damage (eg rocks).
Sneaking
If you have a unit and the enemy has the exact same unit, you can
try to sneak up on them from behind, almost insuring a victory if
they are the only units left. The problem is the surviving unit will
have only a point of health left so they will be rather useless
except for helping in fights or grabbing food. (If you didn't
understand that think of it like this, you have a full health ant
and they have a full health ant. Approaching from behind, you can
get in the first attack which will let you win the fight.
Protection
If you have a commander or very important bug that you need to protect,
have your units surround it. Easy, but if you can't do it this way
try having your units get in a clump in front of the bug.
Assassination
If you need to kill an important enemy unit such as a commander, there
are a few tactics you can use.
i. An assassin bug can do a high amount of damage to a unit, but often
needs to be followed by an ant or another fast unit, so you can finish
them off.
ii. If they are being protected by many units, you can either bomb
them, or try and get an air unit to land directly on top of the unit.
Make sure you have some other units to distract the others however.
Suicide bombing
There are three ways of doing a suicide bomb.
i. This can only be done with an ant that has 2 bombs and full health,
or 1 bomb and half health. If your ant is being pursued by enemies
and can't seem to shake them off, have him unload his bomb supply
directly into the enemies. Your ant will probably be killed by the
explosion.
ii. Get your unit to throw all the bombs at the enemy units, then
charge straight into them and fight whichever enemy seems to be
the biggest threat.
iii. Get an expendable unit to battle the enemy units, then when
it is close to death or has just died, unload your bomb supply
into the enemy.
Distraction
Important for food gathering levels, have an expendable unit get
into a battle with an approaching enemy. Hopefully your unit
can grab the food while your other unit is fighting. Another thing
you can do is to have a unit run around an enemy unit, make sure
the enemy wants to chase it though.
Chokepoint cheese
There are some maps where the best way the enemy can get to you is
through a very small area. Throw a cheese in there, and then you
can set up an ambush at another entry point (if there is one). If
they try to get through the cheese, you can move your ambush over
there.
Cheese fighting
VERY tricky to do, throw a cheese then when the enemy unit is just
in the edge of the cheeses 'dizziness' radius, have one of your
units attack. I've had an ant kill a diving beetle this way while
suffering only minor damage, but it's very hard to do. Try
practising this tactic on the level 'Say your prayers'
Cheese filtering
If a total army of enemy units are charging at you, you can throw
a cheese at them, which will not only slow them down, but will let
you take them on in smaller groups.
Level Walkthroughs
Example layout:
(Level name here)
(Units you have)
(Units they have)
(Best method of victory, either getting food or killing enemy units)
(Time limit)
(Solution)
Boot camp 1: Dirt simple
You have: 2 ants
They have: 1 ant
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 1 hour
Get both red ants to attack the grey ant at the bottom. Easy.
Boot camp 2: Mad bomber
You have: 1 ant w/3 bombs
They have: 3 spiders
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 30 mins
Get your ant to run away from the spiders and try to walk around either
edge of the plastic-like substance. The spiders should slow down and you
can finish them off with the bombs.
Boot camp 3: Food flight
You have: 2 lightning bugs
They have: 1 praying mantis
Win by: Stealing food
Time: 30 mins
This level can get a little tricky. You must try to grab as much food as
possible before the enemy does. You have the advantage of numbers and speed.
Try to grab the pizza and/or the pop tart as they give you the most points.
If you wish, you can use one of your bugs as a distraction, while the other
gets the food. Make sure you have quite a bit of food before trying this,
as the praying mantis will make fast work of the lightning bug.
Boot camp 4: I got a rock
You have: 1 ant w/3 rocks
They have: 1 cockroach
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 10 mins
Get your ant to run up the 'hill' of cereal, then throw rocks at the
cockroach as he is in range. Remember, rocks do more damage if thrown
from high altitudes. You must throw them from the very top of the cereal
box or the cockroach may still have enough health to kill your ant.
Boot camp 5: Gang of two
You have: 1 pill bug, 1 grasshopper
They have: 1 praying mantis
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 30 mins
There is a trick to this level, you must take into account the defence
ratings of your bugs, the pill bug has a higher rating then the grasshopper
so he must attack first. Get the grasshopper to jump behind the pill bug,
then either wait for the praying mantis to attack the pill bug first, or
send the pill bug to attack, shortly followed by the grasshopper.
Gang of four
You have: 3 ants, 1 pill bug
They have: 1 praying mantis
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 2 mins
Only slightly different to the last level, this requires some manoeuvring
of your troops. Get your pill bug to attack the mantis. Get your ants to
run behind the pill bug (ie, walk them over to the pill bug and stay a
fair distance behind, but not too far). You should finish this level without
too much trouble.
Leftovers
You have: 1 spider, 1 ant, 1 mosquito
They have: 1 ant, 1 lightning bug
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 10 mins
Speed is the key to this level, you must get all your units to the left
olive as fast as possible, the mosquito should get there first. Let
the mosquito be attacked by the lightning bug, then get your ant to attack
it. When the mosquito dies get your spider to attack any remaining enemy
units.
Basement race
You have: 2 diving beetles, 1 water bug, 1 ant
They have: 2 pill bugs
Win by: Getting food
Time: 55 secs
Using the pathmaking tool, make your water bug take the fastest route
through the oil to get to the bun at the top. Make the diving beetle on
the left chase the nearest pill bug. Now make your ant and other diving
beetle go to the packet of shards on the right hand side. On the way to the
chips a pill bug should run into the matches then bump into your diving
beetle. Make the diving beetle attack him. When the water bug has captured
the bun, make him attack the pill bug that is on his way. There is some
luck needed in this stage, as your ant may get stuck on the way, the water
bug may accidentally step off the oil and slow down, etc.
A crisis of leadership
You have: 2 pill bugs, 1 commander
They have: 2 bees, 2 mosquitoes
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 30 mins
Make your commander walk to the spot just north of the place where the oil
'rivers' meet. Try to make your pill bugs walk to the commander, but make
sure they stay in capturing range of the food. The bonus given to the
units by your commander is enough to win.
Cola commotion
You have: 2 ants, 1 pill bug, 1 moth
They have: 2 pill bugs
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 5 mins
Get your pill bug into the moth then fly him over to the salami at the top
of the level. Get your ants to make their way there too. As soon as the moth
lands, have him unload the pill bug then have them both attack the nearest
pill bug. When the ants arrive, have them help out against the second pill
bug.
Basic insink
You have: 2 bees w/1 bomb each, 2 ants, 2 mosquitoes, 2 cockroaches,
1 ant w/2 firecrackers
They have: Exactly the same as you
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 10 mins
The first real warzone stage, it takes a little bit of planning to go
your way. Firstly, get your mosquitoes and bees to attack the enemy
bees, this way you get rid of the chance of being bombed. You will lose
your mosquitoes in these attacks, but they are of little use anyway.
The enemy mosquitoes will most likely attack one of your cockroaches. Get a
nearby ant to assist him in killing the mosquitoes. Now check to see which
side the enemy is coming down. Usually they come down the right-hand side of
the sink and one ant goes down the left. Move your firecracker ant just behind
the cockroach on the side that the enemy is mainly approaching from. When the
first enemy ants arrive, use a group of a cockroach and ant to kill them. By
now your bees should have finished their battle. Get them to bomb the two
enemy cockroaches then land with the rest of your units. Now get the
firecracker ant to throw his explosives at the cockroaches. If the bees were
too slow, use the firecrackers first, then let the bombs drop. If they
survived all that, get all your units to attack them. Hopefully the enemy's
firecracker ant was travelling with the cockroaches and died in the bombings.
If not, use a single bee to attack him, followed by any units you can spare.
Triple jump
You have: 7 ants, 3 grasshoppers, 1 praying mantis
They have: Exactly the same as you
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 10 mins
I'm not quite sure if there's a foolproof way to winning this level,
all I do is pile up my units around my praying mantis and get them all to
attack any enemy units who get close. The two ants on the edge, however,
are usually killed quite quickly by speedy grasshoppers who manage to
attack them from behind before they can get to the main group. It is
important that the enemy's praying mantis is taken out quickly, don't
leave him till last when all your units are weak.
Spatula spat
You have: 1 bee, 2 ants, 1 cockroach, 1 pill bug.
They have: 1 cockroach, 2 ants, 1 spider, 1 praying mantis.
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 5 mins
This is the 'medium' level from the demo, but is slightly different in
the full version. I'm still not quite sure how I finished this level, but
I'll tell you anyway. Firstly, I got all my units to attack the
southernmost ant in the level. Then I got my bee to attack the enemy
cockroach, and the others to fight the spider. After that, I killed the
next enemy ant, then the praying mantis. Finally I ganged up on the
cockroach. If that didn't work, have your units get in a group with your
cockroach in front. Kill the units in any way you want, but make sure you get
that spider and mantis as early as possible.
Slawgging along
You have: 3 ants, 1 water bug.
They have: 1 bee, 1 ant
Win by: Getting the food is better, but you may end up killing instead
Time: 4 mins
Get your water bug to run to the salami slice using the most direct path,
remember to use the water for extra speed. Get your ants to walk around
the chips to the salami. Hopefully you'll get there fast enough to stop
the bee. Kill him and hope your units eat it before the ant arrives. If
not, they'll have to take him out. Remember, your ants should attack the
bee first, but your water bug should attack the ant first.
The bread line
You have: 2 grasshoppers, 1 mosquitoes, 1 lightning bug, 6 ants,
1 ant w/3 firecrackers
They have: 1 bee w/2 bombs, 1 pill bug, 1 spider, 1 praying mantis,
1 cockroach
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 3 mins
I found a bug in this level, where only one of your flying units will
attack the enemy bee while the other will just hover there. It doesn't
make too much of a difference though, as the bees bombing raid can be
used to your advantage. Firstly, get your flying units to attack the
enemy bee. Then get your grasshoppers to join your ants. Wait for the
spider and cockroach to approach from the right and throw two
firecrackers at them to weaken them. Next, get your firecracker ant
to throw his remaining firecrackers at the praying mantis, then tell
him to attack him. If your flying units died, the bee will bomb your
firecracker ant, but should critically damage the praying mantis
while doing this. If your flying units won the battle, get them to attack
the mantis. Now get your 3 ants and grasshopper on the right hand side
to attack the spider, then the cockroach. Wait for the pill bug to
approach from the left then get your other 3 ants and grasshopper to
attack him. Your remaining units should be strong enough to kill the
enemy cockroach and praying mantis, as long as you remember to make
them gang up.
Bug sandwich
You have: 2 grasshoppers, 3 ants, 2 bees
They have: 2 pill bugs, 2 ants, 1 spider, 1 grasshopper, 1 diving beetle
Win by: Getting food
Time: 5 mins
Although you can win by killing the enemy (that's how I finished this
level the first time) it's easier just to grab the food. To do this
you need to kill all the enemy units except for the diving beetle. It's
best to get your grasshoppers to gang up on the enemy grasshopper, and
your bees to kill the spider. Use any of your units to kill the enemy
ants and pill bugs. Now I hope you have a bee and an another unit
alive, it's a bit hard with just one unit. Now all you need to do is
get one unit to distract the diving beetle, while the other grabs
the food. This level isn't too hard, but you must be careful of the
time limit, and how you manoeuvre your troops...
A pizza the action
You have: 3 ants, 1 ant w/1 bomb, 1 spider, 1 cockroach, 1 grasshopper
They have: 1 bee, 1 pill bug, 1 flea, 1 praying mantis, 1 ant
1 ant w/1 bomb, 1 grasshopper
Win by: Stealing food
Time: 3 mins
Another distraction stage, but a little more thought is needed for
this one. Gather everyone except the bomb ant and the grasshopper in
the centre of the pizza. Get your bomb ant to go to the space inside
the water puddle, and have him throw a bomb when the praying mantis
is in range. Have your grasshopper go to the enemies pop tart and wait
there. Make sure your units at the pizza are all fighting an enemy
(preferably ganging up on the same one). By now the praying mantis
will be going back to the pop tart to reclaim it. Have your grasshopper
run away back to the pizza. Get your bomb ant to wait just above the
water puddle, he'll need to get to the pop tart soon. By now the battle
at the pizza should be nearing its conclusion, get your grasshopper
to help out. When the praying mantis is halfway back to the pizza, get
your bomb ant to go to the tart. On my game the mantis started
attacking my units, but then he decided to run back to the pop tart.
It was too late however, and I won the level. Remember this level has
quite a bit of luck involved, this tactic won't always work. (Your
bomb ant may get attacked in his little hiding place, but hopefully
he'll be fast enough to run around the enemy unit and escape harm).
Usually, if you can't manage to steal the food, you can overpower the
mantis.
Bugburger
You have: 2 grasshoppers, 1 pill bug w/1 bomb, 1 jumping spider
1 mosquito w/3 bombs, 1 flea
They have: 1 commander, 2 ants w/1 firecracker each, 1 cockroach
1 grasshopper, 1 rhino beetle (!)
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 3 mins
You will meet your first rhino beetle on this stage and you'll
find out just how hard they actually are. You start
out with a disadvantage in power, get used to it, 'cause from
now on all your fights will be like this. But enough of my
whining, it's time to find out how to beat them!
DON'T let the mosquito fly, if he even tries to take off
the enemy ants will nail him with their skyrockets. Let your
pill bug get in throwing range, and get your mosquito to walk to the
open sachet. Get one of your grasshoppers and your flea to
attack the firecracker ants. Make your flea arrive just before
the grasshopper, so he attracts all the attention (this is because
he will lose to the ant anyway, the grasshopper should win in
the fight with the other ant). While the enemy is preoccupied, let
your mosquito and pill bug bomb the mass of enemies, concentrating
on the commander and rhino beetle. Get any surviving units to
retreat to a safe distance, then get them all into a group.
Have them attack the remaining units, preferably the rhino
beetle and cockroach first (they should have survived the
bombs) then any other units. If the commander survived, go for him
first as he is your main target.
Head-on
You have: 1 praying mantis, 2 pill bugs w/2 bombs each, 1 cockroach
4 grasshoppers, 3 ants.
They have: 3 praying mantis's (!), 1 rhino beetle, 1 wasp, 3 ants,
1 ant w/2 rocks, 1 ant w/1 cheese & 2 bombs, 2 diving beetles.
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 10 mins
You have a severe disadvantage in power and a slight disadvantage in
numbers, but as I said before, this is commonplace from now on.
Get all your units excluding the grasshoppers on top of your mint
packet. Make the pill bugs go to the very top (north) of your packet,
ready to throw bombs at approaching enemies. Get the grasshoppers in
a little group to the right of the packet. As the ants with the weapons
approach, split your grasshoppers into two groups of two, and have
them attack each ant. After this have them delay the rest of the enemy.
When the enemy gets too close, have your pill bugs bomb them (the wasp
will usually fly to avoid the bomb blast so don't bomb the wasp). After
your bomb supply is exhausted have the pill bugs join the rest of your
units who should be at the part of the packet that has been opened.
Your large army should shred through the approaching enemies, as they
generally arrive in groups of one first. After you have slaughtered
the enemy army, send your remaining units to capture the buns to the
north. On the way you'll probably need to make a detour, as the ant
with the cheese often drops it in the chokepoint between the oil to the
north. When you get to the guarding praying mantis, have your unit
with the most health attack first.
Ant eat 'em
You have: 3 ants, 2 ants w/1 skyrocket each, 3 cockroaches, 2 bees
w/1 bomb each, 1 praying mantis, 3 grasshoppers
They have: 2 wasps w/1 bomb each, 2 pill bugs w/1 skyrocket each,
3 jumping spiders, 2 spiders, 3 cockroaches, 2 pill bugs
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 10 mins
Don't throw your skyrockets at the enemy wasps until they are in
attacking range, that is, when they can be attacked by your units.
This can be tricky, try gathering your units in a group around your
watermelon or sandwich, save your game and if you get bombed, re-load.
If you get a message about there being something in the way when you
get your ants to throw their rockets, move them around until they can
throw.
After killing the wasp or wasps (usually you will only get one with
your trick), gather your units into 2 groups of 7, one to guard the
watermelon, the other for the sandwich. If you lose the fight, reload
then try different combinations. Also be wary of a cockroach or that
other wasp who may try to sneak past your units and grab the salami
on the other side of the 'dung chow river.'
Who's guarding the food?
You have: 1 flea, 1 ant w/4 bombs, 2 poisons & 4 rocks
They have: 1 praying mantis, 1 grasshopper, 1 stink bug, 1 pill bug,
1 water bug
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 5 mins
Get your ant to walk all the way to the right, until a cord blocks
further movement. Have the flea jump onto the lower row of dominoes
(the one without the stamp), then have him walk to the bun. Your ant
should unload his bomb supply when the praying mantis and grasshopper
are close together. While he is doing this, have the flea _walk_ to the
end of the domino pathway. If the grasshopper and mantis survive the
bombs, then throw one rock at each of them. Have the flea jump over to
the water bug and attack him. Get the ant to make his way to the flea,
using the domino 'bridge.' Make your flea run around the bun to avoid
getting in a fight with the pill and stink bugs. When the ant arrives,
have him hurl his rocks at the pill bug, and throw the poison at the
stink bug. Then get the ant and flea to gang up on the pill bug first,
then the stink bug.
Counter attack
You have: 1 ant, 1 ant w/1 skyrocket & 1 cheese, 2 fleas, 2 mosquitoes
2 grasshoppers, 1 pill bug w/2 rocks
They have: 2 grasshoppers, 1 spider, 1 cockroach, 2 jumping spiders,
1 bee
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 6 mins
Have your ant throw his cheese as far to the left as he can to slow
down the enemy. Have your ant throw a skyrocket at the bee, you need to
weaken the enemy as much as possible in this level. Straight after this,
get one of your mosquitoes and your other ant to attack the bee. Your
units should just try and gang up on every enemy unit that attacks you.
If you are getting desperate, have your pill bug throw rocks at the
enemies you find most annoying. Make sure he throws one at the spider
though, he's the unit who can win them the battle.
(thanks to Losung's great Battle bugs FAQ, for half of this level
walkthrough. If I could write in German and could find his e-mail address
I would thank him)
Hold the fries
You have: 2 assassin bugs, 2 moths, 3 pill bugs, 1 pill bug w/2 bombs,
1 ant w/2 bombs, 2 ants, 1 commander
They have: 3 praying mantis's, 2 grasshoppers, 2 commanders (!),
2 lightning bugs, 2 jumping spiders
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 30 mins
See how you have two assassin bugs, and they have two commanders?
You need to get your assassin bugs to assassinate the commanders.
It sounds simple, but your assassin bugs aren't strong enough to kill
the commanders, only severely wound them. Have your assassin bugs attack
the commanders, and have the rest of your units (excluding the moths and
units with bombs) surround your commander to protect him.
Get your units with the bombs to jump into the moths, then fly them over
to the commanders. When they arrive, have them throw their bombs.
This combined with the assassin bugs attacks should be enough to kill
them. Have your bomb units chase after the rest of the enemy army,
throwing a bomb at them if they get in range, but are not yet attacking
your units. If your commander dies, you may have to do some suicide
attacks with the bombs, but hopefully it won't come to that stage.
Note: It actually did come to that stage with my game and I managed to
survive it too, due to my suicide bombing.
A just & honorable pizza
You have: 1 grasshopper, 1 commander, 4 ants, 2 assassin bugs, 2 water
boatmen
They have: 1 wasp, 1 commander, 1 praying mantis, 4 ants, 1 grasshopper
Win by: Getting food
Time: 5 mins
Send your grasshopper over to the pizza and load your boatmen up with
one ant and one assassin bug (assassin bug isn't always necessary). The
other units should go to the pizza, except for the commander who should
wait halfway, so the units are just inside his command range. Have the
assassin bug attack the wasp when he arrives.
Make your boatmen cross the river to the pizza and unload on the other
side. Let one boatman guard the pizza, the other one should cross the
river to the other side, ready to pick up the commander should your units
die. Let your second assassin bug attack the commander when he crosses the
river. If the enemy commander goes to help the enemy units at the apple,
have the assassin bug hop on the boatmen and cross back over. If your
units can't keep the enemy from overtaking the apple, evacuate your
commander to the pizza. As soon as the boatman has crossed, have him
drop the commander (he can walk the rest of the way) then go to the
apple which should be undefended. Your pizza units should easily take
out the enemy ants which will arrive, but remember to get your grasshopper
or ant to distract the enemy mantis. This tactic works about 60% of the
time, if you can't seem to do it try saving when you're doing well and
loading if you are screwing up.
Wak-a-bug
You have: 2 moths, 1 rhino beetle (!), 3 assassin bugs, 5 water bugs.
They have: 1 praying mantis, 1 spider, 1 cockroach, 1 diving beetle,
1 bee.
Win by: Defeating enemy
Time: 5 mins
Get your units to walk to the fries, having your water bugs use the
liquid to get there faster. Have two of the water bugs jump in the moths,
then have one fly to the burger bun, the other to the fries. Don't let
the one at the bun unload however, just have him wait there until your
other units have arrived at the fries. When they have, or your moth is
almost under attack, have him move over to the fries. Try to keep the fries
in your possession, while you kill off the enemy units. It is vital that
you use your assassin bugs on the spider and the praying mantis, these guys
can finish you off quickly. Eventually you will win this level, as long as
you remember to put your best defender in front, and to kill the spider
while he is dizzy from the assassins attack.
Water bugged
You have: 1 ant w/4 bombs. 1 ant w/1 firecracker, 1 rock, 1 cheese &
1 bomb, 4 ants, 3 bees, 1 commander, 1 cockroach, 3 diving beetles,
2 water boatmen
They have: 5 diving beetles, 2 rhino beetles (!), 2 praying mantis's,
8 water bugs
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 15 mins
Surprisingly enough, this level really isn't all that hard, I managed to
finish this level on my first turn. Get your units from the right hand
side to come over to the left, having the bomb ant and cockroach come
first, then the other ants. Obviously, the bee and diving beetles can
get there by themselves. Organise your forces on the left hand side so
the ants and diving beetle are at the front, the bees are in the middle
and the commander is in the back, make sure his command radius is covering
all your units. Remember to weaken the enemy by having your ants throw
their weapons, especially have the ant with the cheese to throw it north
as far as he can. I had 12 units left after this battle, so if this tactic
doesn't work you should be able to win anyway.
Say your prayers
You have: 2 rhino beetles, 1 flea, 2 ants w/1 cheese each
They have: 5 praying mantis's
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 30 mins
Good use of the cheese fighting tactic will see you win this level.
Have the ant at the bottom throw a cheese to slow down the mantis
that comes from the south, while you have the other ant throw a cheese
at the northern corner of the packet. Now get your units to wait at
the edge of the 'dizziness' radius and they should be able to easily attack
the praying mantis's. Be careful of the mantis from the south, you'll need
a rhino beetle to kill him (you may want an ant to help).
Waiting for rhino
You have: 4 ants w/6 rocks, 1 rhino beetle
They have: 18 ants(!)
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 30 mins
You really need to hold your ground as long as possible. Get your rhino
to walk to the Shards from the very start. Have your ants throw rocks
at the enemy ants that are approaching from the South-east and North-east.
It takes two rocks to kill an ant remember. After using up your rocks you
have two choices, either huddle your ants into a corner and have them
gang up on any enemy ants that attack, or have them run around the edge of
the Shards so the enemies flag doesn't rise. I prefer the running tactic,
just get one ant to run away while the enemy is preoccupied with the others.
Have him do some laps around the shards until the rhino arrives. When the
rhino does arrive, you should be able to finish this level easily.
Get me to the olive on time
You have: 1 ant w/1 firecracker, 1 bomb & 1 rock, 1 diving beetle,
1 water bug, 1 jumping spider, 2 water boatmen
They have: 2 ants, 2 grasshoppers, 2 fleas, 1 praying mantis
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 4 mins
Get all your units to go to the bread, having the water bug use the water for
extra speed and the ant hitching a ride on one of the boatmen.
As your jumping spider arrives, have him run around the bread and stop at the
northern end, where he should try to fight some grasshoppers and fleas (he
won't win, but you need the extra time). Your other units should fight the
ants and praying mantis as they arrive (kill at least one ant before going
after the mantis). Have your weapon ant throw a rock at the mantis, then have
him unload the rest of his weaponry into the grasshoppers and fleas who should
have just finished off your jumping spider. After that have your ant help your
units in their battle. You should be able to mop up the remaining enemy units.
(I can't believe how stupid I was to try and defend the olive. If you try,
you'll find that you will have trouble getting your units close enough to
prevent the enemies flag from rising)
Wreck room
You have: 2 medic ants, 2 cockroaches, 3 praying mantis's, 3 moths,
2 ants, 1 ant w/2 firecrackers & 2 rocks
They have: 3 wasps, 2 rhino beetles, 3 spiders, 2 moths, 2 pill
bug w/1 bomb each
Win by: Getting food
Time: 5 mins
Gather your units in a T shape next to the doughnut, praying mantis's and
cockroaches in front, ants in the middle and medic's in the back. Have the
moths wait back even further, but have one drop off the weapon ant on the
doughnut (before getting the moth the hell out!) If you wish, one moth
can help out in the battle, but beware he'll probably die. During the battle,
you'll probably want your medics to heal your mantis's and cockroaches. Don't
bother with the ants or moths, they die too quickly. Hopefully, those pill
bugs wasted their bombs on your weapon ant (who also should have done some
damage with his weapons). The problem I find is that the enemy approaches
differently every time. If the battle is going badly, have your moths join
in, but make sure at least one survives.
After the main battle at the doughnut, have your units heal. Now the reason I
got you to keep those moths was because of this levels kinda strict time
limit.
Load your moths with your best and healthiest units and have them fly to the
enemy's food supply (the faeces pieces :). Remember to have one medic stay
behind to keep the food in your control.
This level is really difficult, even more so due to the randomness of the
enemy AI. Don't expect to finish it straight away. In fact, even with the
above
solution, it took me 3 turns to get it to work.
Cheese It
You have: 1 mosquito, 1 cockroach, 1 ant w/2 bombs, 1 spider, 1 praying mantis
They have: 2 praying mantis's, 1 rhino beetle, 1 flea, 1 pill bug
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 6 mins
Rush all your units to the top of the cheese. While your units gang up on the
flea, your ant should wait for the other enemy units to combine then unload
his bomb supply. Have your units gang up on the enemy (I usually start by
killing the rhino). Try to keep your spider alive as long as possible, you'll
need his multiple attack for a while. If you keep dying, try putting your
cockroach in front as he has the highest defence rating.
Rock-a-bye bugs
You have: 1 water boatman, 1 commander, 1 cockroach, 1 ant w/4 rocks &
2 skyrockets, 1 ant w/1 rock
They have: 1 commander, 1 rhino beetle, 1 wasp, 1 ant, 1 spider
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 30 mins
Have your boatman walk over the water, but make sure your cockroach hops in.
While he is taken over the water, have your skyrocket ant shoot one rocket
into the
wasp, followed by the second one just after the wasp has been hit from the
first
rocket. As soon as the boatman reaches the other side, unload the cockroach
and
have him run to the cake. Have your boatman go back and get the commander and
drop him on the other side. Your boatman should pick up the other units then
go
and join everyone else at the cake.
When your roach reaches the cake, have him either run around, distracting the
enemy
until the other units arrive or attack the commander (I usually
wait for my commander to arrive then I attack their commander.) Have your ants
throw their rocks at whatever enemy units seem to be posing the biggest
problem.
I usually find I throw them at the wasp and rhino beetle, but don't forget to
throw
one at that pesky spider.
I know this level is incredibly hard, it took me many tries to get past it.
All I
can say is just keep trying. Then again you could cheat.....
The long march
You have: 3 cockroaches, 1 medic, 2 robber flies, 3 ants, 1 stink bug, 1 ant
w/2 bombs & 2 cheese
They have: 2 rhino beetles, 3 praying mantis's, 3 spiders, 1 lightning bug,
1 pill bug w/5 bombs, 2 pill bugs w/2 bombs each
Win by: Getting food
Time: 15 mins
Now this level is hard to describe, but basically you just have to get your
units to run all the way to the right and overtake the
chips. Have your units run along the bottom of the level, but have your ant
with the cheese throw it as far to the left as he can to slow down the rhino
beetles. As you're on your way to the chips, have
your stink bug break wind to slow down the enemy (make sure he is in the back
of your army before doing this though). Also, have your flies steal bombs from
the pill bugs, and use them on the mantis's and spiders to slow the enemy down
even more, allowing your units to pass by them.
If the enemy keeps gaining on you, have your expendable units fight the
enemies while your other units continue on their way. Usually my ants make it
to the end, and travelling single file across the thinnest part of the poison
river, overpower the pill bug. The reason for the single file is so the pill
bug doesn't throw bombs at you.
Air farce
You have: 3 bees w/1 bomb each, 4 ants w/1 skyrocket each, 4 mosquitoes, 2
wasps, 2 lightning bugs, 1 robber fly
They have: 4 wasps w/1 bomb each, 4 mosquitoes, 3 ants, 3 bees, 2 lightning
bugs
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 10 mins
Have your ants move into a better position so they can prepare their
skyrockets. Now have your ants throw their rockets at the enemy when they get
in groups (you can kill all the mosquitoes with 2 skyrockets if you are lucky
enough!). Your fly should steal as many bombs as possible before he dies (drop
them on the enemy ants then go back for more), but don't worry if you only
steal one or two. Now have your units gang up on any enemies when they get
close enough, but if one of the bomb wasps approaches wait for them to drop
the bomb, then have your flying units lift off to avoid damage. If you can
dodge just one or two bombs and can get all your skyrockets to hit three or
more enemy units, you should be fine.
A quick snack
You have: 1 spider, 1 pill bug, 1 cockroach, 1 ant
They have: 1 cockroach, 1 rhino beetle, 1 praying mantis
Win by: Killing the enemy
Time: 2 mins
Ohhh this level is evil. I can remember the first time I played this level,
and it took me a while to find the foolproof way to beat it.
Have your cockroach and spider attack the rhino beetle, making sure your
cockroach arrives first. Have your ant and pill bug attack the cockroach,
making the pill bug attack first. After the rhino is dead, have your roach and
spider attack the mantis, by the time they are halfway there, your ant should
have defeated the roach. Now have all your remaining units rush the mantis,
but make sure either the ant or spider attack first shortly followed by the
others. I had about 6 seconds left when I finished but that included the
mantis keeling over. Make one mistake in this stage and you will fail.
Meat the enemy
You have: 2 fleas, 2 moths, 1 pill bug w/5 bombs, 1 water boatmen, 2 ants w/2
rocks each
They have: 2 cockroaches, 2 spiders, 3 ants, 1 water bug, 2 pill bugs
Win by: Killing enemy units
Time: 5 mins
Damn! These levels are really getting hard now. Get all your units to go guard
the slice, but have your boatman kill the water bug. Now there is a trick in
this part of the level. You should have an ant and a pill bug approaching,
quickly throw a rock at the pill bug then have your pill bug throw 2 bombs at
the units to kill them. Finish off the next spider with rocks and then repeat
the rock & 2 bomb trick on the next pill bug. Hopefully you now only have to
fight a spider and an ant. Using any remaining weapons on the spider, kill the
enemy units then head over to the steak. Hopefully you have some units left (I
had 7, but 4 is probably enough), then gang up on the cockroaches, having your
unit with the highest defence attack first. You should be able to finish this
if you have a pill bug, a boatman, a flea or two, and an ant all with at least
3/4 health.
Hamburger Helpless
You have: 5 ants w/1 firecracker each, 2 bees w/4 firecrackers each, 2 medic
ants, 4 cockroaches, 2 moths
They have: 3 ants w/1 firecracker each, 4 cockroaches, 3 grasshoppers, 2
spiders, 4 bees w/2 firecrackers each
Win by: Getting food
Time: 10 mins
The way I finished this level was not the way I think you were supposed to do
it. I got my units to walk to the burger, except for the medics who took a
ride in the moths and the bees who can fly. Have one bee wait by the burger,
while the other bee bombs any ground units approaching (I don't think it
really matters which as long as they are in a group). The other bee should
lift off when it is about to be bombed, then have him bomb the enemy bees when
they land. Your firecracker ants should unload their supply into any enemy
units they encounter on their way, then join in the main battle. Your moths
should also join, but make them drop the medics off early. This is an absolute
bloodbath, but you should end up surviving. When you claim the burger however,
two cockroaches probably went and obtained your onion rings. Have your medics
heal your units that are the most badly damaged, while you have one of your
fastest units (ant or bee) go and reclaim your rings when the cockroaches are
almost to your burger. I finished this level on my first turn, but I think it
was mostly luck as only one of my units survived.
Quoth the Rhino: Bite Me
You have: 9 fleas
They have: 2 rhino beetles, 1 praying mantis
Win by: Stealing food
Time: 2 mins
This is THE MOST $^#$%$&$%& ANNOYING LEVEL IN THE GAME. Figuring out what to
do isn't hard, but whenever you try to do something seems to go wrong by just
the tiniest bit, such as the rhino takes a step just before your flag has
fully risen, etc.
You have to control each unit individually (or at least in small groups) in
this level in order for your fleas to jump over the 'river.' Have all your
fleas attack the mantis, except the fleas closest to the rhino beetles who
should attack them instead. As your fleas are nearing death by the rhino, have
a flea break off from the mantis fight and delay the rhino further. Keep the
fleas delaying the rhino's, but leave at least one flea behind so you can get
the watermelon. You need to do all this quickly, or the rhino's will overpower
you. Especially keep your eye on the rhino beetle to the right, he is the most
annoying. If the above tactics fail, have the flea who is trapped by himself
to the very west of the level to attack the mantis as well, until the other
rhino beetle get a little too close.
Oil be back
You have: 5 ants w/2 bombs each, 2 stink bugs, 2 water boatmen, 1 robber fly,
1 moth
They have: 1 ant w/1 bomb, 1 spider, 3 cockroaches, 1 praying mantis, 3 diving
beetles
Win by: Killing the enemy
Time: 5 mins
This level is incredibly easy compared to the last stage. Have your units get
on top of the Shard packet but have your fly steal a bomb from the enemy ant.
Have a stink bug fart near the edge of the Shard packet if you want, it makes
the level easier, but isn't necessary. Have your fly drop its newly acquired
bomb on any enemy units that are close together, before heading back to help
the other units. Your bomb ants should also throw bombs at units that are
close together, especially the two diving beetles that will come from the
south (they can be killed easily with 2-3 bombs). Attack any units that
survive your bombs, but try to keep your moth and boatman alive. After this
main battle, transport your units over the oil, then have them attack the
cockroaches guarding the wafers.
Cold cut crisis
You have: 4 ants, 1 commander, 1 grasshopper, 1 cockroach
They have: 2 praying mantis's, 1 cockroach, 1 commander, 1 grasshopper, 4 ants
Win by: Getting food
Time: 2 mins
This level requires some luck of your troop positioning. Have your cockroach
head over to the salami on the right, but have him keep as far to the left as
possible. Have your other units head to the cheese but your commander should
try and get in a position so he can give al the units a bonus. Your units at
the cheese should gang up on the enemy commander then finish off the
grasshopper and the ants. When that is done, have your grasshopper help out
your cockroach and have one ant go and get the salami to the left as soon as
the cockroaches leave. Your commander can help fight if necessary, in fact
there many be times when you need him to.
Sink stink
You have: 2 ants, 1 ant w/2 bombs, 1 moth, 1 water boatman, 1 mosquito w/1
cheese, 2 diving beetles
They have: 3 water bugs, 1 grasshopper, 1 cockroach, 1 water boatman, 2 diving
beetles
Win by: Killing the enemy
Time: 10 mins
Have your mosquito drop his cheese on the enemy sponge to slow them down then
have all your units go the pop tart, having the ants use the transport units.
After getting everyone to the tart, have your mosquito and non-weapon ant kill
the grasshopper. Shortly after this, have your bomb ant to throw his bombs at
any approaching diving beetles. Now all you need to do is wait at your tart
and gang up on any enemy units that attack. After you have killed all the
enemy units except for 2 (usually the cockroach and boatman), have your units
rush them. Sometimes the enemy has put their cockroach inside their boatmen,
this is a bonus. If not, or if the cockroach is dumped just before the battle
don't worry, you should be able to finish them quickly.
Around or through
You have: 8 ants, 3 cockroaches, 3 spiders, 2 diving beetles, 1 bee
They have: 9 ants, 3 spiders, 2 cockroaches, 2 rhino beetles, 1 wasp
Win by: Killing the enemy
Time: 6 mins
Wow, look at all those units. Fortunately, those guys at Sierra have made your
job a little easier by splitting your units into groups. Have the group to the
left go get the mints, have the middle group stay and guard the Shards, and
have the group on the right obtain the buns. Your groups should all gang up on
any units they encounter, and remember to put the unit with the highest
defence or highest health in front. Hopefully your groups that get the mints
and buns will survive and will heal somewhat, but I'm guessing your group at
the Shards will die. Don't worry, just prepare your groups at the mints and
buns for an attack though. Hopefully you'll know enough about the units now
that you will know which to attack first and which to leave until last. Good
luck!
I think I'm gonna hurl
You have: 2 grasshoppers, 1 moth, 1 ant w/4 bombs, 1 ant w/2 cheeses
They have: 5 ants, 2 spiders, 1 praying mantis, 1 rhino beetle.
Win by: Stealing food
Time: 1 minute (!)
Much more brain stimulating then Basement race, and much harder. It took me a
while to figure out how to do it properly. Firstly, have your cheese ant walk
as far to the right as possible, have your grasshoppers attack the spider by
the doughnut and load up your moth with the bomb ant. Your moth should land on
the card pack, and your cheese ant should throw one cheese as far south as he
can as long as it is in the rhino's path. Your bomb ant should throw two bombs
at the ants and two at the praying mantis. Your cheese ant should throw his
last cheese just north of his other cheese while your moth and ant attack the
mantis. Hopefully you can delay the enemy long enough to grab the extra
doughnut and win the level.
Lunch meating
You have: 2 moths, 2 praying mantis's, 2 cockroaches, 2 rhino beetles
They have: 3 cockroaches, 2 praying mantis's, 1 spider, 1 pill bug, 2 rhino
beetles
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 6 mins
Unfortunately you can't set up a cockroach ambush over the poison, God knows
I've tried. What you need to do is to defeat the enemy while they are crossing
the bridge. Have the mantis's get on the moths, while the others should just
walk (the cockroaches should just go across the poison river and the rhino's
should walk around). On the bridge, your units should easily overpower the
enemy units.
Grab those buns
You have: 2 medic ants, 2 wasps, 3 jumping spiders, 2 praying mantis's, 3 pill
bugs
They have: 3 cockroaches, 3 grasshoppers, 4 rhino beetles (!), 2 praying
mantis's
Win by: Killing the enemies
Time: 20 mins
I used the gang up strategy again on this level and it worked fine. Put your
pill bugs first, then arrange the other units in any way you want but make
sure the medics are in the back. Gang up on any units that arrive and remember
to heal your units when their health is getting low. If your units on the
right hand side die (and I'm sure they will) have the medic come over to your
other units to give you even more chance of winning. Again luck can figure if
you win or not, but I won on my first turn so it seems to be more in your
favour.
Too many wasps
You have: 3 ants, 1 ant w/2 bombs, 1 bee w/2 bombs, 1 rhino beetle
They have: 4 wasps, 7 ants
Win by: Stealing food
Time: 4 mins
Have your bee do a bombing raid on the enemy's ants while the rest of your
units huddle together. After the bee has done its raid, wait for the enemy
units to get close enough to your other units before going and stealing their
food. Start with whatever is closest then move to the other food. Really easy
unless your bee goes for the food too quickly.
Bridge Brouhaha
You have: 1 bee, 4 mosquitoes, 2 praying mantis's, 1 ant w/2 cheeses, 6 ants
They have: 6 ants, 4 cockroaches, 2 rhino beetles, 1 bee, 1 wasp
Win by: Stealing food
Time: 4 ants
Have your mosquitoes fly over to your bee to help protect your cake. Your
cheese ant should throw his cheese at both leaf bridges so only one bridge is
left crossable. After killing the enemy bee and wasp make your units rush
across the bridge and kill the cockroaches and ants. After slaughtering the
enemy, move onto the cheese killing anyone who gets in your way. If time is
getting short, have your units at the cake join in.
Beat to the punch
You have: 1 flea, 1 grasshopper, 1 jumping spider, 1 moth, 1 cockroach, 1
lightning bug
They have: 1 diving beetle, 1 rhino beetle, 1 praying mantis, 1 spider
Win by: Kill those b@$^@%*$
Time: 3 mins
This level is easily completed. Have everyone move to the cake, but have the
cockroach have a ride in the moth. Kill the mantis when he approaches you,
then quickly finish off the spider that follows him. Have your units attack
the rhino beetle at the cheese, the cockroach travelling in the moth as
before. After finishing off the rhino, travel to the diving beetle and then
just laugh as you kill him in no time at all. Please note that the cockroach
should attack first in all the fights except the spider and diving beetle
fight. Use the flea for the diving beetle fight as his defence is high enough
to allow him to survive as long as all your units join in quickly.
Poison Pensive
You have: 4 fleas, 2 cockroaches, 1 praying mantis, 1 ant w/1 skyrocket, 2
wasps w/2 bombs each, 1 moth
They have: 2 rhino beetles, 2 praying mantis's, 2 wasps w/1 bomb each, 1 bee
w/3 cheeses, 1 bee w/2 bombs, 7 ants, 1 ant w/4 bombs
Win by: Killing the enemy
Time: 5 mins
*Sigh* again I had to see Losung's FAQ for some help on how to get those bees,
I can't believe I was having so much trouble with such an easy problem. At the
start have your cockroaches gather together on the poison, and have your wasps
attack the bees individually. When the wasps are getting close to your
cockroaches, throw your skyrocket at them and have your cockroaches finish
them off. Then have your moth drop your mantis off near the rhino and have all
your units attack (get your fleas to jump over the river, and have the ant get
picked up by the moth). After finishing off the rhino get your units over to
the next food supply, killing all the units that get in your way. Keep doing
this until the ant on the Shard packet is the only enemy left. To kill this
enemy simply get a moth to drop the units from the air, or have a wasp attack.
Picnic Pestered
You have: 1 mosquito w/2 firecrackers & 2 poisons
They have: 6 fleas
Win by: Killing enemy
Time: 5 mins
There are two ways to finish this level, depending on how the enemy is
working.
i. If the fleas seem intent on killing you= Wait for them to approach the
olive where you should be waiting. Fly over to the nearest butterfly biscuit
and wait until the enemy gets too close for comfort. Now fly to the nearest
butterfly biscuit to the north. Land there and you should see the fleas
gathering in a clump. Drop your firecrackers on them and wait. When the
surviving flea comes for you, drop the poison on him and finish him off. Very
rarely they may figure out what you're doing and spread out.
ii. If the enemy wants the food= Not too sure about this as they only do it
50% until you have finished the level. After this they only use this tactic
10% of the time (at least on my game). It may be better to wait for them to
try and come after you.
Let's Eat!
You have: 1 ant w/4 poisons, 1 ant w/2 skyrockets, 1 cockroach, 1 mosquito
They have: 6 lightning bugs
Win by: Killing the enemy
Time: 7 mins
Have your mosquito and cockroach gather together at the doughnut, and prepare
your skyrocket ant to throw them. When you see three lightning bugs getting in
a tight group, throw both the rockets. If they hit all three bugs continue
with the level, if not restart. Have the skyrocket ant gather with his friends
but keep the poison ant from the group. As the lightning bugs attack your
units, wait for them all to join in and check if your cockroach has 3/4 or
less health. If so, throw all your poisons into the battle and have your ant
help your cockroach.
One small step for a Mantis
You have: 1 water bug, 1 stink bug, 1 moth, 1 mosquito w/1 cheese, 2 ants, 1
lightning bugs
They have: 5 praying mantis's
Win by: Gathering food
Time: 3 mins
This level is really difficult as there is so much stuff that can go wrong. I
will split this level solution up into 2 sections.
The set-up and beginning
Have your mosquito drop his cheese in front of the southernmost mantis,
adjusting the drop point as he walks, and dropping slightly to the left to get
that other mantis. He should then fly to the nearest cheese ball. Your water
bug and lightning bug should be instructed to attack the lowest praying
mantis, with a bit of luck you may be able to 'cheese fight' and kill the
mantis easily (actually this is essential to win). The ants should walk to the
nearest cheese balls. The stink bug should block the nearest chip to the right
by farting on the dip right in front of the chip. Finally the moth should grab
the chip nearest to him.
The fight
On the way to the mantis fight, the water bug should grab the chip. After the
moth has grabbed the chip he should delay the mantis that is heading for the
cheese balls (have an ant help him out after they have claimed the cheese
balls). The stink bug should fart when the mantis is close then attack him.
Remember to have your mosquitoes and ants grab food while this is happening.
If the chip that the water bug got was taken don't worry, he should be able to
get it back. If you can't finish this level keep trying, or have more units
distract the enemy and maybe have just one ant grab the food.
Hopefully everything went well and you (just) made it. Please remember that
this level is incredibly difficult and it takes a lot of luck to win.
Cat boxed in
Win by: 3 ants w/1 rock each, 3 ants w/1 bomb & 1 rock each, 2 robber flies, 2
jumping spiders, 1 stink bug
They have: 2 rhino beetles, 2 jumping spiders, 1 lightning bug, 2 pill bugs
w/2 bombs & 1 skyrocket each, 2 cockroaches
Win by: Killing the enemy
Time: 30 mins
This level is really hectic, with lots of stuff going on at the same time.
Have your stink bug walk onto the ramp and fart so the enemy will slow down.
You will need to kill those enemy jumping spiders quickly before they can
ambush you. To kill them easily, throw a bomb at them then chuck two rocks to
finish them off. It will take a bit of practise to get them but keep trying;
the level is much easier without them. If you can't seem to get the timing
right, try throwing the bomb at the northern spider just as he arrives at the
gravel on the northern side, and the southern spider when he is just about to
jump over the gravel. Remember to do it where they land after going to that
position. The other problem is the pill bugs and their bombs. To fix this
problem, have a robber fly hide behind the northern corner of the box and also
move your units so that the skyrocket doesn't hit them. Now you can steal
bombs and drop them on troublesome units (such as the rhino beetles) but
remember to do it when they are in groups, another reason for the stink bug's
blockade. Cheese fighting (fart fighting in this case) will see you win here.
You will find it will take you a while to find a way to get the pill bugs
bombs without dying, but it really is vital to surviving this level so keep
trying. If you must, have each fly steal one bomb from each pill bug, they
usually waste one trying to hit you.
Can't Ketchup
You have: 4 water bugs, 1 moth, 1 ant, 1 ant w/2 rocks, 1 ant w/3 bombs
They have: 2 rhino beetles, 1 spider
Win by: Killing the enemy units
Time: 7 mins
Such a simple level for this stage in the game. Have your rock ant load up in
the moth and fly to any of those raised pillars (I think they are made up of
those plastic cup lids). Get your water bugs and remaining ant to form a
barricade between the two oil patches. Your bomb ant should throw his bombs at
the rhino beetles and spider when they are together. Hopefully you will kill
the spider and do quite a bit of damage to the rhinos too. Have your bomb ant
retreat to the barricade and have your rock ant throw one rock at each rhino
beetle. Have all your units travel to the barricade and gang up on the rhino
beetles as they arrive. Done.
Busy bees
You have: 1 wasp, 2 water boatmen, 3 mosquitoes, 1 cockroach, 1 pill bug w/4
firecrackers & 2 poisons, 1 ant w/3 bombs & 2 rocks, 1 ant w/3 bombs & 2
cheeses
They have: 3 spiders, 2 diving beetles, 2 bees w/3 bombs each, 2 bees w/2
bombs each
Win by: Killing the enemy
Time: 5 mins
Yes it IS possible to stop your ants from dying, although it is very
difficult. Get your wasp to attack the enemy bee with 3 bombs and your 3
mosquitoes to gang up on the other bee with 3 bombs. Now get your ants in your
boatmen and have them step in the honey. The enemy's poor AI will think the
ants have died and won't bomb them. Now as they leave to attack your flying
units unload your boatmen. When the diving beetles close in, have your pill
bug weaken them as much as possible with his weapons (don't waste the ant's
weapons). After this have all your units gather together at the corn and kill
all the enemy units. Hopefully your cockroach won't get bombed, killing the 3
bomb bees usually puts a stop to that. When the spiders start approaching,
have the ants unload their bomb supplies into them before trekking to the
sandwich (if one ant died before don't worry, you should be strong enough to
kill two spiders by yourself). At the sandwich, use all your remaining weapons
then go hand-to-hand to finish the spider.
Dessert storm
You have: 2 praying mantis's, 2 rhino beetles, 4 grasshoppers, 1 ant w/6
skyrockets, 1 ant w/3 bombs, 1 ant w/3 rocks, 1 lightning bug, 2 lightning
bugs w/3 bombs each
They have: 7 praying mantis's, 6 rhino beetles, 4 jumping spiders, 6 wasps, 4
cockroaches (this may be inaccurate, but there are 27 units)
Win by: Stealing the food
Time: 20 mins
First I will congratulate you for getting this far, if you've finished all the
previous levels like me you really have done well. For a final level this
really isn't all that hard, but is a big bloodbath.
Have your units get together in a group and travel north and around to the
cake. On the way you'll have to kill lots and lots of enemies. Use weapons on
the tougher mantis's and rhino beetles, but save some bombs for the battle at
the cake. You can use them all up if you want but it's easier to save them. It
is important that you travel in a group as ganging up on enemies is the only
way you will win. After travelling northeast then going south to the cake, all
you have to do is kill the units guarding the cake and claim it for yourself.
Congrats! You've finished the game! Unless you haven't finished all the levels
that is....
Medals
During the game you receive medals after finishing certain levels (usually the
more difficult ones). I think you get them every three levels after you have
gotten the first medal for finishing the boot camp levels. These medals should
be listed in the order you get them.
I have collected 18 medals during my campaign.
Medal #1
It has white and blue stripes and resembles a grey ladybug on a star.
Obtain after Boot camp 5: Gang of two
Medal #2
It looks like a biscuit (a cookie for all you Americans) with a bite taken out
of it.
Obtain after Basement Race

Cheats
I've only been able to find one cheat (at www.happypuppy.com, and many other
sites) and here it is:
To skip the current level
-Fail it
-Inspect it
-Go to channel 3
-Save game
-Quit
The general should now be holding an onward sign.
I don't know if this gives you credit for the level but you should be trying
to finish the levels yourself anyway.
Final say
Well that's all for my Battle bugs walkthrough. Hopefully they will release
Battle bugs 2, but it seems unlikely. This may not be the final version of my
walkthrough, it will take me a while to fix up the typos.
