Here are a few of the things you can do if you run into trouble in Magic &
Mayhem:
-------------
Level Editing
-------------
In the "Realms" directory of Magic & Mayhem you'll find another three
directories called "Celtic", Greek" & "Medieval". In these directories are
all the game event files for each mission in the the game. All you have to
do is choose the file for the apropriate game level and edit it with any
text editor. These files are structured in events. Each event has a number
& this is why you can't change their order. Events can also contain one or
more of these parameters: EventType - can be DIALOGUE, TRAP, DIPLOMACY,
DEPLOYMENT, EXPERIENCE or COMMAND and sets the type of action that is
performed when the trigger of the event is activated.
Valid - can be True or False. You can use this parameter to disable events
like traps or deployment of enemy troops.
DeployedArmy - is the name of the character that owns the selected creature.
Your character's name is Cornelius. You might consider changing this
parameter to Cornelius so that all new deployed units will be yours. Be
careful not to change this parameter for the enemy wizard or the game will
crash.
ViewArmy - this parameter is used in DIPLOMACY events to set which army you
can view. You might try to add an event of this type to see what your enemy
sees.
Of course once you edit one of these files you can do whatever you want and
make the level as easy as you want. You might also try to insert a new
event that will replenish your life and mana each time you cast a spell
(i'm not sure how you can do this yet).
There are other files you can edit that you'll find useful. These are
located in the "CFG" directory of the game. You can't do much with the
files that are in this directory but you'll notice that there is another
directory called "ENCRYPTED" here and where you'll find more configuration
files. Unfortunately these files are encoded. To decode them you can do one
of the folowing: 1. Press Alt+Tab during the game to minimize it then start
Windows Explorer and copy the files in the "CFG" directory to a safe
location. After you make the necessary changes place them back in the "CFG"
directory and start the game. (not tested - if it doesn't work try the
second posibility) 2. Edit one of the level files so it will make the game
crash (see above). Start the game on that level. After it crashes and
closes go to Windows Explorer and copy the files to a safe location and do
the same as for the first method.
It is a good idea to move the "ENCRYPTED" directory to another location so
that the edited configuration files are not overwritten when the game
starts.
One of the best things you can achieve this way is seeing the full Grimoire.
You can do this by editing "Chaos.cfg" and setting SeeFullGrimoire to True.
You can also change your eyesight so that you'll be able to see all units
on the maps from any place.
