This is a walkthrough for the Windows game called Ace Harding:
Lost in Las Vegas. This game is actually Deja Vu 2, so if you
want to get this game you should probably look for that instead
of Ace Harding. You'll have a hard time finding this game because
it's lost from the world (it still survives as Deja Vu 2 on other
systems). So why did I make a FAQ for a lost game? Don't be silly.
I'm the lost gamer. You can e-mail me at the adress above
(ilovecartoonssomuch@yahoo.com), but make the subject "Ace
Harding Walkthrough" or else I'll delete it (I get a lot of
spam). This is a good system in theory, but nobody's ever
e-mailed me about my FAQ's. The curse of being lost in the
world of games...sigh...
The plot is very similar to Deja Vu...you can't find one.
Well, actually there is a complicated plot involved, but you
wake up with no memory and can't remember anything. Here's
the plot anyway:
You are Ace Harding, the infamous ex-boxer and detective.
Your most famous case is the Deja Vu case, where you were
drugged so you forgot everything and woke up to find yourself
framed for the murder of your ex-manager Siegel. Using your
best skills, you managed to regain your memory and prove
your innocence. But all is not as good as it seems...
Siegel apparently had a few "buddies" in the mafia (no
wonder he was killed). It appears he owed them a large sum
of money and was going to give it to them, but was killed.
Now the money's missing, and the mafia's mad. It's up to
you to get the money for the mafia...or they'll kill you.
You have a week to get the money. To make sure you don't do
anything the mafia doesn't want you to, they sent a goon to
watch over you. Better find the money fast!
These ICOM games have strange set ups for the NES. You use
the arrows to do actions to objects on the screen. The
actions you can do are:
Examine Examine something
Open Open something
Close Close something
Use Use something on something
Go Go through an exit
Hit Hit something (preferably someone)
Self Dealing with yourself (Use something on self)
You wake up with a throbbing headache. You are in a bath-
room and for some reason, undressed. Quickly grab your
pants and trenchcoat, and put them on. Open your trenchcoat
and pants, and find a way to sort the items that you find is
good. Open the door and leave.
Hey, it's the goon who was sent to watch you. He warns you
not to get any smart ideas. When he leaves, grab his cigar
ring (he should really stop smoking) and the train schedule.
If you didn't put on your clothes, he makes a comment about
your purple underwear. He'll show up at random points in
the game to tell you about how your time is running up.
You're in the hallway. Open the doors to the casino and
enter. Go left to see the chick who's the cashier. Give
her your ten bucks (from the wallet) and you get two five
dollar chips. Then roam around the casino. Examine all the
blackjack dealers until one gives you deja vu. He's Rudy,
your old sparring partner.
Show Rudy the newspaper clipping that deals with him and you
He winks at you and invites you to play a little blackjack.
Since you're old buddies, he lets you win. Put your chips
on the cards to stay. Eventually, his boss gives him the
signal to go on break, and he leaves his post.
Go back to the cashier chick and exchange all the chips you
won into dollars. Go back to the hallway, and leave the
casino. Outside the casino, head right to reach the train
station. Enter the station. You can go to the right to see
the list of departures on the wall. Find out where the train
to Chicago is. Enter the train and give the rude conductor
twenty bucks so you can go to Chicago, where Siegel was killed
Do it as fast as you can, or else the big jerk will thank
you for the tip and go off without you.
If you don't make it on the train, leave the station and try
again. When you make it, you fall asleep on the ride there.
In the station, make sure to grab a newspaper using a quarter
Leave the train station and enter the cab. Why, it's your
old pal Gabby! Unfortunately, he can't hear anything so you
have to find alternate ways of communication. Use your
driver's liscence on him, and he takes you to your apartment
Wow, what a dump! Stogie really messed up your room!
Luckily, your ugly plaid overcoat is safe. Take your
flsahlight, and the penknife from the drawer on the floor.
Go back to Gabby and use the newspaper clipping of you solving
Siegel's murder on him. He takes you to Joe's bar. Enter the
alleyway, and climb the fire escape. Open the penknife and use
it on the boarded window. Climb through.
Hey, it's the place where you found Siegel's dead body! Open
the old telephone on the wall to get a weird key. Go back
down to the alleyway, and head deeper in the allerway and you see
a door. Use your penknife to open the lock, and walk into
the bar. Go down to the wine cellar, and pull the bottle
without dust like in the first game. Go through the hole
that appears, and into the circular door. Use the weird
key on the righter slot machine to open it. You get a diary
and an address to Sugar's place. Woo hoo!
Go back to the cab and use the address on Gabby to go to
Sugar's apartment. Better watch your step, in the last game
she tried to kill you. The door to Sugar's room is locked
(very smart, considering what she does in there), but using
your penknife you can go in her house. Open her wardrobe
door and steal the cop's uniform. Open he vaccuum, use
the penknife on the bag, and take the letter. Go back to
Gabby. Use the newspaper you got in the train station to
go to the city morgue.
Before entering the morgue, take off your pants and put on
the cop's uniform. Enter the back room (you needed the cop's
outfit to get there) and open the drawer labeled five. Take
the tag off the stiff's toe. Exit to the morgue and give
the man at the counter the tag from the toe. He gives you
a box. Take the baggage claim ticket and the money. Exit.
Use the train schedule on Gabby to get back to the train
station. Grab a train to Las Vegas, just like when you took
the train to Chicago. When you're in Las Vegas, enter the
baggage claim. Open the clothes and grab the letter. Go
back to the hotel.
Instead of entering the casino, enter the elevator. Go to
floor three and exit. Jump in the clothes hamper and close
the lid. You'll have to wait a little while, so amuse
yourself by examining to laundry. Eventually, two thugs
take the laundry away to their laundry shack. They take
away some of your stuff to show the boss. Quickly, use the
rope that ties your hands together on the box. Go upstairs
and open the front door. Go back downstairs and hide in
the laundry hamper. The thugs will talk about how the front
door is open and you must have left. The boss won't be
happy.
Go back upstairs and into the bosses' office. Don't worry,
he's not there. Open his desk. Take his key, and open the
box in his desk. Take the magnet. Now leave the office,
and go through the front doors you opened earlier. You'll
be in front of their building, cleverly disguised as a
laundry service. Go right about four times (you'll pass
through the dessert) and enter the hotel. Get back inside
the elevator.
It's time to meet the boss. Use your magnet on the strange
empty spot above the floor four button. Wow, a secret level
Exit floor five and go through the door on the left. Use
the paperweight on itself and it breaks in half. Grab the
half that looks like a dart. Now backtrack all the way back
to the boss' office in Laundromat (make sure to pick up your
magnet). Use the dart on the dartboard. You enter a secret
office. Open the desk and grab the letter to the boss.
Make sure to drop one of the cigar rings the goon leaves
everywhere in the room. This way the boss knows the gig
is up and will try to kill Malone.
Go back to the hotel, and go up to the fifth floor. Go into
Malone's door (the one on the right). Drop off ALL the
important letters/envelopes/evidence in his room. If you do
all of it, this lets him know the boss is a traitor and he'll
try to kill the boss.
Now get out as fast as you can and jump on a train going
somewhere. When you get there, you read the news to find
out your plan worked. Malone and the boss both went after
each other at the same time. There was a big gun fight,
and both died. Congratulations, now nobody is trying to
kill you! Oh, and you beat the game.
