1.About the Author
Hello, my name is Lubomir Mario Slavchev. I thought this would be just a part of info
with my name and nickname, but I remembered that I haven't written much about myself in
my previous files, so I decided to add a small biography part. Hope you won't protest.
My full nickname is DJ MS Lubo- Erazor.BAT, but people often call me just Lubo, MS Lubo,
or Erazor.
lubo.s@mbox.bol.bg
I live in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
Bulgaria is a small country on the Bolkan Peninsula in the south-east part of Europe.
It is surrounded by other countries such as Romania, Greece, Turkey, Macedonia (which
is actually a part of Bulgaria, but they won't admit it!), Serbia. We have a coast on
Black Sea.
So I was born in Sofia and I have never been abroad, but I know a lot about life in
other countries (Russia, USA, etc) from my mail-friends.
The level of education here in Bulgaria is very high, and I'm proud of my English
skills, I have studied English for 10 years by now. Despite of that, I still make mistakes.
I was born in 1985, and I'm addicted to many things. I hate any drugs, cigarettes,
alcohol and anything that influences people's sober thinking.
My interests are firepower (pistols, rifles); butterfly knives (balisong); sabres;
computers (games&hardware mostly); books (Robert Ludlum, Lee Child, Richard Marcinko,
Michael Crichton, Tom Clancy); sport (offroad-biking, push-up drills). I love hanging
around school with my friends and practicing my butterfly knives' tricks.
I have been playing PC games since 1989 and I will never stop, because I love them. What
I like in games is not the graphics (although I like nice-looking games), but the gameplay
and the pleasure, which the game gives to me. I still play Alley Cat and Karateka on my PC.
OK, my first PC-experience was back in 1989, on a 8086 in my mother's working place- one of
her colleagues had a desktop PC 4.77 MHz with Karateka installed- and this was the most
astonishing thing for the 4-year old Lubo. My first private PC was a 286/20 MHz in 1996,
then a 486DX3/100 MHz (3x33, then 2x50, now 3x40- unstable under Win95OSR2PE) , a Duron/750 MHz
(the Duron got up to 7.5x123=923 with my Gigabyte 7VAX and before that up to 7.5x107=805 MHz with
my Acorp 7A1647- ALi MaGiK1 chipset) and now a 1700+ XP TB (ThoroughBred, not ThunderBird),
running at 2000+ (12x142=1691 MHz).
More about computers- I think DOS is the most stable and good OS, it lacks only a good
GUI (DOSSHELL???) and multi-tasking. Right now I'm using Windows 98SE with Norton Ghost-
I haven't reinstalled since May 2002.
I'm more interested in hardware, rather than software, although in 1998 I was addicted to
compiling BAT-files and converting them to COM-executables.
I believe in God, I'm a Christian. I have my own understanding for life, but this isn't the
right place to talk about all this. Just mentioning.
I don't believe in law&order, because they are made only to serve VIPs and they are no good
to the "small" people. I won't do my military service, because I think it's useless and stupid to do
it here in Bulgaria. But I know a lot about military stuff.
Computer games I odore are so much, that I should make another file on them. Anyway, here are
some of my favourites, I like retro a lot, but I like some of the new ones, too.
My favourite favourites:
Alley Cat, SPACE COMMANDERS (not INVADERS!), ARKANOID (originals only- 1 and 2), J-BIRD, DIGGER,
F19A Stealth (MicroProse's version 435.01), Karateka, Frogger, Goody, GunShip (not 2000, the old one),
Rogger Rabbit&Baby Herman: Hare Raising Havoc, XoniX, Test Drive (1&2:The Duel), Prehistorik (1 is better,
I can't play Pre2, for some reason it's too hard for me!), MORTAL KOMBAT 1,2,3,TRILOGY (not 4!!!), Tapper,
Tetris, Titus The Fox, Ugh! (this is a game, not a sigh!), The Dam Busters, and, of course, SOKOBAN!!!
There are more, I'm sure, but I can't list them all!
Another unforgettables- RISE OF THE TRIAD and DooM!!! And ElectroMan!!!
Some newer:
Duke Nukum (this is the original name!), Duke Nukem 3D, Quake (1 is the best!!!, 2 is good, III sux),
SiN (definitely rocks in MP!), Half-Life, SYSTEM SHOCK 2 (Fuck Shodan!), Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now,
Global Operations, Unreal Tournament (the original one), Deus Ex, Hitman: Codename 47 (Hitman2:SA sux!),
Resident Evil 2 (RULEEEZZ!!!), Heavy Metal FAKK2 (Hey, Julie!), Blade Of Darkness, Gruntz,
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, ALIENS VS. PREDATOR (1 is better!), BLOOD 2, and so on and so on,
Raven Shield, and so on... What else? Soldier Of Fortune (both SoF and SoF2 are very nice, but no game
can match the SoF2's dismemberfest!).
Games I HATE!: Counter-Strike, UT2003 (too tacky), mostly games which are made to get paid like
Tomb Raider for example.
Looks like that's all. Well, it isn't, but for now it's enough. Let's move on...
1.1.Previous Projects
So far I have written a couple of good walkthrus (mind my spelling, ;-)). I have created:
- Resident Evil 2 PC Walkthru- The Best One Out There!!! It includes full detailed walkthru for
Leon's mission A and B, a walkthru for eXtreme Battle (any character), a walkthru for Hunk and
ToFu's missions, a RE2 FAQ and some hints and tips.
- Global Operations- Hints&Tips, Weapons Info
I would write a moves list for Mortal Kombat 2, for MK3, and also for MK:TRILOGY, but I gave up,
because there are too many sites for these games, where gamers can find what they need. I also
wanted to complete a walkthru for Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, but on the 3rd mission I found out
that the game is too easy for anyone out there and gave up.
My works are usually submitted after a long time, but this is good, I hope. This is because I
test everything, check for any mistakes and publish them only after I'm 100% sure that everything
will work. So don't hate me, if I'm late with this material. At least it's reliable like an AK-47.
1.2.Tom Clancy and Rainbow Six (My attitude to them)
For anyone, who doesn't know, the game series Rainbow Six are based on Tom Clancy's novels,
where Rainbow Six is the codename for John Clark (whose real name is John T. Kelly), as I
remember. Domingo (Ding) Chavez is his daughter's husband, a real Mexican bandit, born in LA,
with Mexican origin. He is trained by Clark and helps him with the most difficult missions.
Fact is, I have never read "Rainbow Six"! I have read "Without Remorse", "Debt Of Honor",
"The Sum Of All Fears" and some other, I can't recall their exact names right now, because
I have read them translated in Bulgarian and sometimes, book titles are translated not 100%
accurately. They all are very good books, I like reading them in my relax-time.
On the other hand, Tom Clancy himself is a very swaggering man, maybe because too much praise has
puffed him up. Once on TV he said he didn't know the titles of his old books. And he thinks he
knows everything, but that's not right. Clancy says that a Bulgarian assassin from KGB shot the
pope about more than 20 years ago, this is wrong (I'm talking about the "Red Rabbit"). He also
thinks of Bulgarians as Russian-oriented fanatics, the name of the Bulgarian character in his
book was Strokov; no Bulgarian can have this name; it is a Russian name, not Bulgarian!
Raven Shield is a very good game. I mean it's pretty realistic. It's not 100% realistic, because
there aren't some real-life things like ricochets and wall penetration, but, think for a while-
if they were included, it would be too easy to kill them all just with the thermal scope shooting
through walls like crazy with your trusty .50" BMG Barrett M82A1 sniper rifle.
And jumping. Jumping is useless, if you want to remain stealthy. But here comes the problem with
the aiming. In the game, when you're running, you can't aim well. I think this isn't exactly this
way in reality, because there are people, who can shoot very accurately even when moving quickly.
They are very few people, but Rainbow Six is an elite squad, isn't it? I think the best solution
is to make aiming a little easier, but also make enemy-reactions at least 2 times faster, because
in real life noone will wait for you to point the barrel in his direction. He will just kill you
with one well-aimed shot, or duck behind a solid metal obstacle.
As a conclusion, Raven Shield is a very entertaining game, not 100% realistic, but more realistic
than the other games (Global Ops, Tactical Ops, Counter-Strike).
Well, it's a game after all! Games are made to give you fun, not to be "Maximum Reality".
1.3.Current status and my terminologia
OK, I admit it. I'm still playing Raven Shield and I'm not an expert. I have beaten the game only
twice, on Veteran skill. The first time I got about 10 of my men dead, the 2nd time I beat the
whole damn game with NO CASUALTIES!
I haven't played any other Rainbow Six game and Raven Shield was my first touch to the series, so
veteran players may find my tactics unusual. I'm not a Navy Seal, but fact is, my tactics work, and
if there's a better solution for a problem, I admit it. If you have any better ideas than mine here,
send them to me, check my e-mail back to the top.
Right now I'm trying to finish the first mission on Elite skill level with no casualties. I still
can't do it! Damn! Also, sometimes, I'll use bad language, if you mind this, fuck off!
Mind my spelling. I will use incorrect word forms, because I hate writing long words and maybe my
keyboard isn't perfect, so there might be some accidental typing mistakes.
Some advice while you're playing- try to do it once and do your best from the first try! If you
fuck up a mission, you'll have about 3-5 times to retry. After that you'll get annoyed, a little
bored and maybe nervous (e.g.: That damn terrorist keeps fucking up my plan!!!). If you keep screwing
up the mission, give up and relax. Then try again. Maybe your plan isn't the best, maybe your team has
the wrong camouflage uniforms, maybe the weapons aren't silenced, maybe some go-codes are useless...
To beat this game, you have to be calm and steady. Imperturbable. And always have your back watched
by the correct person. You have to think like crazy to do it right. That's why I like this game.
The atmosphere in the room where you are playing is very important, too. Forget about some hip-hop
blastin' from your CD-Player, you have to hear everything from the game SFX! Terrorists' footsteps
on concrete, reloads and trigger clicks, everything can be used as a weapon. Turn off the lights,
lock the door and play the game alone in your silent room. Concentrate!
2.Firepower section
No doubt, there's plenty of firepower in Raven Shield. Pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, sniper rifles,
shotguns, light machine guns- everything is there!
Every single weapon can be modified to suit your needs. You can choose attachments (thermal scopes,
silencers, larger clips, conventional scopes, etc) and even ammo type (FMJ/JHP). Of course, modifying
the weapon modifies its statistics- for example a silencer for the FAL will reduce its 99 Damage to 8,
so choose wisely! But 8 Damage isn't that bad, because a good headshot is always, always, always lethal.
I won't list all stats for all weapons, because it's a terribly big load of info and I don't have time,
also you can just launch the game and check everything, I'm going to give you just an overview- what is
every stat for?
OK, there are 5 stats: Damage, Range, Accuracy, Recovery and Stability. The first three are clear to
everyone, what about Recovery and Stability? Recovery is the time delay needed for the weapon to get
accurate after you stop moving, while Stability is the recoil- how much upwards does the crosshair
go when you shoot a single round. Both are not so important when you use light auto-aim, combined with
the small zoom- then recoil won't make you nervous. Don't use the close zoom, because with it you have
a narrower view of the area, you're covering. Use the big zoom only when your sniper is wounded- when
he is hurt, he can't aim well and it's better to have the wider crosshair on a bigger target.
2.1.Firepower In The Game
To be more precise, in the game are included:
8 Pistols, 14 SMGs, 16 assault rifles, 7 sniper rifles, 3 shotguns, 5 light machine guns.
A total of 53 guns&rifles- isn't that a nice opportunity to test your choice?
Ubi Soft and Red Storm didn't use the weapons' real names in the game, maybe because of
copyright and licenses? Here are the real names for each weapon:

2.2.The Only Firepower You Need
Although in Raven Shield there are too many weapons, most of the time you'll be using only
two types of weapons: normal, or silenced (for better results both scoped). You will want
silenced for hostage missions, because enemies hear that you're coming and then kill
hostages. Normal weapons are designed for missions, where the only objective is
"Neutralize all terrorists" and you want to surprise them with heavy bang. However, bringing
a silenced weapon is always the better choice- stealth is very important for success, because
surprised tangos need slightly more time to react.
So here are the all-purpose beasts that will help you to do the job no matter what pops in
front of you.
The absolute champion is the scoped H&K MP5-SD5. Why? Because it is silenced by default, has
somewhat good firepower (better than a silenced AUG) and is scoped. You can use it for anything-
close-quarters battle (CQB), sniping, assault. Just go for headshots. And note that the silencer
for any weapon will give you additional accuracy!
OK, here's my list of the best multi-purpose weapons in the game.
H&K MP5-SD5 (+Scope!)
Ruger Mini-14 (Silenced, it's both stealthy and strong, useful even for sniping)
FN FAL (+Silencer, to be more accurate, controllable and if you zoom, it's still accurate enough!)
Steyr AUG (in its normal unupgraded version, the AUG is the best weapon you can get, since it has
good clip size, scope, accuracy and power; use on no-hostage missions)
For sniping I don't use any rifles except the almighty Barrett M82A1 .50"BMG rifle, equiped with
the thermal scope. It's good on any mission, even if there are hostages, because when you snipe,
you're too far and tangos, keeping hostages, can't hear the shots. The Barrett should kill any
terrorist with only one shot, they will need a second one, only if you're aiming too terribly.
I don't use LMGs because I don't need to. I equip my team with silenced FALs and scoped MP5-SD5s,
and clean out every room stealthy! Once I accomplished a mission with only 5 single shots from the
enemies. Almost every terrorist was killed before he could react. The mission was the second visit
to the Meat-Packing Plant.
The problem with pistols is that they are almost useless. They are not very accurate, have little
ammo and work only in CQB. Their shots count only when you're crouching, out of ammo for your MP5-SD5
and you know that there are only 1-2 alive enemies on the map.
Advice: Use pistols for backup weapons, when you will have to do only CQB and you want to have both
a powerful primary and a stealthy sidearm. The wisest choice is the silenced Mk.23 .45"ACP pistol.
And choose JHP bullets for your pistols, because most of the time when you're up to your pistol, you'll
want to kill the enemy with only one shot in the head. The head is unarmored body part and everybody
knows that unarmored things are best handled with JHP bullets.
So what remains to be said is that the choice of weapons remains for you, but I will advise you to
use a combination of scoped MP5-SD5s and silenced FN-FALs with a two-man sniper team for backup.
2.3.Ammo Choice in Raven Shield
This is cool, in this game you can choose the ammo type for almost each weapon. Another bit of
realism (maybe realism, maybe not, read the next section for more info).
Here are the main ammo types:
Bullets and other ammo. Other ammo is for the three useless shotguns, bullets can be two types:
FMJ (Full Metal Jacket)- Made with a lead core surrounded by a full covering of brass, copper, or mild steel.
These have very little deformation or expansion, but will occasionally yaw/tumble. FMJ is a good choice when
you don't know what you will be fighting or possibly if you will be going up against a mix of armor types.
JHP (Jacketed Hollow-Point)- Soon after the invention of the JSP, Woolwich Arsenal in Great Britain experimented
with this design even further by forming a hole or cavity in the nose of the bullet while keeping most of the
exterior profile intact. These bullets could theoretically deform even faster and expand to a larger diameter.
Best used against unarmored targets only.
And the ammo for the shotguns:
12-gauge/70 mm .00 Buckshot- The trick with the buckshot is that you can have a few large pellets or a bunch of
smaller pellets. The smaller pellets have a better chance of scoring a hit due to the sheer number of pellets,
but the severity of the wound won't be as great as a hit from a larger pellet. The caliber, used in Raven Shield
is holding large pellets, .00 Buckshot is 9 lead pellets.
Slugs (also called "Brenneke")- this is the most deadly ammo for a shotgun in real-life, slugs will pretty well
flatten any target, armored or not, they have so good penetration and loud shot noise, that I won't advise you
to use them around hostages.
2.4.Firepower In Real Life
No matter how much Red Storm and Ubi Soft claim to have made Raven Shield a 100% realistic game, it isn't.
Even the weapons are not 1:1 to real life, because there are no ballistics (bullet-hit delay) and wall
penetration. But if you think for a while, there's no point to include bullet-hit delay in this game.
The reason is that the biggest distance for sniping won't exceed 50 metres- if you don't believe me,
try to find a wide open area, which can give a 500 m distance to check your accuracy- there's no such
place in Raven Shield. And if there were ballistics, it would be unnoticeable- for example a 9x19 mm
standard bullet flies with about 400 m/sec and for 25 m distance it is 0,0625 sec delay (we all know that
S=v*t) from the trigger pull to the bullet hit- can you sense such an insignificant delay? I guess not.
And this is a 9x19 mm bullet, other calibers are much more faster, .50"BMG has 850 m/sec velocity.
Another thing I hate in Raven Shield is the lack of dismemberfest. For example, a .50"BMG JHP bullet is
capable of blowing up the whole torso and a frag grenade in someone's ass will scatter all his guts around.
If you hit a man's wrist with a hi-speed bullet, his hand will fall down on the ground. There's no such
things in Raven Shield (maybe because they want to sell more copies to infants?).
On the other hand, death animations are really cool, ragdoll physics are very good (ragdoll physics means
that when someone is killed, he looses control over his body and his limbs can bend and twist in almost
any direction- remember the coarpses in other games- they all have died the same way). In Raven Shield
you won't see 2 exactly the same deaths- every time the enemies die in a different way. They even don't
fall completely on the ground, they can bend over a balcony's railing, for example, or if they get killed
while sitting on a chair, when they are dead, they will just hang their heads down, but still sit on the
chair- it's realistic, isn't it?
3.Artificial Intellect
Many people say that Raven Shield's AI is scripted. They say that terrorists keep moving with the same path
and taking the same places for cover. Well, think for a while. If you are a guard and have to patrol around
some object, will you choose a different route every day? Of course, not. You will just choose one, which is
the best and keep it until you get a better job. Then why not terrorists keep going the same way around the
same object?
Or, for example, imagine a real combat situation. You are alone, on the road, trying to shoot a RAINBOW
operative from 35 m. There are only two things on the road- a truck and a dustbin. Which one will you
take for cover? The dustbin? I doubt this. And if this happens again, with the same circumstances, will
you then choose the dustbin, just for a change? I don't think so.
Same for weapon choice, same for camouflage, same for grouping, same for everything.
4.Before You Start
Before you enter the game and start shooting around, there a couple of things you should do. Just don't
laugh and don't skip this, because it's important. Arrange your controls CAREFULLY! Be sure that you can
press every damn button (go-codes, hold-commands, team-select, etc) without glancing away from the screen.
A grain of distraction equals tons of replay. Memorize this rule.
The second thing to do is play all the training missions at least 2 times! They're extremely useful for
you to get a basic feel for the game- mooving, stealth, shooting, etc.
4.1.Training
You should pick them all- shooting, moving, rescuing hostages, using a sniper for help and so on. The last
two are very, very useful! Play them 2-3 times each, each time selecting different operative. You might not
want to be that patient and you might want just to "pop some brains and slice some veins", but this isn't
BLOOD 2, baby. Patience is the key.
4.2.Planning
The shooting is 1/4 of the game. The team equipment and team leader choosing is another 1/4. The planning is
1/2. So be prepared to spend some even more time before entering the 1st-person viewpoint.
OK, maybe you're a little puzzled with all this (I'm talking about newcommers to Rainbow Six series, this
section is for them, not for the elite players). Luckily, there are automatically generated plans for each
mission. They almost always need re-arranging, so use your mind.
Well, what's the main idea? The main idea is: TEAM WORK!!! One by one, lone wolves, you're no one! Going
alone against armed terrorists is nothing but suicidal. Duke Nukem can kiss Rainbow's ass (nothing against
Duke, just thinking sober).
So TEAM WORK means that you will attack the motherfuckin tangos from at least two sides with at least two
teams consisting from at least two operatives and when I'm saying attack, I mean doors blown up by breaching
charges, guns blazin and coarpses instead of terrorists after Rainbow's foot touches the room's floor!
Learn how to use go-codes wisely and be careful with them when playing with 3 teams- for example, team no.3
needs to wait until the room is cleared (alpha) and if team no.1 and team no.2 enter the room on alpha, then
team no.3 will go w/o waitin' for the others to clear the room and get spanked! So be wise!
The golden rule for hostage missions is: ONLY SILENCED WEAPONS WHILE AROUND HOSTAGE AREA!!! And "Infiltrate"
engagement mode, more about this later.
Well, I'm not going to give you a plan for each mission, because there's no sense doing this. The default plans
are good and with some brains they can get better. If you want, I can send you a .RAR archive with all my plans.
Some basic rules are:
Never leave a team w/o backup;
never storm a room with hostages with less than 2 teams;
always arrange go-codes when storming rooms;
try to arrange teams from 3 operatives (3 teams: 3+3+2);
never leave a sniper w/o backup- arrange a 2-men team from 1 sniper+ 1 assault specialist;
when having a sniper team, use the snipe mode for some waypoints;
before defusing a bomb, or setting breach, always clear the whole area around the place COMPLETELY!;
never turn your back to a door;
never stay in front of a door for more than 2-3 seconds- bullets can go thru doors and bodies!;
throw grenades only when 100% sure you'll be ready to shoot after that;
always be well hidden when sniping;
always choose the right camouflage for operatives;
medium armour is sometimes better than heavy armour;
remember to get gas masks with gas grenades, hehehe, (GAS! Cough-Cough-Cough!ARGH!).
There are some more, definitely, but I can't recall them all and I'll leave some of them on you.
Arrange all waypoints with Assault/Careful status, on hostage-missions use Infiltrate/Careful.
4.3.Rules Of Engagement
ROE is the way your team members react to terrorist's attacks and when they spot a terrorist.
There are 3 rules of engagement:
Assault- your men (or women) will start shooting with their best weapon once they see a "threat".
Also, they move quickly and smoothly, they neglect some areas.
Infiltrate- teammates shoot only with silenced weapons once they spot an enemy. They move more
carefully and check some areas. One of them is watching the team's back.
Recon- operatives walk slowly and stealthy. They will shoot ONLY when they are attacked and they
will shoot with silenced weapons. They shoot on contact only when you change ROE (to shoot on
contact means to shoot once you see the enemy, no matter if he had seen you, or not).
Most of the time I use "Infiltrate", it's the optimal one. "Assault" is good when storming a room,
while "Recon" is useful only on certain areas- outside the bank, for example, and when you're not
sure that the teammates' first shot will kill the enemy.
Also, ROE are different for each time, for example, RED team can be under "Assault" while GREEN
might be under "Recon" at the same time. Be always aware of all teams' ROE!
And another important thing- ROE will change to Assault whenever you fire a loud weapon. Example:
you're under "Recon" with your team and fire a loud Barrett (not supressed) shot. ROE immediately
change to "Assault".
4.4.Teams
This is another very important part of Raven Shield. You must pick people very carefully and equip
them even more carefully. Here are the best specialists for each "job":
Assault:
Domingo (Ding) Chavez- he's the best for everything, he can handle well locks&electronics, good sniper,
good observer and unmatched LEADER!!! To have Chavez dead means to fuck up the whole game!
Jamal Murad- he's my favourite, because he can do almost everything and his 99 self-control is brilliant.
I like it when he upgrades his Assault skill to 96-97.
Renee Raymond- she's a very good assault specialist and will always be a survivor. I like R.Raymond!
Eddie Price- he's the backup man for my sniper. But he can be a good leader and demolitions expert. Price
is a jewel. He's my favourite, because he was born on 21.Sept.1958 (I was born on 21.Sept.1985!!!)
Arkadi Novikov- He's a good leader, but sometimes will fuck up the whole mission, because of his bravery.
125 kg and 201 cm aren't good to play stealth, so use him when storming rooms. A sniper&electronics expert.
Jorg Walther- this crazy young motherfucker is a very brave soldier. An outstanding leader and electronics
expert. I combine him with Noronha, Filatov or Burke.
Genedy Filatov- Another favourite of mine. Filatov is like Murad, only a better Assault specialist.
Self-control is somewhat low, that's why I'd prefer Price, Murad or Noronha. Also, "Genedy" is not correct-
the right spelling of this Russian name is "Gennady".
Alejandro Noronha- That crazy Spanish bastard is a real ass-kicker- aggressive and deadly. Although he is
small in size, he's serious and determined to kill all tangos.
Andrew Burke- He's an observer, a demoman, and an electronics expert. A must-have for an assault team.
Sniper:
Dieter Weber is my man, because he's a friend of Price and has high stats. I give him the Barrett and forget
about things like cover.
Recon:
There's only 1 mission where you have to use a Recon, so it's not that important. Anyway, they all are good,
but I'd prefer Tracy Woo and Ayana Yacoby (check their stats).
Demolitions:
The best mission to use a good demoman is the last one. Everywhere else Eddie Price can do the job. My demoman
is Roger McAllen, because he's a good assault specialist (Morris kept dying in crossfires).
Electronics:
I don't use these people- Chavez and Walther are here, aren't they?
Team tips&tricks: the optimal number for operatives per 1 team is three. Two is too low in case they get caught
in a crossfire and with four of them the stealth goes boom. So 3 is the magic number. The magic combination for
most of the missions is three teams: two assault teams (with 3 assault specialists each) and one sniper team
(with 1 sniper and 1 assault specialist). Most of the time my teams are:
RED TEAM
Domingo Chavez- H&K MP5SD5+Scope, Flashbang Grenade, Gas Mask, Desert Eagle .357" Magnum
Jamal Murad- FN FAL+Silencer, Flashbang Grenade, Heartbeat Sensor, Desert Eagle .50"A.E.
Renee Raymond- Steyr AUG (normal), Tear Gas Grenade, Gas Mask, H&K Mk.23 .45"ACP+Silencer
GREEN TEAM
Arkadi Novikov- Steyr AUG (normal), Heartbeat Sensor, Flashbang Grenade, H&K Mk.23 .45"ACP+Silencer
Genedy Filatov- H&K MP5SD5+Scope, Gas Mask, Tear Gas Grenade, AP Army
Alejandro Noronha- FN FAL+Silencer, Gas Mask, Frag Grenade, SR-2
Sometimes I use different versions of the green and the gold team, but the red team, which is the most important,
always consists of Chavez, Murad and Raymond. Together they work very well, and Chavez keeps low-self-controllable
people like Raymond calm. He also helps not so good assault specialists (Murad) to advance by learning. Remember,
the red team is the one with the longest and hardest tasks.
In some quiet missions (with silenced weapons) I group Jorg Walther (with an M-14 and a Heartbeat Sensor) with
Alejandro Noronha (with H&K MP5SD5, or just a plain AUG, Gas Mask and Tear Gas Grenades). Then the sniper team is
formed by 3 men- Arkadi Novikov (normal AUG), Eddie Price (FAL+Silencer) and Dieter Weber. I always use the Barrett,
because it's awfully powerful and when sniping away from the hostage area, it won't make the enemies execute them.
4.5.Equipment
This is very crucial for a mission. As I said before, stick to the 100% reliable and powerful weapons- MP5SD5,
AUG, FAL, M-14, etc. This is clear for you, I hope. Well, let's take a glance at the inventory...
How to equip teams of 3 operatives? Always give them 1 heartbeat sensor and some grenades. A Flashbang and Tear Gas
with 2 Gas Masks. I use Heartbeat Sensor+Flashbang for 1 of them, Tear Gas+Mask for another and Mask+Flashbang or
Breaching Charge for the last one. I also give a silenced FAL to the one with the sensor, a heavy weapon to the
Tear Gas guy (or girl) and a MP5SD5 to the breacher. This is my instinct. I hate using explosive grenades, because
the boom attracts tangos and with its loud voice is able to persuade them to kill the hostages. Also, explosive
grenades are easily avoided. I odore throwing gas grenades thru windows and checking a room with a sensor, then
fluid-opening the door and tossing a flashbang in. After its loud crack, go in and kill'em all! As Richard Marcinko
says, KISS- Keep It Simple, Stupid!
So HB sensor is a must for every team, but don't buy HB pucks- they are designed for MP (multi-player, not military
policemen)! I'm still a rookie, so I don't know much about the Claymores, I haven't used them yet in any mission, I
think they are also designed for MP. If you know in which mission it's good to use one, mail me, please. Another
cool thing are the breaching charges. It's fun to handle a two-door room with tangos in with breaches. Just use the
breach on one of the doors (preferably the locked one, if any) to attract attention to this direction. Right when you
blow the door, tell the other team to enter thru the other door- every enemy in the room will be watching the door
exploding and they will get shot in the back (Don't talk unfair shit! Once we're alive and they're dead, it's still fair)!
Plus you'll be able to shoot thru the blown up door. Isn't that cool? Note that the tangos, standing near the blown
door will be stunned like from a flashang. One more plus for the breaching!
Another funny (and again unfair) thing is to kill tangos thru door with the Barrett (and this is another reason for my
love for the Barrett's power). Here you can use the thermal scope to your advantage. Just wait for the sucker to come
closer to the door, aim for his neck and bye-bye, sweet prince. They never know what hit them!
And here's another (yes, another) funny and again unfair trick- how to take out enemy snipers?! I invented this strategy
for myself and later I found that it wasn't new, but anyway, I didn't read it anywhere, so I'm proud of my skills developing.
OK, here's what to do- without being seen by the sniper, throw a smoke grenade and after that hide in the smoke. Turn
the thermal on and blast'em up while they can't see you! Neat effect!
One of my favourite tactics is to fill a room with gas grenades, thrown thru windows (if any) and then tell the other
team to storm it- really nice, trust me! Flashbangs also work, but killing tangos while they're coughing their lungs
out is obviously more relaxing, isn't it?
I don't know, maybe the street (I love hanging around the streets) has made me a person, who always wants to find and use
the easiest and the most unfair solution of a problem. Fact is, I enjoy doing nasty shit like all above, and if there
weren't any cool games like Raven Shield, maybe I would do all this in real life.
OK, enough talking shit, let's move on.
4.6.Go-Codes And Synchronization
I will again repeat myself, but what I want to say is true, so I'll say it: this is very crucial for a mission. Go-codes
are codes, which are given to teams to tell them to start doing something. For example, there's a room with 2 entrances and
a different route to each entrance. You send one team to one of the doors and you and your small team go for the other. But
you want the two teams to enter in the same time. If there are no go-codes, the team, which has arrived first, will go thru
the door and get spanked. So you need to know about go-codes. Place a waypoint with an Alpha go-code for each team before
each door of the damn room. This way the first arrived team will wait for the go-code and enter only after the code is
given. And, remember, the team will stay in one place until the go-code is given, and this way they are vulnerable (because
to be immobile is bad), so try to reduce the time, needed to give a go-code, or be sure that the area around the waiting team
is clear. Or tell them to snipe while waiting.
In the planning room you can add go-codes to waypoints and also add what to be done after the go-code is given, for example,
the team can used to lob a grenade, or snipe, when a go-code is given (they can also snipe until the go-code is given).
Here's the right place to tell you some more about sniper go-codes. You can't make a team snipe only with a single go-code,
then they will only stay in one place and wait, they won't snipe. So choose Alpha-Snipe in the planning room for a certain
waypoint and everything should be all right. Also, when reaching the sniping waypoint (snipe point), teams will wait for
a "Sniper, Free!" code- when it is given, they will start sniping, when it's given again ("Sniper, Hold!"- the button is
the same), they will again stop sniping. This way you can use sniper teams very well- you can tell them exactly what to do.
And when the major go-code is given, they will stop sniping and proceed to the next waypoint.
But don't use the same go-code for every place on the map, that needs more than 1 team! Imagine this situatuon. 2 assault
teams and 1 sniper team for backup. Sniper team will be "sniping until Alpha". The other teams will storm a room on Alpha.
You spot the mistake? When you give Alpha, the two assault teams will storm the room. But the sniper team will stop sniping
and proceed to the next waypoint! So arrange different go-codes for different actions, for example, prepare the assault teams
to go in on Alpha, but the sniper team to snipe until Charlie. This is very important.
Don't neglect the Zulu go-code! It's very useful when you want, for some reason, to do things, normally performed by 2 teams,
with 1 team- the best example- storm a room. How to do it- when you point the door with the crosshair, be sure you're far away
enough (about 2 m should be OK) to bring up the circular menu, considering actions, which can be done with that door. Normally
you need to left-click the command, but try right-clicking it. Your operatives will then wait for the Zulu to do whatever you
want them to do. Now you have time to go to another door and enter with the same team from two different entrances when you
issue Zulu.
The Zulu go-code can be used for syncronizing action between two or three teams. This is needed when the default plan has no
go-code waypoints for a certain room, but you still want to clear it with more than one team. Imagine a hangar with 3 doors.
You have no go-code waypoints to clear this hangar with the default plan. What to do? Tell your current teammates to open&clear
the first door on Zulu, then switch to another team and tell your new teammates to open&clear the second door on Zulu. Now switch
to the third team and go to the third door. You can either issue the Zulu go-code and watch the other two teams do the dirty work,
or join them thru the 3rd door while issuing Zulu.
This was an example for complex use of the Zulu go-code with 3 teams. It can be much more simple with 2 teams. Imagine the same
hangar, but with 2 doors. Tell your teammates to open&clear the first door on Zulu, then switch to another team. Issue Zulu and
at the same time storm the hangar thru the other door. Nice and clean.
There's another way to use one team as two teams and I think it's better, because it's faster for storming rooms. Stay a little
away from one of the doors and tell your teammates to open&clear. They will start walking to the door. Right when they are just
about to open it, press Team Hold. Be careful to do it before they open the door! Then go to the other door and prepare your gun.
Press again Team Hold to release them and open your door. That's it. (But it's much less professional than the Zulu go-code)
4.7.Auto-aiming
This is both good and bad. Good, because it helps you "neutralize threats" easier, bad, because with it you won't become a good
aimer. And it has another major disadvantage- sometimes there are terrorists, who need to stay alive (Gutierrez in the mission before
the last one). That's why I'm using low auto-aim and on this certain mission I turn it off when I'm storming the room, where
Gutierrez is hiding- if I accidently tap him in the head, the whole mission goes boom and I hate this. So, be warned, don't
overestimate the auto-aim!
4.8.Stealthy shooting
You must also know how to remain unseen while shooting. Choose silenced weapons (they have almost no muzzle flash) and the
right camouflage. From distances over 10 m, the bots won't spot you if you're not moving and wearing the right camo. And if
you're positioned aside to them, not right in front of their faces.
Peeking: you can peek around a corner, or a pillar without getting spotted. However, don't lean too much, or they will see
you. Lean quickly, and take them out with a good aimed shot. This will be very useful for some missions.
Another cool tactic is to kill tangos with headshots thru closed door, but this goes as a dirty trick, not stealth.
When you have a loud weapon, again use the peek technique, just be sure to kill the enemy with the first shot. And, while
sniping, move slowly and crouching. Some say light armour is best for snipers, but I think it's better to have heavy armour,
because you might be able to survive one hit from an unseen enemy and try to hide before the second one kills you. But if you
are up to surviving hits, you're rubbish- the key is to not let them even see you!
Nice tactic is to use a very sharp angle while aiming thru a door; also walk when you're expecting surprises, because walking
instead of running increases your accuracy.
Crouching and completely lying down is also useful. Crouch-walking gives you advantages- you'll become a smaller target and you
can go under windows without getting seen.
Learn how to open doors! If you have enough time, check the room with a HB sensor. If not, examine the door before entering-
if it's going to swing the same direction you're moving- good. Otherwise, stick to the wall and open the door without exposing
yourself! When dealing with doors swinging the right way (as I said before- doors, swinging the same direction you're moving),
try to move your crosshair while the door is swinging, move the crosshair with the same speed to be able to shoot anyone waiting
for you behind the door.
5.Walkthru
Ahhhh, at last. Now the real fun comes. Although positions of tangos in Raven Shield are almost always the same, unexpected
appearances is what kills. So this guide is 100% working, but don't forget to overcheck areas- it can save your teams' ass!
The guide isn't extremely detailed (and it's impossible to be, because many different situations can occur!), it will only
give the best weapon choice (according to me), the best camouflage and the best way to handle each mission. My skill level
is VETERAN, I tried ELITE, but I don't think it's sane, I still have to learn some more. I advise you to play VETERAN,
RECRUIT is too easy, VETERAN will give you a better feel for the game.
And I'm giving the exact number of enemies. This is very important- you will always know how much enemies are left. The
difference is big, if there are 16 or only 5 remaining tangos.
OK, let's start!
This is a somewhat easy mission, although I can't complete it on ELITE. I think the ideal player load is two assault teams:
RED: Chavez (MP5SD5+Scope, Gas Mask, Frag Grenade), Murad (FAL (Silenced), HB Sensor, Flashbang), Raymond (AUG, Tear Gas+Mask)
GREEN: Walther (M14+Silencer, Flashbang, HB Sensor), Noronha (MP5SD5+Scope, Tear Gas+Mask)
The color for the uniforms is black, use Heavy Armor for everyone, except for Chavez- he needs to be agile!
Start with Chavez and hold the other team until you take out the enemy on the catwalk just infront of you. He's a nasty one.
Release the green team and, again with Chavez, go left to the train on the rails. Take out everyone there, beware of those,
coming from the left "tunnel" (a tunnel is the place between two trains). Then, slowly walk forward and keep looking up until
you see a bridge (while doing so, be covered from the right side, there are tangos there). On the bridge there's another
bitch, shoot him. Now switch to Raymond, for her powerful AUG and climb up to the bridge. Go to the door and prepare for about
5 tangos inside. Open and shoot them all without entering. After you're sure everyone in the room is dead, go back down. Now,
careful. Go to the Alpha-point, on the way there are railings and catwalks over you- there are 1-3 tangos, and there can be
one on the ground, so clear them all. HB sensor is great helper here! Then, get to the Alpha point and issue the code, then
enter! You might want to switch to green team, because sometimes they get spanked on their Alpha point, but normally, they
shouldn't. After you clear the rooms, switch back to Raymond and continue carefully. Look around every door and room, watch
your back. When you reach a big room with some (yellow?) machinery in it, be extra careful! Use the machinery for cover and
move left, watching to the right- there are about 3-4 enemies down there. And don't let those in the upper room on the other
side snipe your ass out. You can shoot the explosive container to blow up the bitches. Then quickly move under the room. You
can try taking the bastards over you with Chavez's frag grenades. Proceed forward, following the waypoints. From now on it
should be easy. Just don't get caught off-guard! Overcheck the catwalks/railings, be careful when climbing those stairs to
the second level and everything should be all right. If you're stuck and you don't know where are the tangos, try to use
the HB sensor. The green team should be OK on their own, in my case they didn't need any help. After the mission is over,
take a breath and relax- the real shit is coming!
First, look closer at the objective- there's no "neutralize all" task. Which means once the hostages are out, the
mission is complete. But, it's not very pleasant to get in a crossfire while escorting the last hostage. So I advise
you first to take out all tangos.
Believe me, or not, I think the easiest way to handle this mission is with only one assault team! Here they are:
RED: Chavez (MP5SD5+Scope, Gas Mask, Flashbang), Murad (FAL+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Raymond (AUG, Tear Gas+Mask)
And give them all a H&K Mk.23 .45"ACP sidearm.
Equip Chavez with Medium Winter Camo, Heavy Winter Camo for Murad and Heavy Winter for Raymond. Actually, it doesn't matter
that much if it's camo, or just plain white, because stealth is the key to success in this mission.
Start with Chavez and turn right, move forward, then right. Forget about default waypoints, do it this way, trust me!
Look left thru the window and wait. You don't need to wait long- the door opens, shoot the 2 bastards inside the big room.
Then enter thru the door. Check the right side of the stairs for a tango (if he's there, he's very well hidden). Then open
the door up, to the right. It leads to another door to the right, but you should go left thru the wooden corridor. Careful,
there's one enemy. After killing him, look down, but don't use the ladder. Tell Murad&Raymond to go back to the big room
(where the first 2 tangos were) and stand infront of the double doors down the stairs (just standing, no opening!). Now
you must be in that wooden coridor, open the small wooden double-window on the left side and be prepared for a shootout.
Try to kill them all for about 3 seconds. If there's no one down there, look more carefully down and right, near the car-
where the pillars are. There will be one tango and one should get out of the room behind him (the double doors facing you,
you might not be able to see them from the angle, but there is one enemy there).
This is somewhat tricky, just don't get killed- the key is to first kill the pillars guy, then get ready for the others.
Then join all together again and exit the door to the right (from the back of the wooden corridor, the one I told you not
to go thru). Turn right and go down the stairs (check the backside, if you want). Be ready for shooting, but if you
everything right, there's no one here. Remember this area- the two double doors. You can open the left double doors and
kill the fucker inside, but better do it later. For now, just move to the left of the left double doors. (To be precise,
the left double doors are these closest to the car, the main double doors is where you still haven't gone and the back
double doors are those which I told you to guard with Raymond&Murad)
OK, proceed to the left, there's an unopenable nailed door. Left again, there is a tango 99%. This area is dry, no snow,
a cart and some dried grass (hay) are there. Again some stairs. Go up all of them. Yes, this is your starting position.
We did all this just to be sure that our six is cleared. Now, go back from where you came (or down the other stairs).
Go to the left double doors (near the car and the nailed door). Go in the small room (Chavez alone, others outside).
See that ladder? Up there's a sniper. Give him a flash and shoot him. Then climb up very carefully!!! Right after climbing,
crouch! Thru the window you can see one small window far away. To the right of this window is another one, with a sniper.
Very slowly move and kill him using the scope. Then look down and to the left. Wait for 2 tangos to appear. If there are
more, kill them all. Wait some more and after that get back down. In this game patience is very important, so don't leave
this window, if you haven't killed at least 3 tangos. And watch very carefully, because on a window, you're an easy
target. And, whatever you do, don't enter the door to your right.
OK, after you're ready, go back down and call your friends. Exit the door ahead, near the ladder and go to the right.
This is a wide open area with some buildings and obstacles. Play stealth and go right to a wooden door, enter it.
Be quick! Two tangos in a corridor- kill them as quickly as you can! Then get to the hostage, but don't take him with
you (if you want, do it, but it's useless, better leave him there). Now, open the door near the hostage to kill more
tangos. Don't go up the stairs! Exit to the left, leading to a jeep. Be careful- possible tangos left, right, or both.
Go to the left, using the trees for cover and continue to the left. Watch your back. Turn left, then turn right. You come
to a door. First, check outside and then enter. One more tango down. Then go back to the jeep and turn left. The goal is
to secure the house. Be careful not to get shot thru the windows. Before entering, check your right- between two stacks
of chopped wood- this is the hostage rescue zone. Get them here, if you want. But we are going to do it the other way.
(Securing hostages is 2 ways: 1.Get them to the extraction zone or 2.Kill all terrorists. We're on 2 now.)
OK, enter the house and shoot them all. Be careful with the small bar and the second floor! After everything is complete,
check how many tangos remain. If they are less than 4, it's OK. If there are more tangos remaining, it looks like you've
missed someone. Better re-check every area before proceeding with the last hostage.
The last hostage is where the main double doors are. But to enter from there is not the smartest move. So we're going to
do it smooth, clean, simple and unfair. Go back where the first hostage is. In the near room there are stairs, leading to
double doors. Switch to Murad and tell Chavez&Raymond to open&clear these double doors on Zulu go-code. Then go to the left
double doors and climb up the ladder again. Enter the door QUIETLY! There's another door to the left. Just before opening
it, issue the Zulu go-code! And blast in immediately! 1 or 2 tangos for you. Raymond&Chavez for the other two.
Mission complete!
///There's another way to do it, if Chavez&Raymond let the enemy kill a hostage, you can use Raymond instead of Murad and
tell Chavez&Raymond to open&clear the same double doors on Zulu. Move the same way you moved with Murad, just throw a gas
grenade down to the hostage area just before issuing Zulu. The hostage will run away and it'll be safe for Chavez&Raymond
to open the door and shoot the shit out of the tangos inside.
This is the continue of Cold Dagger, again snow and terrorists- I hate them (the terrorists, not the snow!). Normally, I
play with 3 teams- 2 assault and 1 sniper team. Here's how:
RED: No changes from previous mission
GREEN: Walther (M14+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Noronha (AUG, Flashbang, Frag Grenade)
GOLD: Price (MP5SD5+Scope, Flashbang, Breaching Charge), Weber (Barrett M82A1+Thermal, Primary Mags, HB Sensor)
Start with Weber and issue hold for all teams, then have Price follow you. The RED team must guard the brown iron door to
the left with the two barrels outside. Go down the snowy path and crouch (10 m before the first vehicle), sniping everything
between the vehicles. Be careful! You should kill about 7-8 before proceedind. After that, slowly walk forward, between the
cars, checking the view thru your thermal scope. There are 2 sniper in front of a door in the distance, take care of them.
Then leave Weber and Price and switch to Raymond for her AUG. Open the door and go down the stairs, blasting everyone. Keep
going fast, until you reach a corridor. 3 tangos there, 1 coming forward, from the right. Move forward, turn right (some
sandbags there). Check if the door is closed. Then check the left. Then go back to the door in case you haven't killed the
snipers with Dieter. Turn left and go between the cars. Reach the mines corridor. Release the hold team to make them all go.
Note that here you should switch to Chavez for his silent MP5 and change ROE to Infiltrate, because the hostages are close.
Then enter the corridors. In the second one, a tango to the right. Kill him and go left, then turn right and prepare for
serious battle. Go forward, then stop behind the boxes and turn left. There are tangos, so blast them. One behind the boxes,
another one in a cave, more coming from the left. Beware of the staircase and the second floor. Proceed to the cave and there
might be some more tangos. While going to the cave, keep an eye on the stairs behind you- a classic ambush point. There's a
dark door with the two hostages and at least one tango, hiding to the right. No right to make mistakes. Open from the left
and kill the bastard. The hostages should be in front of you. A good idea is to use Murad's HB sensor to check where they
are- to avoid accidentally killing them. The rightmost heartbeat should be the enemy's the two closely-placed heartbeats
are the hostages'.
If you want, you can leave this for later. Just be sure no one heard you and go up the stairs. Be warned- there are about
6 tangos there. Watch the left passageway. A door ahead, enter it and kill anyone inside. Exit thru the other side, firing
at those to the left. Again stairs and tangos. One of the team should always watch your back. Reach the ladder, but don't
climb up- you'll get where you started. Go back to where the hostage room is. If you're lucky, the enemy inside will be
attracted and might come up to see what's going on. If that happens, shoot him and it's all over. If he comes up, he signs
his own death penalty, because you can blast him no prob- there are no hostages there.
You might be petrified with all those objectives, but relax. There's a somewhat easy way to deal with the bombs- just kill
the leader before he sees you and you don't have to defuse the damn bombs.
This mission is fun. You have to play slow and use professional techniques. A test for your skills. If you have relied on
luck for the previous missions, now you have to rely on your team!
I play this mission with 3 teams- 2 assault and a sniper team. Here are the teams. The correct camo is blue/blue camo.
RED: Chavez (MP5SD5+Scope, Demo Kit, Gas Mask), Murad (FN FAL+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Raymond (AUG, Tear Gas+Mask)
GREEN: A. Novikov (AUG, Flashbang, HB Sensor), Walther (M14+Silencer, Demo Kit, Gas Mask), G. Filatov (MP5SD5+Scope, Gas+Mask)
GOLD: E. Price (FN FAL+Silencer, Smoke Grenade, Frag Grenade), D. Weber (Barrett M82A1+Thermal, Primary Mags, HB Sensor)
I give them all heavy armour, only Filatov and Price go with medium, because I think they need to be quick. Also, Chavez has
a .357" Magnum, an AP-Army (damn, I hate this name, call it Five-seveN!), a SR-2 for Raymond and Novikov and Mk.23s for all
the others, loaded with JHP.
OK, what's the main scheme? This mission is neither difficult, nor quite easy. Just concentrate! The mission goes like this:
1. Take out any snipers
2. Get in and defuse the bombs one by one (optional, but useful)
3. Kill the leader
4. Clean the place
Start with Dieter Weber and tell them all to hold. Get Price following you and stop at the corner. Tell Price to hold. Now,
the goal is to kill as many enemies as you can with your trusty .50" caliber rifle. There are about 4-5 tangos wandering
around, so be patient. Keep an eye on the crates left of you and DON'T LEAVE THE CORNER AREA! After killing about 4 enemies,
concentrate on the area just in front of you (Price holding). Your task is to kill the sniper up there on the right window.
Be extra careful and move slow with peeking left from your wall. Don't use the thermal scope, because the bitch is behind a
window; windows block heat. Keep it slow and once you see a part of his head, aim very carefully and kill him with one shot.
Wait a bit and if anybody else pops his head out of the window, help him join his friend. Then turn left and go slowly between
two crates, looking up on the platform. There's another sniper, and he's ready for you, so shoot him once or twice, not in the
head, to be sure (to find out if he knows your position, check if his gun is visible- if it is, don't wait and show up, scoring
a headshot, do it fast!). Now go forward, turn right, reach a truck and go back to Price. Go to a box with a ladder and leave
him down, facing the area below the windows. Then climb Weber up and leave him sniping the same area. (The key to survive up
to here is to kill all tangos before engaging on the snipers)
Leave Weber and Price and switch to Chavez. ROE: Infiltrate. Go right to the area below the sniper's window and enter the
hall to the left- 2 (sometimes even 3)tangos! Be very nimble and kill them silently. The one should be in front of you,
behind some boxes (or stacked iron sheets), the other one to the left, near the leftmost door, or again hiding behind boxes.
(While entering the hall, don't forget to beware of the stairs behind you; a good idea is to leave Raymond guarding)
Then leave someone guarding the two doors to the left and clean the area below. Move to the right and aim down from a safe
angle- the key is to kill them while they are with their backs to you, patroling. There are two or three bitches down
there- one is in front of you, the other one to the left, another one might enter thru the door on the right. Be quick!
After that, leave the RED team guarding this room and switch back to Price. Go to where the RED team is. Exit the right door
and lob a smoke grenade. Remember to guard the stairs in front of you. Switch to Weber and go in the cloud. Use the thermal
scope to take out the distant sniper (up and right on a high position). Then kill the upcomings, if any. If there aren't
any enemies coming, then carefully approach forward with Price and check. There should be some tangos. Be careful with the
window! Open the door and immediately clear the room silently! Wait a beat and go back to the hall. While doing all these
things, have Weber covering the two flies of stairs.
Now, let's get some work done with the GREEN team. Switch to Filatov and enter the door to the left of the truck (a yellow
door, I think). ROE: Infiltrate. Keep an eye on the catwalk above while moving forward. For the first 10 m use the carriage
as cover. Then turn right and kill the distant enemies- up on the distant catwalk to the right, also some down and between
the wooden boxes. Be sure every enemy is dead! Some tangos on the railing to the right, also. Kill them all silently and
find the three barrels with the bomb. Check the hall again and move Filatov right to the wall. Aim at the window, under the
catwalk above. Tell Walther to disarm the bomb (best done with a Zulu code) and when he starts, shoot the window. If anyone
pops to check, you know what to do. Be careful with the door to your right.
After the bomb is defused, gather the team and enter the door to the small room under the catwalk (left of the bomb, leading
to stairs and a corridor). Go with the corridor and open the door ahead of you just to check the other two teams, but while
doing so, watch your back! Then go back to the stairs and climb them up. You'll end up in a small room with 3 doors and a
ladder. Check if there's someone on the roof (with a HB sensor, if there's someone, lob a grenade). Then, tell Novikov and
Walther to guard the grey door and exit the nearest yellow door. Follow the catwalk to another grey door to your left. You
have 2 choices here:
1. Clear the next room only with Filatov
2. Use your team
However, I'd prefer the first choice. Enter with Filatov (quiet!) and wait at the door. There should be two tangos ahead of
you (behind some desks). Kill them silently! Then move to the left and kill some more, keep crouching and killing them
quietly! If you do it right, the others won't hear you. Then start checking the rooms, one by one, slow and ready for anything.
You should kill a total of 5-6 tangos in this room. If you used Weber before (while he was sniping from a metal box, outside),
you would have killed about 50% from the content of this room.
Now, switch back to Chavez and go down the other stairs. You will reach a "FARE Hard Hatt" sign and a grey door. The bastards
are on the left. A quick take down is a must here. I don't use multiple teams, because the area is very difficult. Better
clear the room with a few really good specialists. Move, crouching, forward, then issue "team hold" (for Murad&Raymond to
watch your back) and move left, aiming left, killing a tango, who is guarding a bomb. Be nimble! After killing the son of
a bitch, switch to Raymond and tell Chavez to defuse! Guard his back. If you have killed the tangos from the upper level
before, there's no reason to worry.
After that, enter the yellow door near Chavez and go down the stairs. Prepare for the final shootout. Switch to Raymond for
her AUG. Go thru the narrow corridor. Boxes to your right, a tango ahead- kill him! The hot spot is to the right- the leader
is there! Have Chavez and Murad watch forward and take care of the leader and his crew! Do it quickly! Kill them all and if
you have enough time, you can try lobbing a Gas Grenade. Better don't, because it takes time. Kill them with the AUG. By
killing the leader you don't need to disarm the last bomb. There should be one (or two) more hiding forward in the end of
the long corridor. Leave Chavez and Murad watching it and go right, then proceed left. Be careful not to fuck up the mission
right now! Kill the remaining tango(s) and it's MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Preferred ROE: Infiltrate! There are hostages, bitch!
Objective(s): Neutralize All Terrorists
Rescue all three hostages
Tangos: 28
This mission is quite difficult. Sometimes I get spanked even when I know I can win. You have to concentrate very well and
you have to rely on luck. And you have to be resolute, dogged to do it, because failures are a frequent event while playing
this mission.
I deploy 3 teams- 2 assault and 1 sniper/assault team. I use the sniper/assault team to rescue 2 of the hostages. It might
not be the best plan, but most of the time, it works. So let me introduce my teams. The uniform color is euro/euro camo.
RED: Chavez (MP5SD5+Scope, Flashbang, Gas Mask), Murad (FAL+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Raymond (UMP.45"+Silencer, Gas+Mask)
GREEN: Walther (M14+Silencer, Breaching Charge, Frag Grenade), Noronha (FAL+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang)
GOLD: Novikov (MP5/10A2+Silencer, Frag, Flashbang), Price (MP5SD5+Scope, Br.Charge, Smoke), Weber (M82A1+Thermal, HBSensor, Primary Mags)
Chavez, Walther, Noronha, Novikov and Price go with MEDIUM armour. All the other soldiers go with heavy. We need a good balance
between speed and protection.
Start with Weber and immediately issue "all hold". Now we have to position the teams in order to guard some doors. Chavez will be
guarding the door left of the starting area (if you don't know where it is, get to the first ambulance and look to your left).
Murad will be guarding the two doors in the narrow passage to the left, be careful while positioning him, because you have to
use a metal object (a vent shaft?) for cover. Walther and Noronha will be guarding the locked door straight from their starting
position and two another doors, to the right of Chavez, near a big truck. All ROE: Infiltrate. Now, switch back to Weber and
proceed to Walther and Noronha. Pass them and reach the corner. Issue "team hold". Slowly turn around the corner and scope. Peek,
if you need to. The goal is to take out the distant sniper without getting spotted. He is behind some boxes, only his torso is
visible. Shoot him in the shoulder and be quick. Some more tangos will be coming out. Check if there's anyone around the boxes
with the thermal scope. Then switch to Price and proceed forward. Be careful with the area- don't get shot by someone, hiding
behind/between the boxes. Go left to the door and kill the bitch inside, if any. A good idea is to do it thru the window. Then
enter and continue on clearing the rooms. Crouch and walk thru the corridor. A bluish door to your left. Open while crouching and
quickly shoot the terrorist. Come back in the corridor and proceed to the stairs at the end. Climb up. Leave your team down,
guarding the corridor. When you climb the stairs, go to the left and check. Don't open the door, go back and past the window.
The first door to the right is a WC, the other one holds 2-3 enemies. Don't get close to the window! (Or if you do, do it right-
quickly, peeking and using the wall for cover; kill all the enemies around the plane down there; be extra careful) Better leave
clearing the area behind the window for later.
Go back to Weber and Novikov. Get back out and check your six- your six is the corner, from where you were sniping. Then go forward
and turn left, but don't continue. Snipe out about 2-3 tangos and kill the one behind the window to the right. Issue "team hold" and
hug the right wall. Keep going next to the wall, using the above terrace as cover, because there are snipers up there. Keep going
forward and turn right at the corner, to use the terrace again. If you have done everything up to here right, there shouldn't be
enemies on your left, but, anyway, be careful. Use the garbage container for cover from the window ahead. Keep hugging the wall and
get closer to the window- there is a tango inside! Kill him, of course. Then, again using the terrace for cover, check the area
around the vans and the door. Then go back to your team. Turn left and concentrate, because the real fun starts here!
ROE: Infiltrate! You should see a door. Enter it. Quietly, go up the stairs and kill the enemy! Be quiet and don't let him fire!
This is the real key in this mission: don't let them hear you, don't let them spot you, be a ghost! Only sniping them in the start
was somewhat good idea. Now play slow and quiet! After killing the tango, enter the door to your left. Slow and quiet! Open the
next door and kill the hiding terrorist- he's to your left. Don't open any other doors! Just continue the path and go down the
stairs. Another tango might be hiding down there, or lurking around the stairs. Don't open the door. Go back up, then go down
the other stairs. Now you're back- where you entered. Here's a neat trick. Stay on the stairs and use your MP5SD5's scope to
find a tango, holding an assault rifle. He is standing about 30 m away, between some walls. Now, quickly and quietly! Go down
and tell your teammates to open&clear one of the two doors to your left. You open the other one! Be ready for quick kills!
There's a tango, hiding behind a desk and a monitor to your left. Kill him! Switch to Novikov and go where Price is. Forward,
where you killed the tango with the assault rifle, there are 2-3 enemies, hiding behind some furniture. Throw a flashbang and
engage on them. Continue forward and turn left. Don't exit the door ahead, go back thru the corridor. Open the door to enter
the room with the killed tango. Open the next door. Go right to a door (leading to the staircase), don't enter, go left,
enter another room, possible tango encounter. Be careful. Exit the door and go up the stairs. This is the point of no return.
Now you will either win, or fuck up the whole mission.
Go up the stairs and stay in the room with the two aircraft posters on the right wall. There are about 2 (or even more) ways
to rescue the 2 hostages in the next room. Here they are:
Solution no.1:
Switch to Novikov (Price has higher self-control) and tell the other teammates to open&clear the door ahead (let's call it door 1)
on Zulu. Then go to the room on the left, exit it and turn right to the door (this is door 2). Issue "Zulu" and keep an eye on the
teammate status field- up right there on your monitor. Once you see "Opening door", open your door and blast the terrorists ahead!
Your team should be handling those to your left. Pray that you do it right and be damn quick! After the smoke rises, issue "team hold"
and open the door, leading to the terrace. To your left is the sniper, you used the terrace for cover from him! Fill his ass with
bullets (or, better plunk just 1 in his head!). Go back down and go all the way back to your starting point, this is the hostage rescue
point! Be careful and constantly watch your back while moving, escort the 2 hostages and you're done with the GOLD team!
Solution no.2:
Set a breach on one of the doors! Choose it on your own. Anyway, the explosion will give off some smoke, so better use the
charge on the door 2, which you entered in the previous solution. Teammates will be used to open&clear the same door as in the
previous solution (door 1). Blowing up the charge should be done exactly when the other two operatives start to open their door.
Breaching will help you to distract some attention. Once a terrorist even ran away, shouting histerically (but I had set the
breach on the incorrect door). Although this is fun, I advise you to use solution no.1, because it's easier and quicker.
Other solutions are: fluid-open door 1 and quickly toss a grenade (preferably a gas grenade, flashbangs also work well, forget
about frag grenades- don't you care about hostages?!); or enter with the whole team from door 1 (almost always sucks); etc.
After rescuing the 2 hostages, switch to Raymond. Enter the door, near Murad. Then enter the only door you see- to your left.
ROE: Infiltrate! To your left is a tango, ahead of you is an ambulance. Shoot the son of a bitch and go left- be extra careful
not to get spotted by the bitches up there, behind the windows. Be careful while moving to the door, because there might be
tangos behind the vehicle, near the other door. Open the door and knock him out! Then open the door to your right- another
bastard! You can check the WC if you want. Don't exit the other door, better go back out thru the two rooms. Climb up the
stairs and tell Chavez and Murad to open&clear on Zulu. The next part is fun. Get back down, under the windows and hug the wall.
Get right under the windows and back a little away from the wall. Throw 2 gas grenades thru the windows and issue "Zulu" after
the second grenade is thrown (not after it explodes, but after it leaves your hand). You can also add a flashbang to the 2 gas
grenades, if you want, but I think they are enough. Another hostage rescued. Get him back to where the other two are. Note that
you can start the mission with the rescue of this hostage, but better do it my way, because it's harder to rescue the other two
and better do easier things without worrying about harder ones- you'll be more relaxed.
What remains to be done is kill the assholes, residing around the plane I told you about. Use your RED team and go where the
dead sniper and the boxes are. Enter the door to the left and go on the second floor. Pass the WC and get to the window- don't
get too close! If you want, throw a flashbang, or a gas grenade thru the window. The goal is to shoot all the tangos there
quickly, without getting shot. Leave someone to guard the stairs you used to come here and be sure that Walther (or Noronha)
is guarding the locked door back outside. Be extra careful while engaging on the tangos around the plane, because there's one
on a ledge with a ladder, aiming right at your position- take him out first. The others should be easy to kill.
A more funny way to kill them is by using Walther. But first use Price or Novikov to enter the area left of the sniper&the boxes,
then enter the door in the room left, before the stairs. Guard the two ways. Then, with Walther: aim by a sharp angle from outside
the locked door and kill the bitch above the ladder. That's it!

2006.04.19-1300
Preferred ROE: Assault; Infiltrate
Objective(s): Neutralize All Terrorists
Rescue both hostages
Tangos: Only 18! (Sometimes 20?)
Ahhh, another hostage mission! I guess you're mad with all these hostages. Relax, there are some plain shooting missions coming!
Now, concentrate. The uniform color is tan/tan camo. This mission is rather short, simple and easy, if you know what to do. The
key is quick killing. And, this time the terrorists aren't so dogged- they won't shoot the hostages the first time they hear one
unusual sound.
In the estate, there are a few hot spots, but with a little luck (and a maybe little retries) you will easily master it. I use
2 assault teams to do it, but I can do it also with only 1. But, to be easier for you, I'll give an example with 2 teams:
RED: Chavez (MP5SD5+Scope, Flashbang, Gas Mask), Murad (FAL+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Raymond (UMP.45"+Silencer, Gas+Mask)
GREEN: Novikov (MP5/10A2+Silencer, Flashbang, Frag), Price (FAL+Silencer, HB Sensor, Br. Charge), Noronha (MP5SD5+Scope, Flash, Frag)
The equipment (I mean items aside from guns&rifles) isn't that important for this mission, the things you should care about, are
the quick kills and stealth. Chavez and Raymond go with heavy tan, Novikov with heavy tan camo, Murad and Price with medium tan and
Noronha with medium tan camo. This is for fun, give them any type of armour, if it's still tan, it will work. Give a .357" Desert Eagle
to Chavez and Novikov.
Start with Chavez and issue "all hold", but have Murad and Raymond follow you. ROE can be either Assault, or Infiltrate, it doesn't
matter, you're still far away from the hostages. Turn left and go up the stairs, as close as you can to the wall to your right
(crouch under the windows for maximum stealth). This is the first hot spot. On the last window, turn around and shoot everyone inside
, thru the windows. Be careful, because sometimes there's an enemy hiding near the door to your left, so it's a better idea to check
it before engaging on those behind the windows. Then, crouch in front of the door and open it, but don't enter- just shoot them all!
Leave Murad&Raymond guarding thru the door and go left to a window. Shoot it to check if there's somebody inside. Turn around and
look up- there's a balcony and there's a tango lurking up there. How to lure him? Pull out the almighty Magnum and shoot 3-4 times
up there, aiming at the wall. Soon the bitch will come to check what's going on. Kill him either with the Desert Eagle, or with
your trusty MP5SD5. After all that go left to another door, leading to a small kitchen. A tango might be hiding there, somewhere
around the fridge (is he hungry?). Exit the door ahead and you're inside. Check the corridors and call Murad&Raymond. Now switch to
ROE: Infiltrate. Go to the piano (it is in the room, where you first shot a tango; the room with the many windows). To the left of
the piano is a door- open it and shoot the tangos. Be careful, they might be using the pillars as cover. Whatever you do, do it quietly.
There are 2-3 ways to do the next step. Let's see.
Solution no. 1. Tell Murad&Raymond to open&clear the left door on Zulu, then enter the right door and turn left- you'll see a hostage.
Either lob a flash and issue Zulu (while the flashbang is still flying), or go kill the guarding tango while issuing Zulu.
Solution no. 2. Just open the door and shoot the bitch! Do it fuckin' quickly!
There's also another idea- use a gas grenade, then kill the enemy. Anyway, this is not a difficult area, so if you have problems
with it, then you're a dumbass!
All right, get the damn hostage and go to your closest waypoint. Tell the other team to move and if they wait for Alpha, issue it,
they will waste their time with breaching the front door, so you can just switch to a GREEN member and skip the Alpha-wait waypoint.
OK, using Chavez, return to the piano room and go up the stairs. After you climb up, immediately turn left and shoot the enemy.
Then proceed to the corridor to the right and go left, checking every room. Stay away from the windows! There should be tangos in
the rooms, I can't tell you which room holds a tango, because they constantly move, so be ready for a sudden trigger pull. After
you clear all the room plus the corridor and the small staircase, return to the bathroom and use the window to snipe out the
tangos down there. Everything should be OK, because they can't see you from a distance, your camo helps. If you can't cover the
whole area, try the window in the next room. And if they are hiding, shoot all the glass over the pool- it'll attract them, trust
me. For even more noise, throw a flashbang in the pool. After you're ready, go back to the stairs, but, this time, go up the
second staircase (it's very small, leading to double doors). Open and be ready to be greeted with bullets- check to the right and
then to the left. Just do it quietly! Now, here's the last hostage. Do you see the two doors ahead? Tell your teammates to
open&clear the left one on Zulu. Open the right one and turn left, without moving. Issue Zulu and kill the tango. One more hostage
rescued. If the mission is still not accomplished, the remaining terrorists must be lurking around the swimming pool, or on the
balcony over the pool. That's all.
Crimson Hook
Pilar, Argentina
2006.05.17-0500
Preferred ROE: Assault; Infiltrate
Objective(s): Neutralize All Terrorists
Rescue all three hostages
Tangos: 22
DAMN IT!!! I'm writing this mission's walkthru for a second time! I had completed the walkthru for "Crimson Hook" and "Stone Cannon"
and after that my Windows98SE was fucked up when I tried to install "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3"!!! Damn, the setup deleted my
system.ini and I didn't want to waste time compliling a new one, so I restored the partition from my Norton Ghost backup, which
was 9 days old. But I forgot that the walkthru file was on the destination partition and I accidentaly overwrote the last version.
The one in Ghost's backup was old, so now I have to start back from "Crimson Hook"! Damn!
I'm telling you all this, because I need to express my disappointments with my own serious self! Damn, I had to guess that
restoring the backup would overwrite my documents, it's so simple!!! But, anyway, I'll try to do the walkthru for these 2 missions
even better than before. So, let's start it up (again)!
"Crimson Hook" is a nasty mission. There are 3 hostages, just like in "Falcon Hour", only this time the rescue will be a little more
difficult. What I'm talking about is that you can reach the first hostage perfectly unspotted, with teams in perfect health and still
screw up the mission in just 2 seconds. This is because there are many terrorists around the hostages and very often the hostages die!
Sometimes the terrorists kill them, sometimes your own bullets will kill them. So you'll have to use not so powerful weapons, to be
sure that even if you accidentaly hit a hostage, he will stay alive. But there's a plus- terrorists aren't so dogged and determined to
kill hostages once they hear you (like in "Falcon Hour")- they will kill them only when they see you.
Relax and prepare for the mission. I know I told you that there are some nice "kill'em all"-style missions coming up, but they are
still far away and you'll have to live with it.
Enough bullshit, I guess. Let's get moving. The correct uniform colour is black. The team layout is 2 teams, use the default waypoints.
What you need to master in order to complete this mission with no casualties is quick takedown and good observation. The areas are dark
and there are terrorists lurking around, so you must know exactly what you're going to do. We'll use 2 assault teams. I think this
mission can't be accomplished with less than 2 teams. If anyone can do it, please mail me.
The teams:
You can equip Price and Noronha with Masks, Gas for Price, Flashbang for Noronha. This way you can try one nice tactic, listed below.
Give them all a combination of silenced USPs and Mk.23s, loaded with JHPs. Load one or two of them with FMJs, just in case. All the
other weapons loaded with FMJ. Heavy armour for everyone, only Chavez goes with medium, he needs to be quick!
Watch the cool movie and then prepare for some serious action- the mission is about 9 minutes long.
Start with Raymond, for her AUG, ROE: Assault. Stay calm, the hostages are too far away for now. And remember, even the AUG is a loud
weapon, once you switch ROE to "Infiltrate", she won't fire.
So, go forward and enter the door to the left, then proceed right to a doorway- don't lob any smoke. GREEN team waiting for ALpha. Well,
just stay in the doorway. This is a hot spot. There are about 3-4 tangos in the big hall- beware of those behind the window ahead, and
be careful with these coming up thru the door far ahead of you. Sometimes enemies will duck left or right of the doorway where you are
and wait for you to shoot you in the back.
After you clear the hall, get moving to the left, enter the door, leading to the laundry room. Here- 2 more tangos. Usually, they will
be hiding between the lockers, so kill them. One of them using a shotgun- if you're with heavy armour, it won't hurt you even if he
shoots you point blank (well, if he blasts your face, you're dead). If you want, you can check the 2 small rooms with the wasing machines.
Usually they should be vacant, but sometimes tangos hide there and pretend to shoot you from the back. But almost always checking these
rooms wastes time. Exit back to the big hall and enter the door ahead I told you about before (past the windowed room). It leads to a
small room with a lifting car (sorry, I forgot the exact word). There might be another 2 enemies in this room- be nimble. Then go forward
and leave Murad and Chavez guarding forward, the big room to the left. Go right and turn left- be extra careful! There are about 2 tangos-
one behind a window, another one in front of the window, under it. Shoot them! Sometimes the enemy behind the window might stick to the
wall to your left, using it for cover. Don't get spanked, it's very simple- just do it quickly. You can use the AUG's scope here.
If you can't do it this way, kill only the one under the window with Raymond, go back to the corridor, past Chavez and Murad and before
the door, turn right, killing the enemy from the back.
After killing the bitches, go right to the double doors and open the right one- move left, looking to the right- there might be a
tango behind the counter. Get back to where you left Chavez&Murad. Get them following you and move forward to a door. Before opening
it, issue Alpha for the GREEN team to get moving. A good idea is to switch to Novikov and change GREEN team's ROE to "Infiltrate".
Then switch back to Chavez and switch RED team's ROE also to "Infiltrate". Open the door and shoot the terrorists to the left- they
might try to hide between some boxes, but if you do it quickly enough, it should be easy. After that place Murad&Raymond to guard
the grey double doors to the right of the lifting car (one of them will be watching the door you all came from, I like this nice
cooperation!). Hide Chavez under the lifting car's load and lock on the area ahead. Keep waiting until the GREEN team reaches its
Bravo waypoint. Wait for them a little more (there is a tango they should take down). Then issue Bravo and enter the double doors,
Murad&Raymond with you. Open the next pair of doors and quickly check your leftside. Make sure ROE are "Infiltrate" for both teams.
You'll see some stairs in front of you- climb up, but with your back upwards. The goal is to take out any possible tangos hiding
up there, behind you, sniping on the stairs. Then get to your Charlie waypoint and prepare to get rocked.
Switch to the GREEN team and reach their Charlie waypoint (Here's something OPTIONAL to do with the GREEN team. Before climbing the
stairs to your Charlie waypoint, you can open the red double doors to the left of those stairs- you're in the area under the hostages.
Kill all terrorists down here, don't go up and use silenced weapons! The chance to fuck up the whole mission is big, and if you let any
enemy live, he'll go up and shoot the hostage. So better not do that). Now, concentrate. In front of each team, there's a different corridor.
GREEN team's corridor leads to 2 doors to the right (the left door doesn't play any role, forget it). RED team's corridor leads
to a single door. Well, depending on which team you want to use, there are a couple of ways to handle the situation. The hostages
are in the rooms ahead. The first time I was playing this mission, I could FEEL that the hostages are close, without knowing that
they are close. OK, here are the 2 different ways to rescue the hostages.
Solution no.1. With Price, concentrate on the corridor ahead. The 2 doors to your right- let's call the distant door "door2" and the
closer door- "door1". Door1 leads to 2 tangos, while door2 leads to a hostage and a tango. The room behind door1 has a window,
showing the other hostage, the room behind door2 also has a window. OK, here's your choice problem. What seems best to do is tell your
teammates to open&clear door2 on Zulu, then issue Charlie, then issue Zulu and immediately open door1 and shoot everything that moves.
Here the synchronization is a must, because if you open door1 and kill the tangos, those ahead will kill their hostage. So what you need
to do is open&clear door1 at the same time when RED team opens their door and secures the other hostage. It's kinda tricky, but once
mastered, it's a great tactic. Another thing is to let your team handle door1 and you open&clear door2. However, doing the other thing is better.
Well, of you choose door2 for yourself, when opening it, very quickly shoot to the right, because the tango there has his gun point blank
to the hostage! Then shoot those outside, if they aren't already killed by the RED team.
Solution no.2. This is the easier way, I suppose. I strongly recommend you that you choose this one- trust me. First I accomplished
the mission with solution no.1, but after trying to use it again, I found that it wasn't the best solution, so I invented this one.
Use the RED team. Switch to Chavez and go to the door at the end of the corridor. Don't open it yet! Check if the GREEN team is ready
to receive the Charlie go-code. Issue Charlie and open the door, there's the hostage ahead, surrounded by tangos. Don't go forward,
stay next to the door. Kill them all and be EXTREMELY CAREFUL not to kill the hostage while shooting the tangos (GREEN team working
in the rooms to the left). Once you get rid of those closest to the hostage, check ahead, to the left. Then move A LITTLE forward
and turn right, facing some stairs. Be careful with enemies, if any. Also, take care of the 1st floor, below, there can be some
terrorists there! The key here is perfect observation, you must be aware of every tango's location. The hot spot is the 1st floor
and the stairs. The main idea is: kill the enemies ahead first (quickly) and then take care of those below on the 1st floor and
on the stairs, if any.
OK, when ready, switch to Price and proceed with the waypoints, the way is thru the "left door" I told you to ignore (RED team also moving).
Go until you reach the staircase before your Alpha waypoint. Here are the next 2 solutions for rescuing the last hostage.
Solution no.1. Use the RED team. Slowly reach your Alpha waypoint and stay a little away, to remain unspotted. Throw a gas grenade
(flashbang also works well, if thrown at the right place- 2 m away from the hostage) and issue Alpha, then go forward and engage on
the enemies. First kill those around the hostage, then turn to the left and finish the remaining ones. The problem here is that
sometimes those on the left might shoot you while you're dealing with those around the hostage. And, another problem, once you throw
the grenade, those around the hostage might execute him. So better try the other solution.
Solution no.2. This is the simplest one! Use Price and his flashbang! You don't even need to do anything but lob a flashbang!
OK, what's the deal? You're on the stairs, right. Move a little forward, so you can see an opening in the wall, to your left, at
the end of the stairs. Check if RED team is ready to receive Alpha. Then throw a flahbang right thru the opening and immediately
issue Alpha. Then, if you want, you can go forward and shoot them together with the RED team. But I think that the RED team can
do the job on their own. If you want to experiment, you can try equipping your GREEN team with Gas+Masks and throwing Gas grenades
instead of flashbangs. But I still think that flashbang is the right tool to do the job. On the other hand, isn't it really cool
to shoot the tangos in the head while they are coughing their own lungs out? This is a Russian technique- they used it in the
theatre-accident (1st quarter of 2003, if I remember right) with the hostage situation.
That's it! You've done it again! "Excellent job! Difficult circumstances."
Stone Cannon
Porto de Alegre, Brazil
2006.06.10-0500
Preferred ROE: Assault; Infiltrate as well
Objective(s): Neutralize All Terrorists
Tangos: 34 (Sometimes 35?)
This mission is rather entertaining, but difficult. It's just "kill'em all!", but there are many terrorists and the areas are very
dangerous- boxes, ambush points, overlooking balconies, stairs, small rooms. You can accomplish it in many different ways. But
doing so with no casualties is quite a trick. You mustn't rely on luck! What you need is perfect team work! You'll be forced to
use operative-switching a lot. The key is always to leave someone guarding the way you just came from. This is vital for the
mission's success- never leave your back without someone from the team watching it.
You will be using the default plan, but with modified operatives and equipment. Although you won't be going the same route as in
the default plan, the last part of the mission requires its waypoints. You'll have either to arrange your own plan, or use the
"next waypoint" key to skip waypoints until you reach the one you need.
Also, there are is one major problem- silenced or loud weapons? I strongly recommend you that you use silenced weapons!!! Stealth
is great when against many tangos. Well, loud weapons are very powerful, I agree, but once you fire a loud FAL, for example, there
will be tons of tangos coming up from everywhere. So better be patient and kill them one by one, instead of getting killed in a
massive crossfire.
I have 2 versions of team layout, one for silenced weapons and one for loud weapons. The walkthru, however, is best for silenced
weapons, if you choose loud, be warned that there will be some problems with tangos closing on you whenever you fire.
The uniform colour is Euro/Euro Camo. All operatives will be equipped with heavy armour, because we don't have the right to make
mistakes. There are many enemies, and they are very well-armed. So get ready for retries.
I use 3 teams- 2 assault teams and 1 sniper team, because there's a nice open area, where I can use my favourite thermal scope
to pop some brains from a safe distance. But a sniper always has to have a good assault specialist as a backup guy. So we're
going to group Weber and Price again.
SILENCED WEAPONS:
RED: Chavez (MP5SD5+Scope, Flashbang, Gas Mask), Murad (FAL+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Raymond (AUG, Tear Gas+Mask)
GREEN: Walther (M14+Silencer, Tear Gas+Mask), Noronha (MP5SD5+Scope, Flashbang, Gas Mask)
GOLD: Price (FAL+Silencer, Flashbang, Smoke Grenade), Weber (Barrett M82A1+Thermal, HB Sensor, Primary Mags)
Again, I advise you to use this layout. Loud weapons are cool, but dangerous. Better play stealth. Use Price's smoke grenade
to aid Dieter's sniping. And if you're disgusted with the idea of Raymond carrying an AUG while Chavez and Murad sticking to
their silenced MP5s and FALs, then give her a silenced UMP.45". Also, equip them all with neat pistols. A mix of silenced
Mk.23s and USPs, all loaded with FMJ will be a nice solution.
LOUD WEAPONS:
RED: Chavez (M14+Scope, Frag, Gas Mask), Murad (FAL+Scope, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Raymond (AUG, Tear Gas+Mask)
GREEN: Walther (FAMAS+Scope, Tear Gas+Mask), Noronha (AUG, Flashbang, Gas Mask)
GOLD: Price (FAL+Scope, Flashbang, Frag), Weber (Barrett M82A1+Thermal, HB Sensor, Primary Mags)
This is just an example. You can give them any loud weapon you like, an AK-47 or a M16A2, or a M4- they all are nice weapons,
but I think that FALs and M14s are the most accurate and powerful rifles, so stick to them. AUG is also nice, because the scope
is integrated. H&K G36 is another good idea, just like the FAMAS G2. IMI Galil is quite a powerful and fast-firing weapon. Give them
powerful sidearms, in case they go out of ammo, which sounds impossible. I think that SR-2s with armour-piercing 9x21 mm Gyrza bullets
(I know the game tells 9x21 FMJ, but in real-life the 9x21 mm Russian Gyurza/Vector ammo was designed for armour-piercing use) and
.50"-cal Desert Eagles should be the best choice. Here's another dilemma- Flashbang or Frag? No doubt for me, the flashbang is the
better choice. Why? First, its noise is less than the frag grenade (terrorists sometimes kill hostages when they hear a frag grenade
exploding). And, second, which is more important, if you don't aim your frag grenade well, it will just explode without causing damage-
the enemies will run away if they see it on time. But if it is a flashbang, even if you don't aim it well, it will give off a crack and
a flash. They will stun the enemy from a distance. That's why I'd prefer flashbang grenades to frag grenades. Because flashbangs are
more useful!
Again, this walkthru works best with teams, equipped with silenced weapons. It should be good for loud weapons choice also, but it's
designed exactly for silenced ones. So if you screw up the mission with loud M4s, don't blame me, just switch to MP5SD5s. Also, I won't
tell you to switch ROE this time, because most of the time I was using Assault+silenced weapons.
OK, you've been warned. Start with Walther and immediately issue "all hold", but have Noronha following you. Move a little forward and
check what you see ahead- a car, stairs, a window and a door next to it. Shoot the tango on the stairs, then the one behind the window.
If you're using auto-aim, the way to make the computer aid your shot is to shoot right from the corner where you start.
After taking out those 2 bitches, go slowly forward, take a glance to the right, up there might be a sniper. Be careful with the area
around the car- possible tango encounter. Another hot spot is the door up there- while approaching, keep an eye on it. After you get
near the stairs, leave Noronha guarding the door right (down, on the ground). Climb up the stairs and get to the door, don't open it.
You can do a couple of interesting things now. My favourite tactic is to throw a gas grenade thru the small window above the door,
then crouch in front of it and start fluid-opening it. With every move of the door be ready to shoot the 4-5 tangos inside. Some
nasty problems with this tactic are: sometimes the door is opened before you get the chance to throw grenades and sometimes enemies
will open it after you throw the grenade and you won't be able to fluid-open it. Fluid-opening gives you the advantage of looking into
the room in a small angle, so you're a small target. Well, if the door is opened, be careful and plunk all the 4 or 5 tangos inside
before they plunk you! (Another idea when the door is opened is to throw a gas grenade far ahead, using the stairs for cover, crouching).
After that look to the right wall- you'll see 2 doors- a locked one and one unlocked (sometimes the locked door will open while you're
clearing the room and 1 tango will come out). OK, go to the unlocked door and open it, quickly shooting any enemies inside (often only 1).
Then secure the area, don't waste time with the locked door, but backtrack to the hall thru the unlocked door. While doing all this,
remember to be aware that terrorists might come to you from the other doors in the hall. But this happens rarely.
When you're back in the hall- notice the fridge and the door right of it. Open it and you're in a corridor. Open the door to the right and
turn left quickly- possible ambush, behind a wooden barricade. Then point the door ahead&right of the barricade and tell Noronha to
open&clear on Zulu. Return to the hall. Note that sometimes while you're moving thru the small corridor, a tangos might come to you from
the left of the fridge, be careful.
Wait for Noronha in the hall, looking to the door left of the fridge. When Noronha is ready to receive Zulu, go back to the stairs just to
check if someone is trying to catch you both off-guard. Close the doors and get to the corridor (if the door to the left of the fridge is
opened and you have killed the tango inside, don't waste your time reading all this, ;-)). Look at the end of the corridor and go to the
door there. Issue Zulu and open it. Possible tango encounter to the right.
Now, look forward to the wall- there are 2 doors on the wall ahead and 1 door close to them, on the wall to your right. Leave Noronha
watching your back and open that door to the right, quickly killing any possible "threats". Just don't go forward when opening the door,
trust me (well, if you're stupid enough to go forward after opening the very door, then shoot the rascal down to the right, near the car).
Now tell Noronha to open&clear the right door on the wall with the 2 doors (on Zulu) and you'll be opening&clearing the left one.
Open the left door, crouching, and issue Zulu while opening it. After it's opened, quickly check the ledges ahead, then check the first
floor with the boxes. Beware of the windows, don't move, just stay in one place, this place should be the door you've just opened. Noronha
also on his door. Leave these two lions (hahahaha) guarding the area below. Switch to Price and I hope you have silenced weapons.
Issue "team hold" and slowly and quietly move a little forward. With your trusty silenced FAL shoot the bitch on the balcony above, then
shoot the terrorist to the left, who is maintaining his car. A nasty clear shot from the back- isn't that cute? Now, enter the door under
the balcony and go left, away from the stairs. Open the door and secure the area behind the lockers- there might be a tango hiding!
"Be quick or be dead!" Then open the next door, crouch. Quickly shoot the bastard in the armchair- if you do it from outside, thru the
window, you'll be rewarded with the sight of another cool nasty shot from the back. Don't enter the room, just move right thru the
corridor and open the next door. Look thru the window. If you've done everything quietly, then a tango should be outside the window, with
his back to it. You need a sharp angle to spot him. Kill him thru the window, then go all the way back to Weber and leave him guarding the
door under the balcony. Then proceed to the dark area ahead, to the left of the car, where you killed the poor bastard. Remember to take a
glance to the right, to prevent someone killing you from the distance. Follow the dark path and don't enter any doors, just move forward,
dispatching any possible tangos (often only 1 lurks "alone in the dark"). After you're outside, turn to the right and you'll see a fence.
Zoom and you'll see a terrorist with his back to a car, looking at you- don't worry, he can't see you. This is another nasty stealth shot-
send him a single bullet between the fence's wooden boards! After that go back to Weber and enter the door again, then continue to the room
where I told you to shoot the tango thru the window. Open the door and secure the open area to the left- be extra careful with all those
trucks, tents and explosive barrels. Don't shoot the barrels for now, you'll have to use them later to attract attention. Well, the best idea
is to stay near the corner to the recycle bin and cover the area ahead, ready to greet any upcoming tangos. They will come either from the
left, near the truck, or from far ahead. After you're done, go back to the stairs near Weber and climb up. Open the door at the end of the
stairs and be ready to dispatch 2 more bastards, often hiding to the left. If you want, you can go forward and open the door to the right to
check this small corridor. Then backtrack to Weber. Again go to the dark corridor, but this time enter the door ahead, leading to the hall
with the boxes, under Walther and Noronha. Secure the area around the boxes and be careful with all these doors. If the door to the right
is opened, showing a big hangar, don't enter, but shoot everyone you can see from this angle, then close it. See the other two doors,
open the leftmost, there might be a tango in a room with a TV. Go back to the hall, open the other door, leading to a long corridor. Go
slowly and quietly forward, open the second door to the left and quickly shoot the terrorist to the left. Then concentrate on the room
ahead. You should be in the corridor, looking forward to the room ahead and the other corridor to the right. Move a little to the right,
but beware of the corridor. Your goal is to shoot the two tangos in the room ahead. Then take a glance to the corridor to the right. Leave
Price guarding the junction area and switch to Chavez.
With Chavez, move forward, pass the car then the green jeep and enter the door. Hey, this is the same place where Price was killing those
tangos, isn't it? You're right, buddy. For now just move to the corridor and then to the corridor to the left. Leave Murad&Raymond guarding
the first door to the right, then prepare your gun and open&clear the first door to the left. There might be about 2 tangos inside, and
sometimes they are one behind another, so you will have to shoot at least 10 bullets to kill them (killing the second thru the first's body).
Enter that room and proceed to the right, opening another door. Be sure that everything's clear and get ready for the final showdown!
The remaining tangos are in the two connected big hangars. Your goal is to kill them all. It's kinda difficult, because they are hiding
between some boxes, they are on top of some wooden structures, etc. There are many ways to accomplish the mission, but I'm going to give you
a short description of some of them.
The main idea is to attack the hangars from 3 different places- with RED team from the first right door of their corridor (the default plan
suggests using another entrance, but over it there's a tango, so choose the one I'm talking about), with GREEN team from the 2nd floor, going
down the stairs and shooting to the left and with GOLD team sniping their asses out from outside. If you haven't given an Alpha waypoint for
each team, then you'll have to use operative switching A LOT! So better take some time and compose a good plan with Alpha go-codes for 2
entrances for RED and GREEN and a snipe-until-Bravo waypoint for the GOLD team. If you haven't reached the go-code waypoints with all teams,
use the "next waypoint" key to skip some waypoints and reach the needed one.
Solution no.1. Use Dieter Weber to kill as many as you can from a safe distance. What you'll want to do is place Price against the second
truck's cabin, so he can prevent any surprises (the second truck is the one with the cabin to the left corner of the house, the cabin pointing
to the window of the room with the tango in the armchair). Place Weber away to the right, near the rightmost tent. You can lob a smoke grenade
to help him. If tangos are hiding, shoot all the explosive barrels to attract their attention. If you want, throw some flashbangs. However,
I think that the Barrett's loud shot itself is enough to make them show their ugly faces. Just be patient. After you're sure you can't kill
any more tangos with sniping, tell the other teams to go.
Solution no.2. Leave GOLD team sniping and use the GREEN team. Enter thru the door next to the windows (you can try killing some of them thru the
windows first). Go down the stairs, looking to the left. Be careful with tangos on top of the constructions. Make a circle around every obstacle,
then proceed to the next hangar, issue Alpha. RED team moving. Help them by securing high areas. This should be easy. If you want to make it
even more easy, stuff the whole hangar with gas grenades.
Solution no.3. Use the RED team. Issue Alpha and enter the door, look up and be careful with ambushes! Beware of tangos hiding above you.
Check areas around boxes. Throw flashbangs to distract enemies, but don't stun your own teammates! Gas grenades are also a good idea. If you
killed many tangos, but there are some hiding, use the HB sensor, or Weber's thermal scope. Don't get caught in a crossfire. The key this time
is to spot them before they spot you.
That's all, I hope. If you screw up in the end, don't get miserable, just remember what your mistake was. If a whole team gets spanked, don't
hurry to retry, but check why did they fuck up the mission. After a couple of retries, you'll master this mission. Congrats when done!
Shattered Glass
Buenos Aires, Argentina
2006.08.09-0900
Preferred ROE: N/A; one-man mission!
Objective(s): Avoid detection
Plant a bug in one of two phones
Plant a bug in the computer
Go to extraction zone
Tangos: N/A; you mustn't kill anybody!
You might get frustrated with the rules of this mission- no kills, no encounters, in contrast to the previous one. However, if you concentrate
and use the HB sensor as well as you can, then you'll win in a couple of retries. Important, the appropriate use of the HB sensor is a must for
this mission- if you haven't learned how to use this tool to your advantage from the previous missions, then I can't help you- you just have to
learn to use it. It's not so difficult, though, just remember that it tracks heartbeats up to 15 m. If the enemy is far away, it won't detect
him. And, it's a little tricky to find out where exactly the tango is. You'll have to look in a small angle, to imagine where he's standing. But,
practice makes perfect! An untraditional (and usually useless) idea is to bring a sniper rifle (no matter which one), equipped with a thermal
scope to spot tangos if there close to a door, or how they behave- are they scratching their noses, or crouching, trying to hear your steps?
Normally, you won't need this tool, but if the mission is too hard for you- feel free to use it. Another thing that helps you is flashbangs- if
you throw them, they won't see you, so you'll be able to run away. However, use flashbangs near the end, because after they retrieve their clear
vision, they will go and report what happened.
Gas grenades are better- lob one of them and once the tango starts coughing his lungs out, move past him- he won't notice you!
In fact, there are so many ways to win this single mission, that I can compose a whole walkthru only for this particular mission. I'll try to
give you a basic scheme- if something doesn't work, be creative! Innovation, that's why this mission is one of my favourite- there's a countless
number of ways to win!
OK, what's the deal? The correct uniform colour is black. Use light armour, because we need agility AND we don't need protection, since we're
not going to kill anybody. The game automatically selects Antonio Maldini, but I'd prefer Ayana Yacoby- check her stats, she's better with
electronics, has high stealth (although not as high as Maldini's), has high assault, she's smaller in size (however, the game won't show you the
difference in size- Domingo Chavez and Arkadi Novikov look the same from a distance, and Novikov is twice as big as Chavez) and, last, but not
least, she's more beautiful!
I advise you to select only 1 operative. Well, you can use 2, or even more, but better play extreme stealth! You can equip Ayana either with
electronic kit and a HB sensor, or with HB sensor and some gas grenades (never leave the sensor! If you choose gas grenades, be warned- you'll
have to cough in order to move, but the plus is that they won't see you), or HB sensor+flashbangs. Playing with gas is real fun, but playing with
Electronics kit and a HB sensor seems the best idea.
The best idea for this mission is "lack of hesitation"! Don't hesitate, or you will miss the opportunity! Once you think the guard isn't able to
see you, go! If you fail, memorize the mistake and don't repeat it! If not- congrats!
Let's not break the rules. Look below:
RED: Ayana Yacoby (No primary, H&K Mk.23 .45"ACP+Silencer, HB Sensor, Electronics Kit)
We don't need that Mk.23, but the game won't let you go without any weapons, so you'll have to take it. Plus, you can use it to distract attention
by shooting walls and windows. But, most of the time, you will find yourself using the HB sensor and no other tools.
Start and go left to the door, open it and go all the way down the stairs. When down, open the next door, pass the elevator to the right and go
thru the double doors to your left- now the hard part starts! Move to the left, crouching. Check the beats (I mean "scan for heartbeats") ahead.
Your goal is to climb up the stairs ahead. Be careful with the area to the right- they can see you thru the glass doors. The key is to catch them
from behind so they won't see you. Be careful with the small area to the left- after you pass the first glass doors, concentrate on the beat
ahead- it should be only one. While climbing the stairs, check if someone is on the other side of the wall to your right- if yes, then let him
go forward and follow him. Also- stick to the right wall! Or better wait in a safe place (maybe the stairs) and wait for him to get far away.
But if he isn't moving and is situated far right- move on! Go forward- you'll see glass double doors with fish etched. If there's a guard ahead,
wait crouching in the corner to the left- he'll come to you, but turn to the other side and bypass you. Immediately enter the double doors and
go behind the desk, bugging the laptop. Exit the room (check to the left, if suspicious beats occur, either wait, or quickly run up the stairs
ahead of you). Be careful while climbing the stairs ahead of you- keep to the right and notice that sweet little corner to the right at the end
of the stairs.
After the stairs- you're in a small corridor. Your next objective is to your left- a small door with no paintings. There's a wall ahead of you-
check the beat of the guard- if it's to the left, wait. He will get close to you. Don't stay in the small corridor, move a little backwards and
hide in the small corner to the right, just after the end of the stairs. You will be still able to see his beat thru the wall- wait for him to
get as right as possible, then quietly move left to the door, open it and close it immediately after that! This is a bedroom- go to the right,
there's the phone, on a desk. Plant the bug and get back to the door. Now the only thing what remains is to get away (I know that the game says
that there are 2 phones to be bugged, but you need to bug only 1. Fact is, I still don't know where's the other phone and I don't care!).
You have 2 ways of getting out- backtrack, or move on.
Solution no.1. I think backtracking to the start is easier. The main trick is to get out of the room you're in- the one with the phone. The problem
here is that the guard outside sometimes is moving with his face to the door, so the best way to get out is while he's moving right- if you're lucky,
you can follow him without getting heard. Or, wait for him to go far right and exit, then rush down the stairs to the right, calm! Just be patient,
because sometimes when going right, he will come back left and you might fuck up the good work you've done up to now. Another idea is to wait until
his beat disappears- this seems best. You can't mistake his beat, because if there are some other beats, they will be positioned either too up, or
too down. After you get out, go to the stairs from where you came and keep left while going down, then hide in the area between the wall and the
stairs. The goal is to move right and backtrack. Check for beats- if it's clean, go! If not, then either wait the screen to get empty of beats, or
wait for the guard to get moving back and follow him from a safe distance. But sometimes you won't see any beats, and when you continue, you'll bump
in a guard coming your way. Then wait for a beat to appear and when it gets far left, go! Sorry, you'll have to experiment to get it done. But I think
that waiting for them to get left is the best. Then go out and move forward, down the first stairs, go right (be careful with the glass door to you left).
Remember that once on the last stairs, you can't be seen from the back side (I hope). So if you want, wait a bit to check the room to your left, behind
the glass door- if there are no beats, go on! Once you see the elevator, you're done. Just climb up all the way back and you're done!!! If the mission
doesn't end once you exit the door- don't panic, just go to the fence ahead.
***OPTIONAL- There are extremely many ways to get out of this room- lob a gas grenade for the guard, or attract him with some shots and hide in the bath
to the right, then lob the gas or flash and exit while he's in the same room, coughing. Be creative! (Sounds like an ending line from some anarchist
guide, eh? ;-)))
Solution no.2. (Starting from the room with the phone) Use the techniques described above to exit this room, but don't go down the stairs you came from.
After the guard's beat disappears from your screen, quietly move to the right, turn left and look ahead- he's there, with your back to you! The goal is
to climb up the stairs to his left! Move a little right, so you can see only his beat, but not him, or wait on the corner. If his beat starts going left
or disappears- go! If he starts going back to you- go back to the phone room! The key here is to wait enough for him to go left- sometimes he will stop,
so be patient. Another idea- if he starts going back to you, hide in the room to the left, close the door, if you can. Wait, he still can go back! Fuckin'
asshole- why can't we just break his neck and tell his buddies that he fell off a ladder? Damn! Finally- go up the shitty stairs.
The stairs are leading to double doors. Here's the most terrible part of the whole mission- you have to open the doors and run thru the wide open area to
the left. There's 1 guard. You can do many things, I'll tell you some of them. You can wait for him to go to the right and/or disappear, then open and run
like crazy diagonally to the left- you have to reach a narrow corridor, leading to a ladder. If he doesn't see you once you get going, don't worry.
Another idea is to open one of the doors and watch him from the back- but this is dangerous. Yet another idea is to fluid open the door and toss him a
gas grenade, or a flashbang, them rush left. I told, there are many ways, experiment and you should find the best one. If you choose to open the door and
watch his back, then do it while he's to the right, not moving. When he starts moving forward, away, back to you, dash away! To the left, there's a door
and a small L-shaped concrete wall (actually 2 walls forming an L next to the door). The door leads to the corridor, which leads to the ladder. Phew!
Hey, it's another "Mission complete"! Congrats! There's another, quite challenging way to win this mission and it is, as you might have guessed, starting
from the end! That's right, instead of going all the stairs down from the start, go right of the door thru the narrow passage and climb down the ladder.
From now on, you're leading. I'm tired of this sick mission.
Lion Shadow
London, England
2006.09.23-1500
Preferred ROE: Infiltrate; Recon
Objective(s): Rescue all three hostages
Prevent destruction of financial records
Tangos: 30
Congratulations! You've reached the most difficult mission in the whole game! This is the last hostage-based mission in Raven Shield and they really
made it almost impossible. Although some people will tell you that other missions are harder, I won't agree, because in this mission you can fuck up
the thing in many ways. What you have to take care of in other missions is the enemy, some bombs, or hostages. In "Lion Shadow" there are so many
ways the enemies can win, that you will have to concentrate to the maximum! Let's see- in this mission, you can screw up the good work by:
-getting killed in a crossfire
-getting killed by a well-hidden sniper
-getting killed in an ambush
-letting a terrorist execute a hostage
-letting a terrorist destroy the financial records
What's nice is that you don't need to "neutralize all terrorists" in order to bring the mission to a successful end. However, doing so (killing them
all) is quite useful (and entertaining, though).
The first three are valid for almost each other mission, but in "Lion Shadow", it's extremely easy to die in this maze of rooms, corridors and
aristocratic furniture.
My personal TOP5 for the most difficult missions in the game is:
1. Lion Shadow
2. Whisper Blade
3. Steel Rose
4. Falcon Hour
5. Steel Cannon
Sometimes "Steel Rose" seems more difficult than "Whisper Blade", but I'm talking about completing the missions with no casualties and doing so
with "Steel Rose" is easier than with "Whisper Blade"- you'll understand later. Now, better focus on the current objective(s), hehehe.
I guess the correct uniform colour is black/black camo. We won't be using the default plan with 3 assault teams, but a plan involving 2 assault
teams and 1 sniper/assault team. So get ready to get rocked! Here's the team layout:
RED: Chavez (MP5SD5+Scope, Br. Charge, Gas Mask), Murad (FAL+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Raymond (UMP.45"ACP+Silencer, Tear Gas+Mask)
GREEN: Walther (M14+Silencer, Breaching Charge, Flashbang), Noronha (MP5SD5+Scope, HB Sensor, Breaching Charge)
GOLD: Novikov (MP5SD5+Scope, Tear Gas+Mask), Price (FAL+Silencer, Br. Charge, Gas Mask), Weber (Barrett M82A1+Thermal, HB Sensor, Primary Mags)
Give them all silenced Mk.23s and/or USPs. Equip all operatives with heavy armour, only Chavez and Price will go with medium, because they are
masterful and won't get shot easily.
Start with Novikov and issue "all hold", but have your team (Price and Weber) following you. You may not issue "all hold", because the GREEN
team has a Bravo-waypoint just in front of the main doors. RED team has an Alpha-waypoint in front of the side entrance. However, there's a
reason to issue "all hold"- you can place your men a better way. I'll tell you later, just issue "all hold" for now.
So, playing with Novikov, go right, past the red doubledecker. Make sure ROE are "RECON"! With your back to the doubledecker, snipe on the
windows ahead. Your goal is to take out the tango behind the second window. Don't worry, he's with his back to you and the only visible part
of his body is his head- he's staring at the monitor. This one is the most important terrorist on this level, because he's constantly checking
the security cameras thru the monitor. So don't waste your time anymore and kill him with a single clean shot from your scoped silenced MP5SD5!
Now, back to that "all hold" code from the start- its purpose is to keep all operatives in place while you're positioning those you need. Leave
Novikov, Price and Weber and switch to Chavez. Place his team facing the side entrance, but on the other side of the street- right next to the
backside of the doubledecker, so they are able to kill any tango, coming out thru the side entrance. Now switch back to Weber and leave your
team watching your back. Pick the .50"BMG Barrett M82A1 rifle (with the nice thermal scope) and very carefully proceed next to the wall. Slowly
approach the corner, but keep about 10 m distance away from it. Here's a little map to make it easy for you:

/////BE//////// | X | Legend:
// | | X- that's your 1st position; face to the wall of the bank
// | | //- bank's wall

Y- your 2nd position; read below
^- moving direction; strafe this way
OK, your goal is to take out the sniper on the balcony above the back entrance. But it's kinda difficult, because he's looking at your
direction. So you have to catch a good angle in order to shoot him in the shoulder. And he's wearing camo. That's why we have that .50"BMG
rifle with a thermal scope- we need to spot him no-prob and kill him with 1 shot. So while you're moving to the right, away from the corner,
facing it, scope on the trees. Once you see the rightmost small pillar of the balcony's railing, stop moving and turn the thermal scope on.
Then start slowly peeking right, so you're able to see the terrorist's shoulder without getting seen by him. Once you get his shining body on
the thermal scope, kill him! Listen carefully and if you don't hear "Tango down!" or something like that, then you need to shoot him again.
Be careful and patient and you should do it- just don't show yourself too much! After you're done, proceed to sniping position Y, facing the
back entrance. Call your team and switch to Novikov. Forget about things like accuracy and empty your clip in the doors ahead- the goal is
to open them and attract the tangos. Do it quickly! This one is kinda difficult, because if you're not quick enough, then tangos will come out
and shoot your teammates. Immediately switch to Weber and fire a shot, if they're hiding- the Barrett's loud noise should attract
them. (Alternative solution is to leave GOLD team sniping and use the RED team to enter from the side and trap the tangos is a crossfire)
Now, get ready, because they will start coming out! Use the thermal scope and greet every bastard with a shot to the head! Even if they
try to get you by coming thru the side entrance, they will get shot by the RED team. So after you kill about 5-6 or even more tangos, get
ready to secure the 1st floor with Novikov. Switch to him and enter thru the back entrance, heading to the right. Leave Price and Weber
watching your back.
From the small room with a PC and a desk lamp in it (and a plant nearby) go right thru the corridor. Walk, don't run and enter the open door to
your right- left there's an enemy guard- kill him! Do it quietly and quickly, don't get shot! Get back to the corridor and call your teammates.
Leave them guarding the corner ahead (the corner to the left just after the small room with the PC and the lamp). While doing this, beware of
the open door ahead, to the right of this damn corner. Enter and check left, then open the door to the right and check. Then go back to Weber
and Price and look ahead. You'll see a red-carpeted staircase to the left, a corridor ahead, after the staircase. The corridor is leading to
a locked door, forget it for now. Again to the left, after this corridor- you'll see a pillar and a small, round room with bars. Scope and
you'll a tango behind the bars- shoot him with a silenced weapon! Then get back to the corridor (the main one, where Weber and Price are) and
continue forward, to some more stairs. Be careful with rooms to the left- open them and be ready to fire while opening. Then enter the double
doors to you right and kill the enemy in this room- most of the time he's on the left. Back to the corridor, get to the stairs ahead and kill any
tango you see- just don't let them fire and warn their friends with the noise! Don't get out in the open areas, just stay near the stairs. When
you're done, go all the way back to Weber and Price. Leave the GOLD team near the corridor to the left (the one leading to the locked metal door)
with some of them facing the stairs at the end of the main corridor.
Now switch to Chavez. (! using RED team to clear the 1st floor while GOLD sniping is a wise tactic ! What you need to do is leave GOLD sniping where I
told you and switch to any RED operative. Enter the side entrance and check the left, then go right, until you reach the back entrance. Before that
kill the bastard behind the bars and beware of tangos coming down the stairs) So, with Chavez, enter the side entrance (if you haven't
entered already). Check all the doors to the right. Don't worry, most of the time, they're empty. Then go to the left of the side entrance.
Then turn to the left and there are 2 small bathrooms and the computer room (where the most important tango WAS). Leave the RED team here, to
the left, facing the long way ahead, to the right- the passageway under/between the pillars in the centre hall.
Then switch to Walther and go to the main double doors, aiming high, to the right. Open the right door and your crosshair should be pointing
to the second-floor catwalk. There should be a tango, so drop him. Then open the left door and do the same if there are any tangos on the
left catwalk. If there aren't any tangos, very carefully go up the stairs to the right, leading to the 2nd level catwalk. Tell Noronha to
guard the area to the left from up there and concentrate on the doorway ahead. This is a hot spot!
First, move as left as possible (WITHOUT entering!) to check the right side of the area ahead of the doorway. Then start moving slowly to the
right (again, don't enter, just strafe), aiming to the left. There might be as much as 3-4 tangos to the leftmost, hiding, crouching. If you
move slowly, they won't notice you, so beware! Be quick or be dead- once you see a terrorist, do a double-click and he's gone! After those to
the leftmost are gone, enter the doorway, facing the balcony to the left- on the right side of the balcony, there might be some tangos. Here's
a scheme:
Balcony:
T=Tango
X-Shooting position 1 (face to the 2 Ts to the left)
Y-Shooting position 2 (face to the single T over the Y)
North

//
\ Stairs (awful ASCII art, isn't it?)
Be careful with the tango over the Y- he's very quick, if he spots you first, but if you just rush and shoot him, he won't be able to react so fast.
The best way to kill him is either quick appearance+shooting, or throwing a flashbang so you can blind him.
Leave the GREEN team at the doorway.
Now, use the RED team to go up the left stairs (I mean when you're entering thru the front main double doors, the staircase to your left). When up,
go a little left, and enter the room. Don't open the door! Instead, tell Murad&Chavez (you're Raymond) to open&clear on Zulu. Go out of this room and
enter the door ahead, then issue Zulu. Your goal is to kill all tangos in this room as quickly as possible! Extremely important is the tango on the PC
ahead from the door you entered. Beware of tangos to the left. If you want to ease this action, lob some flashbangs, or gas. Just be sure that the guy
on the desk with the PC is killed.
After the financial records' destruction is successfully prevented, it's time to clear the whole 2nd floor. How? Just switch to GOLD team and release
the "all hold" you issued at the start. It will take a long time for RED and GREEN teams to follow all they waypoints, but it's worth it, trust me.
If everything's OK, they shouldn't encounter any terrorists. (Anyway, sometimes things go to hell, so you might want to manually check all the rooms
around the room with the financial records)
So, with Price, blast the locked metal door at the end of the corridor with the breaching charges (don't worry, there aren't tangos here). Then blast
thru the next one and finally, turn right to the main hall to see the first hostage- the nice lady from the mission's intro movie. Escort her (follow
the waypoints) to the side entrance and to the hostage rescue area (it's on the opposite side of the street, opposite the purple? car behind the red
doubledecker, phew!).
If RED and GREEN are waiting for any go-code but Charlie, issue it for them to go (although if you skipped the waypoints while you were moving, you shouldn't
read this). Wait for RED and GREEN to reach their *FINAL* Charlie-waypoints. The final Charlie-waypoint for the RED team is a corridor with a locked steel
door ahead and a small window to the left and the final Charlie-waypoint for the GREEN team is a corridor (red-carpet?), with a fork to the right, don't go
right!
OK, here's the tough part. You have 2 options:
Solution no.1. Just switch to any GOLD operative and issue Charlie. Hope that RED and GREEN will do the job. I choose this 90% of the times. They should
be fine, if they are alive and healthy. And don't take that turn to the right with a GREEN operative, trust me! When you're using this solution, stick to
GOLD team members and don't switch to others. Just issue Charlie and wait for the outcome. Most of the times it should be "Mission successful"!
Important thing is to lock-pick the door ahead of the RED team before issuing Charlie, in case you haven't equipped them with breaching charges.
Solution no.2. Oh, damn, it's a tough one! Well, use the RED team. Terrorists can see you thru the window to the left and you can't kill them thru it,
because it's armoured. So you have to open the door ahead, but it's locked! It looks like there are a couple of ways to do it:
a. use a HB sensor to check when the guards are away, then lockpick the door
b. issue "team hold" for your team to stay away from the window, then go prone and crawl (sticking to the wall under the window) to the door. Lockpick it
or place a breaching charge (lockpicking seems wiser, because charges will give off some smoke, but to do anything, you have to stand up, so be quick or
be dead!). When ready, issue Charly and at the same time release the "team hold", open the door, turn left and start blasting the terrorists there- do it
quickly and quietly!!! The hostages are in the room to the right- don't let the tangos in there (if any) hear you and don't let tangos go into this room!
c. issue Charlie, after that immediately place a breaching charge, detonate it and go right, to the treasury- hope that the GREEN team is dealing with
tangos behind/left of you. Your goal is to neutralize the terrorists in the exchequer and rescue the 2 hostages there- to do so, throw a flashbang in the
treasury. Or, you can start with throwin the flashbang once you blow up the door, then kill the tangos to the left and finally kill those around the
hostages. Whatever you do, don't make mistakes and be quick!
Solution no.3. With the GREEN team, from their last Charlie-waypoint- just issue Charlie and rush forward to the right! Kill everyone ahead of you as
quickly as possible! (Beware of the door to the left before you go right!) Don't waste ammo trying to kill the enemies thru the glass ahead- it's armoured!
The goal is to kill all tangos before they get to the rightside (ahead from you; right from the glass) and execute a hostage. Don't be startled if an
explosion goes off- this is the RED team's breaching charge. When you reach the big exchequer, check the right wall- 2 hostages and possibly a tango.
To prevent hostages' execution, throw a flashbang in the treasury to blind any tangos, then blast them away. Mission successful!!!
Woooow, wipe off the sweat from your forehead, you just accomplished the most difficult mission in the whole game! Get ready for some pure "kill'em all"
missions! Damn, it's the only mission in the whole game, for which I had to use some cheats (tSurrender; tNoThreat) in order to test every idea for
rescuing the last 2 hostages. However, I'm proud that I had to do this only for the walkthru- I didn't use cheats while playing, only while composing this
document. The part of the walkthru for this mission took me about 5 days (!!!) to complete, so I hope it's useful for you.
Broken Stone
Pilar, Argentina
2006.11.11-1100
Preferred ROE: Assault/Infiltrate
Objective(s): Neutralize All terrorists
Prevent nerve agent dispersal
Tangos: 30
Well, well, well! Looks like Ubi Soft and Red Storm were tired with creating more and more different maps, so they decided to take us back to some of the
nastiest locations. Don't worry, Red Storm, don't worry, Ubi Soft, we're still grateful- all levels are great! But I still think that returning to same
areas is kinda boring. And, look at the date/time 11.11-1100! What's that? A hidden message?
Enough joking, this mission reminds me of "Stone Cannon"- you have to "neutralize all terrorists", no matter what happens. The difference is that you'll
have to be extremely careful with those yellow/orange barrels with the nerve agent inside- no shots, no grenades around them- got it?
Again, just like with "Stone Cannon", I'll advise you to choose silenced weapons. You know my reasons. If you don't, scroll back up to the beginning of
"Stone Cannon" to refresh your memories. And, this time, we're going to use 3 assault teams with no sniper team (*tear drop*; sob...).
The correct uniform colour is green camo. OK, here's the team layout:
Give them all heavy armour, it's gonna be a real butchery! Equip the teams with a mix of silenced Mk.23s, pure .357" or .50"-cal Desert Eagles and
SR-2s, so every team has silenced and loud weapons (e.g. add a loud DE.50"A.E. to a silenced FAL, or add a silenced Mk.23 to a loud AUG). Load pistols
with JHP bullets (for headshots), load the other weapons with FMJ rounds. I think we're ready to start.
Gas grenades won't help you much in this mission, because many of the terrorists are wearing gas mask. So use flashbangs and frag grenades a lot!
Also, terrorists will release the nerve agent whenever they hear you. I told you to give Raymond and Novikov AUGs, because you can use "Infiltrate" and
hope that they won't fire. But if you want complete stealth, then give them silenced UMPs or MP5/10A2s.
An important thing is that there are particular bastards, who will go and release the nerve agent. They are wearing gas masks, dressed in white. Try to
kill them first!
Start with Chavez and ROE: Infiltrate. Issue "all hold" and make Murad&Raymond follow you. Go right- to the red vans. When you get close to the 2 vans to
the left- check the space between them. Then scope on the van far ahead, so you're able to see under it- you'll notice the feet of about 1-2 tangos. Shoot
them and they will show up to the left (from the rear side of the van). Be careful if they split up and come quicklt from both the rear and the front side
of the vehicle. Kill them quickly and get ready for more of them- coming from the left, behind the van. Go forward and beware of the corner to the left.
Enter the double-doors ahead (before entering, check the area around the van). Proceed with the corridor and quickly turn to the left, engaging on the
crouching tangos.
Here comes a tricky move. You see the red double doors ahead- stay with your left shoulder to the left door, facing right. Open the right door and check,
don't enter. Then close the door and swap the shoulders- right shoulder, right door, facing left. Open the left door and check. When ready, enter the hall.
Be sure that you're moving quietly. Reach the Alpha-waypoint and stay quiet. Check the hall and don't go left. Just go back to the red double doors, close
them and stay in the room with the counter, containing meat. Switch to Price- you'll need the accuracy of his silenced FAL.
With Price and ROE: Infiltrate go to the door to the left and open it, don't enter! Be ready for a crossfire! First, check forward, then start turning
right. You have to kill about 2-3 tangos in this room, they are hiding around these metal things plus there's one sticking to the right wall. When ready,
go forward and to the right, to the doorway, leading to the big hall. Just like in "Crimson Hook"- kill everyone quietly. Possible hot spots are the window
ahead, the corner to the right and the corridor to the left, near the laundry. After you're done, check the laundry and get back to the big hall. Now,
move forward to the door after the windowed toom. Make sure ROE are "Infiltrate"! Enter the room with the battery-driven car and reach the Alpha waypoint.
(*If you want to kill some more tangos, switch to GREEN team and follow their waypoints thru the laundry, then up the stairs from where they started, then
down some stairs to the 1st floor until you reache their Charlie-waypoint. Leave them there.) Change ROE to "Assault".
So, with GOLD team release the "all hold", then issue Alpha and wait about 3-4 seconds for the RED team to start moving (GREEN waiting for Charlie). Then go
to the corridor ahead of you and turn left- the first 3 barrels with the nerve agent are there, guarded by tangos. This is a hard part- don't let the terrorist
with the white clothes get near the barrels- kill him first! And don't shoot the damn barrels!!! (The barrels are yellow, with a BioHazard/Îïàñíî sign on one
side). After you're done, change ROE to "Infiltrate" and enter the doors to the left of the barrels and secure the corridor- possible ambush point to the right.
Continue until you reach the Bravo-waypoint. Wait for RED team to reach their Bravo waypoint, too. Now, before issuing Bravo, quietly go left thru the corridor
to the red double doors with some boots nearby. Get ready for the second bunch of barrels!
Switch to Filatov for his scope and crouch near the right red door. Issue Bravo and open the door, scope and start shooting every terrorist who's trying to
get close to the barrels far ahead! Remember to stay a little away from the double doors, so you're more difficult target.
After the enemies are dead, still with the GOLD team, move left and go with the left wall. Beware of some possible hiding tangos ahead, around the boxes.
Continue until you reach the Charlie waypoint. Wait for GREEN and RED to reach their Charlie-waypoints, too (if you did what I told you earlier, GREEN team
is already waiting for Charlie). While waiting, stick to the right wall, so the bastards ahead can't see you.
Now, concentrate, because the last 3 barrels are here! When all teams are in place, waiting for Charlie, what to do? You have to kill all the bitches around
very quickly. From the GOLD team's Charlie- waypoint, the barrels are far right, near some stacked boxes. Here are the solutions:
Solution no.1. OK, let's move! Issue Charlie and go! Enter the big room and shoot the tangos to the right (they're about 1-3), be careful with enemies on
the stairs above to the right. Then turn left and kill the others. Move a little left and aim ahead and a little to the right- you'll see a door- possible
tango encounter. Check the whole area again and you should be done! Another mission successful!
Solution no.2. Switch to Murad and reach the final Charlie waypoint. Wait for the other teams to reach their Charlie waypoints, too. Then, issue Charlie
and turn right, rush forward and kill all tangos ahead on the catwalks and on the stairs. Don't worry, GREEN and GOLD are working down. You've done it
again!
Solution no.3. Use the GREEN team. Again, wait for the other two teams to reach their Charlie waypoints. Then, issue Charlie and rush forward thru the
corridor, don't move too forward, just keep shooting the tangos and kill the white one first, if you can. After a second, another bastard will come from
a door to the left- he's the last one. The hot spot here's ahead to the left- don't let the white bitch go there.
So, you accomplished another mission! "Broken Stone" is a nice mission, but sometimes terrorists overhear you, if you know what I mean. Anyway, once it's
over, it doesn't matter and you have to get ready for the next mission.
Briar Gate
Cayman Brac
2006.12.22-1710
Preferred ROE: Assault/Infiltrate
Objective(s): Neutralize All terrorists
Prevent destruction of evidence on Gospic's computer
Tangos: 29
Once you figure out how this mission is solved, it's a wuss. The main idea is to pick silenced weapons (again!). Otherwise, if the bitches hear you,
they will delete the files on Gospic's laptop. Another very important thing is that you should use the GREEN team to guard an area in the house. More
on this later. Now to tell you about the uniform colour- the correct one is tan/tan camo. And, first of all, get rid of these Steyr TMPs ASAP and pick
some nice MP5SD5s! Use the default plan with 2 assault teams of 3 operatives each. Here's the layout:
RED: Chavez (MP5SD5+Scope, Flashbang, Gas Mask), Murad (FAL+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Raymond (AUG, Tear Gas+Mask)
GREEN: Novikov (MP5/10A2+Silencer, HB Sensor, Flashbang), Price (FAL+Silencer, Breaching Charge, Gas Mask), Filatov (MP5SD5+Scope, Tear Gas+Mask)
Give them all heavy armour, leave only Price and Chavez with medium- I like them quick. Also, give the operatives a mix of loud Desert Eagles and
silenced Mk.23s. As always, load pistols with JHP, rifles and SMGs- with FMJ.
This mission is a breeze! 3 minutes from the start to the final shot (compared to the 15 minutes you needed for "Lion Shadow", it looks quite short).
The key to success is quick and stealth movement. Accurate shooting helps a lot. And don't let tangos fire! The others will hear and delete the damn
files on the laptop's HDD. While the mission is 3 minutes long, things can go to hell in a single second, so be perfect. Let's get moving.
Start with Murad, issue "all hold", ROE: Infiltrate. Move forward, aiming to the right- don't enter the area to the right, first zoom, if you need to,
and kill the bitch on the balcony above. Then move to the doorway to the right and start shooting the bastards around the table- they're about 3. Enter,
aiming to the right, to the swimming pool- sometimes there might be a tango, behind the window. Proceed to the stairs and climb up to the left, aiming
ahead to the doors. Move quietly and get to a window- possible tango encounter behind the window. Open&clear the door left. Wait a second if there are
tangos coming your way. Then get back to the balcony and go to the door near the stairs. (You can leave your teammates watching the other room to
prevent "backside surprises") Open&clear the door very quickly- there are 2 enemies around the pool table- one ahead and one to the left. Wait a second,
another one might open the door to the left. Call your team and open that door, you're in a corridor- look to the left, then go to the right. This is
a hot spot! Crouch!
What you have to do is kill as many as possible tangos. Stay at the corner, looking to the stairs. They will come from the stairs ahead. ROE: Infiltrate-
the laptop is close! And you can stand up and look down to the left (the piano room). Down there might be more tangos. After you're done (don't get too
noisy!), go back thru the corridor (NOT down the stairs ahead!). Open the door to enter another corridor and kill the enemy. Proceed to a door and open
it, then look down right- possible tango encounter on the stairs. Be sure that ROE are "Infiltrate" and go down the stairs. Open the door and clear the
room quietly! The 2 doors on the left wall- tell your teammates to open&clear any of them and open&clear the other one. Now, concentrate. The right door
on the left wall leads to another door (sometimes a tango enters thru this one). Tell your teammates to open&clear this door and you open&clear the
rightmost door. When you're done, RUSH to the door to the right, leading to the room with the laptop and kill the damn bastard! Something interesting-
tangos might hear you and they will delete the files, resulting in failed mission, but if you shoot the laptop, it's OK. Isn't this stupid?
OK, now comes the most complicated part of the whole mission. With the RED team, exit the laptop room and enter the piano room, facing right, aiming at
the stairs. (If you want, lob some gas in front of the staircase) Then, switch to Filatov. With the GREEN team, go to the double doors to the right of
the stairs, leading to the balcony (these double doors are close to the swimming pool). Open them and look left, don't go forward into the corridor!
Just stay there, so you can kill any upcoming tangos. Lob some gas. Terrorists will start showing up. Dangerous places include the door ahead and a little
to the right (leading to a garage) and a room to the right, you have to go forward, then turn around to enter. Also, sometimes enemies will come from the
corridor's corner far ahead to the left. When no more tangos are coming, leave the GREEN team where they are and switch to any RED operative. Go forward to
the room behind the stairs. Clear it, then secure the whole 1st floor! Just go thru the long corridor to the left, into the athletic centre, check every
single room. Leave GREEN team guarding the double doors left of the piano room, near the stairs. With the RED team, go down the stairs to the garage.
Look around the car, check the small laundry room to the right. Then, prepare for the final shootout. Open&clear the door ahead, but don't go forward.
Tangos to the left (sometimes, very rarely, to the right). You'll see a boat and a small passage. In the end of this passage is/are the final terrorist(s).
Before engaging on him/them, you might want to check the area to the right, often useless. Better concentrate on the area around the boat. You can either
show up and shoot them, or throw a flashbang, then kill them while they are wondering what the hell is going on. And it's another "WELL DONE"!!! Quite a
nice mission, wasn't it?
Talon Steel
Cayman Brac
2006.12.22-2330
Preferred ROE: Assault (and a little "Infiltrate")
Objective(s): Neutralize All terrorists
Tangos: 35 (Sometimes 36)
Damn, this mission is hard! Well, not so difficult like your previous visit to the airport, but still can make you cry over the monitor. The reason is that
there are too many tangos and they change their position. Just like with "Stone Cannon", I'll advise you to select silenced weapons. Another thing, similar
to "Stone Cannon"- there are plenty of ambush points and it's dark. But, you've already become familiar with the area, so this is a plus. The main hot spot
is the big hangar. Then, the whole "outside area". Then, the open area between the small buildings. If you know how to deal with these places, you should be
OK. There are many ways to accomplish this mission. So if my plan isn't working for you, feel free to experiment. I'm going to give you a little
untraditional plan. The default one requires 2 assault teams. My plan is designed for 2 assault teams and a sniper team (GOLD). Use the planning room to set
the sniper team's way- start from the insertion zone, then prepare a sniper point exactly where the extraction zone for the hostages was in the previous
mission on the airport. The sniping point should be covering the whole open area ahead, the alley with the trucks. After that, place the waypoints so they
move forward thru the open area, another snipe-point between some metal boxes, looking to the left, then continue left again, looking to the airplane.
Then again left, finish with a snipe-point under the stairs near the door the RED team first enters in the default plan. This last snipe-point should cover
the whole open area between the buildings. I'm sorry if I can explain it clear enough, just mail me to send you my plan, if you need to.
Well, the correct uniform colour is blue/blue camo. Here's the team layout:
Of course, you can modify the equipment, if you want. I strongly recommend using silenced weapons. Don't blame me for adding the loud AUGs, they have
their own purposes- to attract hiding tangos. Give them all a mix of powerful .50"-cal Desert Eagles and silenced Mk.23s (as always, mix AUGs with Mk.23s,
MP5SD5s with DEs). All ammo should be FMJ- the terrorists are well-armoured this time. Give your people heavy armour, even Chavez and Price should be
well-protected. However, if you're feeling lucky and nimble, give them medium armour. A funny thing is the mission's name- "Talon Steel", it reminds me
of some .44" Magnum ammo (if I remember right, it was a JHP .44" Magnum cartridge), called "Black Talon", but it was JHP, not steel-cored.
OK, let's get moving!
Start with Chavez and issue "all hold", ROE: Infiltrate. Go right, past the metal box (a vent-shaft, probably?). Enter the small room ahead, open the door
to the left, enter the room with the truck. Open&clear the door right, near the cabin of the truck. This small room holds a tango. Be quiet. Then, call
your team and exit the door ahead, it is on the left of the truck. It leads back outside. Be quick and quiet- kill the bitch to the right. Leave the RED
team here, guarding the small U-like area. Don't expose them on the alley! (!Well, to be honest, sometimes it's not a very good idea to leave the RED team
guarding, so better use Chavez to kill that one in the small room and leave them in the room with the truck)
Switch to Weber, ROE: Assault. Have your team following you. Go to where the extraction zone was in the first visit to this place. Go prone and start
sniping the bastards ahead, between, behind and around the trucks. Be patient, they will come up. While lying on the ground, check under the trucks to
kill them if they are hiding- 2 shots to the legs should do the trick. Keep sniping until there are no more terrorists coming. Make sure you do the next
task quickly!
Now comes a tricky part- you have to take out a distant sniper. He's far ahead, you won't see him without the thermal scope. So where do you need to go
in order to kill him from a safe distance? Issue "team hold", then stick your back to the left side of the first truck ahead, crouch and zoom ahead- you
should see him around some boxes (the best description for the place from where you kill him is "stick your back to the frontal left tire of the first
truck"). Then, call your team and proceed forward, beware of the door to the left (if you left the RED team guarding, you should be all right). The place
which you have to secure is the second door to your left- the door leading to the hangar. Enemies will start to come out of this door sooner or later. You
can either wait for them and snipe them, or tell Price and Novikov to guard this door. There's an ambulance parked near this entrance, right? And a couple
of explosive barrels, plus a vent-shaft. Tell them to stay between the vent-shaft and the ambulance, facing the door, with their backs to the barrels.
Then circle around the ambulance from the other side. You will see another ambulance. It will cover you from the wide open area. Your goal is to catch a
sharp angle to the door, so you'll be able to shoot the 2 hiding tangos far left in the hangar (just don't enter). The place from where you will kill them
is differed this way: "stick your back to the leftside of the ambulance, between its frontal left and rear left tire". Scope on the bitches, they won't see
you. One of them is above the other one.
Then, still playing with Weber, go slowly to the open area, to the corner to the left. Beware of remaining tangos where the sniper was. Now, turn left and
kill the tango ahead, near the boxes. Wait- more to come. When done, start strafing right, zooming on the coarpse of the sniper. Near it, around some boxes,
is another one. Send him a .50"-cal present, then move to his position. Look to the left and zoom on the nose of the airplane- there's a prone sniper! Take
him out with a couple of good shots to the legs (if he hides after you hit him first, don't worry, soon he will again show his legs). Now, start moving
slowly to him, zooming on the windows to the left, far ahead. Your goal is to kill the tango on the first window from the first row, first column. Move
until you see the left side of his torso and stop- he might see you. Don't use the thermal scope here, windows block heat. Kill him thru the window with a
single shot. Make sure that the wide open area is clear and call your teammates. When they get to you, leave the whole GOLD team sniping, covering the open
area under the windows.
Switch to RED team, Raymond, ROE: Assault. Get back into the room with the truck and climb up the stairs to the room where the first hostage was in the past.
Exit the door to the left and you'll come in a corridor. Here's another tricky part- we'll use Raymond's loud AUG to attract some tangos and salute them with
some 5,56 mm presents to the heads. Crouch, then open the door ahead. Don't rush- slowly start turning right. Notice the 2 vehicles (vans), then kill the
bitch to their right, in front of the door. Continue turning right- shoot any visible tango. Possible encounters include the balcony far ahead (especially
the area around the ladder) and the area down, to the right, some stairs and door there (and a truck). Sometimes the guy on the balcony might be coming from
straight forward, the right wing of the balcony, between the 2 buildings. Or, there might be 2 guys on the balcony- one to the right, one on the ladder.
A very nasty place is the staircase ahead, to the right, with a tree covering it- be extra careful with it. After killing the bastards, leave the RED team
on the stairs and switch to Walther.
With Walther and ROE: Assault, finally enter the door next to you and go to the ladder ahead- secure the area once again and move quietly between the two
buildings, beware of the windows to the left. At the end, turn left and enter. Be quick or be dead- 1 tango to the left, 2 ahead. Like in the past, check
the stairs to the left. Then back down. Tell Noronha to open&clear the door ahead on Zulu. Prepare to open&clear the one to the left. Open it and issue Zulu.
Then continue forward thru the hall. Beware of tangos in the corridor to the left and from tangos in the area far ahead, right. Keep moving forward until
you reach the door, leading outside- don't exit, go back thru the corridor to a door. Enter and secure the room, exit to another corridor and check the right,
go there, to another room, check the left side. Then go to the stairs and check the whole 2nd floor, but it should be safe.
Now, go all the way back to the other building and enter the door under the windows. Proceed with the corridor and before entering the room to the left,
better check it with a HB sensor. Then leave Noronha guarding the door to the hangar and go up the stairs in the end of the corridor. Check the left side,
then move right, carefully. Don't enter the doors to the right, just go to the end, turn right and open the door. Check the hangar thru the window. Then
turn left and kill the bastardous sniper far ahead. Now look down, around the plane. Endless possibilities- lob flashbangs, use gas, just shoot, you can
do anything, just don't get killed. Or, if you want, go back down and enter the door Noronha is guarding. A corridor- which way to take? I almost always
go to the right. But if you want to risk, tell Noronha to open&clear the left door and you open&clear the right one- the terrorists are there, a little left,
behind some greenish boxes. All you have to do is kill them and the mission is over! At last!!! Now we're ready for the last 2 missions! And they are in new
places, not old ones. Sit back and relax.
Whisper Blade
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
2007.02.04-1100
Preferred ROE: Assault (and no "Infiltrate"!)
Objective(s): Neutralize All terrorists
Capture Gutierrez
Tangos: 47 (including Gutierrez)
I have no good news for you, only bad! This mission is the second most difficult mission in the whole game. The environment is perplexing, with lots of
doors and rooms, windows and with many terrorists, who are armed with very good weapons. So prepare to use all your skills! You have to be quick, accurate
and concentrated. Prepare for many retries, prepare to lose operatives. Whatever you do, don't lose more than 2 agents!
This mission is nasty! You can get trapped in a crossfire very easily. If a terrorist is in the right place, he can kill almost the whole team! And, this
time enemies will try to run away and hide, waiting for you to get on their crosshairs. Silenced weapons won't help you much, because the bastards are
wearing armour and there are many windows (silenced weapons don't have enough power to kill thru windows with 1 shot). On the other hand, once the bitches
hear gunfire, they will start coming to you in great numbers. You're the weaker one. This mission is suicidal, trust me! It took me about 3 days to make up
a plan for this walkthru. The truth is, there's no plan for this mission, because there are many ways to complete it. And things can fuck up every time in a
different way. But, I'll try to give you a route for the teams. And forget about my favourite sentences: "Now, concentrate.". There's no "now"! You must be
concentrated all the time!
The best strategy seems to be the "2 assault team"-solution. I found out that the mission can be accomplished with 3 assault teams with less operatives
(the default plan suggests 2 teams of 4 operatives), but it's a little more difficult.
Well, we're going to use the default plan, because I can't describe exactly the 3-rd team's route. Prepare for some tough action! Here's the team layout:
Damn, this was a tough one! I spent days trying to figure out the best equipment! At the end I still don't know. But I think that powerful loud weapons with
some silenced MP5s should do the trick. Various grenades are a must-have (I'd prefer flashbangs to frag grenades- if you don't kill the bastard with a frag
grenade, he will just run away, but even if you don't aim your flashbang well, it will still blind him!). Breaching charges for blowing up doors and
HB sensors, of course (although most of the time you won't want to get vulnerable by holding a sensor, instead of your gun). Plus gas grenades to ease the
whole process of taking out all tangos.
Something interesting is that the game loads euro camo clothes, but I have found that black camo works better. Maybe this is only for my version of the game,
but I'll still tell you to pick black camo. And, heavy armour for all of them, this goes without saying- you can't neglect 47 terrorists, can you?
Give them powerful Desert Eagle .50" A.E. pistols, in case they run out of ammo.
My final recommendations- always be aware of the possible shooting places (I mean that you should know from where the bitches can shoot you, for example,
thru a window). And never rush in a firefight- try to take them out from a safe position.
"The clock's ticking. Let's move!" "Remember, take Gutierrez alive!"
Start with Chavez and proceed carefully forward, looking to the left. Here's a hard part- there's a tango near a garbage container behind you, thru a fence.
Here's a scheme.
D2 T= Tango
T |_c_| | D1, D2- doors
D1 | 0= recycle bin
__________ ___0 T| c= garbage container
fence fence
What you want to do is reach the end of the first part of the fence, don't enter the area, turn left and shoot the tango near the container. Be careful with
D1- it might open! Immediately turn right and move a little, so you're able to kill the other terrorist behind the recycle bin. Then check D1, don't enter!
(Of course, if D1 opens after the first tango's dead, you'll have to kill the enemy coming out of the door before taking on the one behind the recycle bin)
Issue "all hold", leave your team outside, trust me.
Now, go to D2, open&clear. Stay in the small corridor and scope on the area far left- kill the guy. Then prepare for some heavy fire! (Sometimes there will
be more than 1 tango visible and they might spot you, so be quick or be dead! Sorry- I can do nothing to help you, except to tell you where to aim- you have
to be quick!)
OK, terrorists will start trying to get close to you- they will come from this big room to the left and from the rooms to the right. Stay in one place and
wait for them! After you're sure there are no more, turn left and kill the tango, hiding left of you, he's sticking to the wall of the corridor you're in.
You have to kill about 8-12 enemies (again sorry, sometimes there will be more, sometimes less- they will hide, or engage on you). After you're done, call
your team, but still stay in this small corridor, looking left (to be precise, I mean stay in the corridor you enter from D2, not the other one next to it!).
Switch to Noronha (RED team staying where I told you). Prepare for quick action! Enter D1 and turn right and kill the enemies very quickly!!! One of them
almost always is hiding in the toilet ahead of you. Don't go too forward, just reach the end of the small corridor, then turn right and check. Then turn
left and move to the corner, kill the sniping tango thru the small doorways, he's behind a car. Wait a bit for another one. Then tell your teammates to stay
in front of the small doorway, guarding this car. Don't go to it! Enter the door to the right, behind your teammates.
Here's another hard part! Stay in front of this door, possible tango encounter far ahead to the distant door. The main hot spot is the big hall with the cars
to your left. Be extremely careful with the window and the door to the left. You gotta be quick! There are tangos hiding betweem the iron parts and cars in
the big hall. Take them out. You have 2 options: the door and the window. The window is the better one for me, just keep looking left (relax, RED team's
guarding the far entrance to the right)
When you're done, go into the big hall and proceed left to the greenish car where a tango was (your teammates are guarding this car). You'll see a doorway
near this car- there's a terrorist there, to the left, in front of double doors to the left. You need a sharp angle to take him out without getting shot-
move right (so your shoulder kisses the wall) and kill him. Then enter the doorway and pause. Call your teammates. Enter the left double doors, be careful.
This is a room where the cars are being washed. There's a greenish car in there (is this an Audi A6?). There are three smaller rooms with no doors in the
car-washing room. Sometimes the leftmost one holds a bitch, so check it. Then open the white door to the right and check the corridor- don't go any further!
Go all the way back thru the double doors and get to the door ahead, open it. Now you're in a small room with 2 double doors. This is another hard part!
If the double doors to the right are opened, you don't have choice. Don't exit to the wide open area, just shoot whoever shows up.
If the double doors to the right are closed, you have choice. Either open one of the double doors, don't exit and kill whoever shows up, or just stay in
the room and don't touch anything!
Switch to Raymond. Exit the small corridor and check the door nearby, it leads to a very small room. Be careful, though- sometimes there's a terrorist
inside. Then go right and stop. Another hard part, damn it!
You see a corridor with 3 ways- 2 to the right, 1 to the left. The left way is a dead end. The other 2 are dangerous. The first to the right is what
interests us. But most of the time, there's a tango in the small room to the left. You have some options- either tell your teammates to go to this small
room while you engage on the enemies to the right, or lob a flashbang into this room without showing yourself to the tangos to the right, of course!
The flashbang is sometimes wiser, but he can run away. If you're going to use your team, you have to synchronize your actions- you have to kill those to
the right before your team proceeds thru the corridor.
OK, how to deal with the bitches in the room to the right? There are 2-3 tangos in there, aiming at your position. If you just show up on the doorway,
you'll die. Better stuff the room with gas or flashbangs, then rush in and kill them. Or, try peeking a little, kill the first one, peek more, kill the
next one.
After you're done, proceed ahead to the next room. When going down the 4 stairs, be careful, stick to the left wall and aim to the right. Then aim far
ahead and scope, if you need to. Start slowly moving right and kill the bastard(s) far ahead to the door (notice how this room is similar to the other
one far behind you?- a window and a door to the left, leading to a big hall). Be careful, you might not notice any tangos behind the shelves!
Then, you have to clear the big hall left of you. If you have time, use a HB sensor to find out how many and where are they. If not, you have 3 options:
enter the door to the left and aim right; kill them thru the window; enter the door far ahead where you killed the bastards and aim left.
A wise solution is to tell your team to open&clear the door to the left, then kill the remaining tangos thru the window, or thru the other door.
Go to the big hall, don't move left! Tell your teammates to stay near the double doors to the right. Then hug the wall and start moving to the left,
aiming to the left, perpendicularly to the wall. (Use a HB sensor to find the tango to the left and you'll understand what I'm talking about)
You have to kill a terrorist to the left and don't get shot from these to the right, in the wide open area. Then go back to the double doors and enter.
This is another hard part! You're in a corridor formed from the wall to the left and the long truck to the right. Keep moving forward, slowly. Your goal
is to kill 5-6 terrorists to the right. Reach the corner of the truck and scope on the "Audi A6"-like car ahead- there are tangos all around and behind it!
(If you want, throw gas grenades or flashbangs over the truck)
Sometimes, you can notice a distant hiding tango's head showing up from behind the car- kill him. Then start turning to the right, there are 2-3 more
bastards there, in the distance. Try to kill them one by one from a safe angle.
When you're done, switch to Noronha. Release the team hold and the RED team will start moving. This is to verify that the areas we moved thru are clear.
Issue "team hold".
Here's the next hard part. You see the double doors ahead- you have to clear the whole hall behind them. Start by opening the right door from the double
doors and shoot the bitches ahead. Then, without entering, start turning left (open the left door) and shooting everyone you notice. Hot spots include
the balcony and the small windowed rooms behind the two rightmost cars (both Audi A6). Be extremely careful! Then start very slowly moving right and
killing one by one the tangos on the balcony above, to the left. Don't scope, your AUG is enough accurate. Be careful, sometimes there's a tango down,
ahead of you.
After you take out all the tangos on the balcony, enter and move a little left, notice the stairs to the left and the white double doors near the stairs.
Go right of the white double doors and kill 1-2 enemies. Then move left and kill the bitch at the end of the stairs to the left. Then go back to the white
double doors and climb up the stairs left of the white double doors. Secure the balcony and DON'T enter the next pair of white doors. This is the last
hard part and it's somewhat tricky for the first time!
Gutierrez is inside, with 2 guards. As you know, he must stay alive, but in the crossfire, you can accidentally kill him with this auto-aim.
There are 3 ways to accomplish this mission.
Solution no.1. This is the easiest one. Don't wait for the RED team. When on the balcony, tell your team to open&clear the white double doors on Zulu (again,
I'm speaking about the white double doors on the balcony, after you go up the stairs near the other white double doors). Wait for your team to arrive. Then get
back down, move past the other white double doors (damn, I'm sick with repeating this over and over!) and climb up the stairs to the left, then go right.
Now, TURN YOUR AUTO-AIM OFF!!! You mustn't kill Gutierrez! Then, equip a flashbang, or a gas grenade (stupid, DON'T equip frag grenades!), open the door
without showing up and throw the flashbang inside (throw it, so it bounces off the open door right into the room). Issue Zulu and DON'T enter. Let your team
do the job.
Solution no.2. More complicated. Use the RED team. Get to your final Charlie-waypoint, it involves the white double doors on the balcony. Set the breaching
charges. Wait for the GREEN team to set the breaching charges on the other door. Then issue Charlie and go! (Do I need to tell you again to turn off that
auto-aim?!)
Solution no.3. Just like solution2, but use the GREEN team. Wait for the RED team to set the explosives on the white double doors, set your breaching charge
on the door and issue Charlie! Go and get this bastard, Gutierrez!
All the final solutions are easy, but no.1 is my favourite. The final actions of the mission are easy, what you have to care about is the auto-aim, so you
don't kill Gutierrez accidentally.
Hey, it's another mission successful! And, can you imagine, we're at the final mission! Can you believe this?! We reached the damn final mission!!!
Steel Rose
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
2007.02.04-1800
Preferred ROE: Assault/Infiltrate
Objective(s): Prevent bomb detonation
Neutralize Gospic
Neutralize All terrorists
Tangos: Only 39! (For a final mission, I have expected at least 50-60)
Hehehe, I finished "Whisper Blade" on the 3rd of August and then I was on a short seaside holiday. It was really wonderful and I met very kind-hearted
people. I was in Varna, the best seaside town on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast- I recommend you to save some money and visit this wonderful town! I came
back on the 10th of August and I'm continuing this guide on the 12th of August, so you'll have to forgive me for the 9-day inactive period. But I need a
rest, too. For 9 days I succeeded in having fun without worrying about "this flashbang and the double doors over there". I stayed calm and didn't even
think about a 5,56x45 mm Steyr AUGs and fluid-opening doors. But everything good comes to an end and my holiday is also over. So I'm back and
I have to complete this walkthru. So let's do it!
OK, this is the last mission. If you did everything right, you should have all your men (and women) still alive. This mission is very hard (although not
as hard as "Lion Shadow") and it needs the best men (and women, ;-))) you have. You can still accomplish it, though, even if some of your operatives have
died. But using the best agents is a must.
The mission is extremely comprehensive. You have to snipe, to be stealth, to storm rooms, to secure areas, to disarm a bomb. The key to success is to kill
as much as possible tangos without getting spotted. Until you reach the bomb, you have to be damn quiet! After that- it doesn't matter, because you have
only to kill all terrorists. So we're going to use a mix of loud and silenced weapons. Also, we'll use teams to guard some particular areas.
Good team-switching and operative-switching is also needed for success. What I think about "Steel Rose" is that it is an entertaining mix, including elements
from "Lion Shadow" (lotsa ways you can fuck up the mission), "Whisper Blade" (lotsa nasty environment) and "Stone Cannon" (lotsa terrorists and just plain
shooting). So prepare for some serious action, for the last time.
We're going to use 2 assault teams and 1 sniper team. The team layout is a little unusual. For best results you'll have to modify the GOLD team's route.
GOLD is the sniper team. What I mean is that their constant sniping position is on the rooftop of the building, in front of which you start- the correct
position is behind an air-vent. Here's an ASCII scheme of this damn rooftop.
___________________________
| a | a=TV antenna
| a ---adv---- | adv= big advertising board
| | av= air-vent
| av vs vs | vs= vent-shaft
| X a | X= GOLD team's sniping position
| |
So they should be sniping from the X, looking over the ledge, scoping on the windows and the roof of the hotel ahead.
The team layout:
I took Filatov for his 62-level Demolitions (he'll have to breach doors). Price can do a better job (he has 71 Demolitions), but he works better with
Weber. Also, you can give them all silenced weapons, but I always like to have a loud one, too. Roger McAllen is the best demoman, because he has a very
high Assault skill. You can give Price a Demo Kit, if you think that McAllen might get shot.
The correct uniform colour is euro camo, I think. Right now I'm trying to find out if tan camo and green camo work good with this mission, but I can't figure
out- so stick to euro camo. Anyway, give them all heavy armour (this is a tough mission!) and a mix of loud and heavy .50"-cal Desert Eagles and SR-2s.
All weapons loaded with FMJ bullets- you have no right to make mistakes!
Start with Weber and issue "all hold". Start moving forward and to the left. Pass the second pillar (counting from right to left). Scope on the ladder ahead
and start sniping out the 2-3 tangos on the rooftop. After your first loud shot, be aware that some tangos might come to you from the doorway ahead of you
(a little right) and from the door to the left, near the "Carnaval" poster and the umbrellas. Whatever you do, don't move, stay there, your back to the wall
and the second pillar 1 m to your right.
What you need to do is kill the snipers on the rooftop- they are 2 or 3, then kill the other 3 tangos. 2 of them will come from the door near the poster,
the other one from the doorway, leading to the small yard ahead of you. Keep waiting until they come out (sometimes they will hide and wait for you).
The way to deal with the tangos coming from the "carnaval"-door is to use the thermal and kill the first one right when he opens the door and after that kill
the next one.
A tough situation is when all the tangos rush together. You have to be damn quick! Keep constantly checking these 3 spots:
1. the roof
2. the "carnaval door"
3. the doorway to the small yard
and you should be OK.
Another shitty thing happens, if one of the bitches on the roof hides somewhere, instead of getting killed. You can either wait for him to show up (sometimes
he will climb down the ladder and crouch, then kill you- don't let him do this!), or kill him after that. As you can assume, this is one of the hottest spots
in the whole damn mission.
A wise idea is to use Price to help you. Just don't let him go too forward and get shot. Tell him to stay 1 m to the left of the closer rightmost white table.
After you're done with all the bitches, stick your back to the wall, crouch and start slowly strafing left, aiming up and right from the doorway ahead (to be
precise, you have to find a window with a sniper; aim near the street lamp haging out from the wall to the right). This is a very tricky kill. You need to
shoot the sniper on the window without getting noticed. You have 3 options.
Solution no.1. The wall to the right and the third pillar will cover the window from your sight. However, there'a gap, about 2 cm wide (2 cm real-life,
not 2 cm on the monitor). With the thermal scope you should be able to see a part of the terrorist's body- shoot him! Sometimes he'll need more than 1 shot,
so this solution is not the wisest.
Solution no.2. Use a smoke grenade (you'll have to equip Price or Dieter with them from the start). So lob the smoke grenade in front of you and use the
thermal scope.
Solution no.3. My favourite. Use the leaf. I'm not joking, there's a green leaf hanging left from the 3rd pillar (there's a plant in front of this pillar).
So stick your back to the wall behind you, strafe a little left from the 3rd pillar, so the leaf covers you from the sniper's view and shoot his head with a
.50"BMG round thru the leaf! Very professional!
OK, now get moving. First, switch to Chavez and issue "team hold". Move a little forward, so you can see the srea ahead. Leave him there, near the corner,
with ROE: Infiltrate. This way he will be able to kill enemies, trying to go thru the yard.
Then switch to Price and ROE: Infiltrate. Enter the "carnaval"-door and go up the stairs, then up the stairs to the left. Issue "team hold" and open the door,
crouch. You need to kill a tango down there, in the yard below. He's crouching on a doorway down, left. Kill him with the scope of your MP5SD5.
/ATTENTION! If some of the bastards on the rooftop are still alive, they can give you a headache now. So pay extra attention on the area above you. A good idea
/is to check it a HB sensor before exiting the door. If there's someone on the roof, you'll have to kill him. It's difficult, because they will hide most of
/the time and even tell their buddies to blow up the bomb. You can lob a flashbang on the roof and climb up quickly, then kill them. Just don't go too forward!
After you're done with the bastard down to the left, switch to Weber and go to the ladder to the right, issue "team hold" and leave Price guarding the door to
your left. Climb up the ladder and immediately crouch! Stay there! This is a hard part!
Your goal is to kill all the sniper on the roof ahead (the roof of the hotel, across the street). Use the air-vent for cover. Walk close to the ledge to the
right and keep crouching. When you reach the third step of the stairs, stop. Prepare for some sniping. You'll have to use the "stand up-shoot-crouch" tactic.
You're crouching. Stand up, shoot quickly and quickly crouch. Repeat until you kill them. Then move a little left, reach the end of the stairs. Stand up and
kill the tango to the right. Then reach the X sniping position, described earlier, release the "sniper hold". Stay there. You have 2 options: either keep
sniping them with Weber, or leave the computer control him and switch to the other teams.
To describe the X sniping position even better, I'll tell you than the air-vent is double. Stay crouched to the right of the double air-vent, or stand
upright behind the air-vent, a little left.
If you want to snipe them out using Weber, then go on, it's fun. There are again 3 hot spots you need to watch- the leftside of the roof, the right side of
the roof and the windows ahead. Use the thermal scope to find them and kill them. It's nice to kill the patrolling tangos thru the windows, while they are
walking. Also, be careful with the left and the right side of the roof- there might be tangos emerging from there. Sometimes a single terrorists shows his
head from behind the satellite antennas far ahead on the roof- you have to be quick to kill him.
Just stay there, near the air-vent and keep sniping them. Don't go forward, because those down on the street will hear you and detonate the bomb!
After you're done sniping (you should have about 15-17 killed enemies by now), switch to Noronha. Go where Price is (guarding the door under Weber, on the
ledge, outside of the staircase, which is accessed thru the "carnaval"-door). Enter this door and with ROE: Infiltrate, go left and down the stairs. This
is another hard part. What you will be doing depends on the door status (I'm talking about the door you reach after you go down the stairs).
If this door is closed, it's locked- unlock it, but don't open it! Then tell your team to guard it (another wise idea is to tell them to open&clear it on
"Zulu", but don't issue "Zulu").
If this door is opened, you'll have to engage on the enemies outside, near the bomb. Don't let them get near the detonator (it is between the two carriages).
When this door is opened, it's very hard to kill all the tangos outside, so don't engage on them and don't go outside. Don't get noticed. Leave your team
guarding the door from a safe angle (so they are invisible from outside) and go back up the stairs. Pass the door you entered (the door Price is guarding)
and proceed left, crouch). Look ahead thru the window and you'll see 2 windows. The lower one- you see only half of it. Scope on it, stand up and kill the
sniper on it.
***IMPORTANT! If you hear loud gunfire from McAllen's M14, don't wait and rush to the window thru which you killed the tango. Look down to the left and you'll
***see the detonator. Don't let any tango get near it!!!
Then enter the door to the right and kill the tango. Then go back to the corridor and proceed right, killing another tango. Beware from the
windows, don't let any tango from the other side of the street kill you thru the windows! Reach some stairs and go down, just to be sure that there's no one
there. Climb back up to the corridor. Go to the window, thru which you killed the sniping tango and look down to the left- you'll see the detonator. If there
are tangos around it- kill them all! Don't let any tango get near the detonator!!! Also, keep an eye on the double doors down, right of the carriages. And
beware of the windows!
When done, go down and meet your teammates. Release the "all hold". You should know what this does- Price will go to Weber and they will stay on their
snipe-waypoint, RED team will start moving to the carriages.
With Noronha, go outside to the carriages, your team following. Don't go too forward! Use the middle carriage for cover and check the are to the left. Tell
your team to guard the area behind you- to the right of the door you went thru. Then concentrate on the area between the left and the middle carriage.
Far ahead, thru a narrow passage a sniper is waiting for you. There are various ways to get rid of him- just scope and quickly kill him, or throw a frag,
or a flash grenade. When done with this faggot, check the area around the leftmost carriage (leave your team guarding the detonator, or, which is much
better, tell them to disarmd the bomb.
OK, when you're ready, pause the game and normalize your breathing- 75% of the mission is done! The bomb is disarmed and what remains to be done is kill all
the terrorists in the hotel.
First, you have to enter the 1st floor of the hotel. It's a very nasty area, with a bar and lotsa ambush points. You will do it with 2 teams- RED and GREEN.
There are 2 ways, depending on which team you're using. RED team's Bravo-waypoint is the door in the end of the narrow street, where the sniper was and
GREEN team's Bravo-waypoint are the double doors right of the carriages.
Solution no.1. Use the GREEN team. Go near the double doors, but don't enter. Wait for the RED team to reach their Bravo waypoint. Because the first floor
is a nasty mess, we will use the GREEN team to kill as much as possible tangos before letting the RED team in. Now, switch to Filatov, for his AUG. Open the
left door and don't enter! Just stay in front of the double doors and keep killing anyone who shows up from the area to the left (hot spots include 2 tangos,
hiding around the pool table, one behind a table-barricade). Use the right door for cover- there's a terrorist to the right. Tangos are hiding in the room
ahead, left, and you'll maybe have to attract them by using flashbangs. When there are no more coming from the left, open the right door and quickly kill
the bitch right! Now, issue "Bravo". Remember, all the time be careful with the stairs to your left!
Solution no.2. Use the RED team. But, first, wait for the GREEN team to reach their Bravo-waypoint (they will place a charge on the double doors). Then,
issue "Bravo". Wait to hear the breaching explosion, the terrorists' attention will be attracted by it and they will look at the double doors' direction.
This is the moment to kill them- open the door and quickly shoot them. If you have trouble with the GREEN team rushing and getting spanked, issue
"all hold" right after the explosion. If you have trouble with your team getting shot, fluid open the door and stuff the room with flashbangs and/or gas,
but do it before issuing "Bravo".
OK, when you're done with this room, issue "all hold". Now you have to choose which team you're going to lead for clearing the whole hotel. You have 3 options:
use the RED team, use the GREEN team, or just stay calm with the GOLD team and wait for the others to do the job.
Maybe you'll get disappointed by the following news, but I'm not gonna give you a detailed walkthru for clearing the 2nd and the 3rd floor of the hotel. The
reason is that if I have written a detailed guide, it would be extremely long with describing how to deal with all these small rooms, corridors, blocked
hallways, stairs and so on. I will just tell you what to expect and where to expect it.
You'll have to be careful with 2 things when on the 2nd floor: first- with the environment and the tangos around you, and, second, with the tangos above you,
who can hear the gunfire and come down to investigate.
While on the 3rd floor, you have to deal with even more shit: any survivors from the 2nd floor, the bitches on the 3rd PLUS any investigators, coming down
from the roof.
There are two basic ways to clear the hotel.
Solution no.1. Follow the default plan and do it one floor at a time, begin with the 2nd, then the 3rd and at last, go to the roof and kill the bastards there,
after you have killed everyone else.
This is a little complicated, so, listen carefully. For solution1, I'm going to tell you only how to clear the hotel. When you're done with it, read the
paragraphs after solution2, there's described how to deal with the people on the roof.
OK, how to clear the damn hotel?! You have to do it carefully, room by room. There are 2 staircases. Each staircase leads to the 2nd, the 3rd floor and to
the roof. The 2nd and the 3rd floor have the same room placement. While working with your team on a floor, be sure that the other team is working on the
other floor. What to expect? Lots of small rooms, some of them connected to other rooms. However, there aren't many terrorists, what you have to beware
most of is the environment. Watch you six. You can leave teammates behind you. Just take it SLOW! Clear the rooms one by one, if you want, tell people to
open&clear rooms while you're guarding their back. Also, in one of the rooms, there's a terrorist behind a table-barricade.
What is strange is that most of the enemies are lurking in the corridors, instead of hiding in the rooms. A wise idea is to leave your team guarding a set
of rooms and inspect all the corridors on the floor, then start checkin the rooms. With the rooms- be careful with the toilet areas and furniture. With
corridors- be careful with corners. If you have the nerve, take your time and use the HB sensor! It's very useful when preparing to storm a room. Use the
sensor to check the corridors, but be quick, because when checking rooms with the sensor, you have time, and when using the sensor in corridors, the enemy
might show up right in front of you.
Another thing, when in the corridors, beware of tangos in the corridors of the other floors. For example, you're in the corridor of the 2nd floor and a tango
shoots you from a corridor on the 3rd floor- get it?
When you're completely done, follow the waypoints until you reach the Charlie breach-waypoints. How to handle the roof? Read the paragraphs below solution2.
Solution no.2. I'd prefer this one. Slowly, quietly and unspotted get to the roof and kill everyone there. Then clear the other floors, first the 3rd, then
the 2nd. I like this way of play, because I like first to assassinate the main leader (and relax), then concentrate on the small fuckers, without worrying
about what's waiting for you after you kill the scum. Eat the meat first is the rule.
OK, enough bullshit, let's talk about the serious things- how to clear the roof? Again, there are a couple of ways. You can either use the default plan
(which seems wise), or show up thru a door, throw all your grenades to attract attention, then hide, then switch to Weber and snipe the bitches from the
other roof. Another way is to shoot the pyramid-windows up high (I'm talking about the windows right above the tree in the centre of the hotel), from the
3rd floor. Tangos will come to investigate, they will gather around the pyramid-window and you can either shoot them from the 3rd floor, or try to snipe
them with Weber. Alternative solutions are fun, but they don't work 100%, so I'll help you with the default plan.
If you're using the RED team for the final approach on the roof, read this paragraph. Your Charlie breach-point will lead you to a narrow corridor with a
small staircase, leading to a small table, straigh ahead, Gospic should be there- kill him. If he's not there, don't worry. Just move forward and check the
left, then the right. Use the pyramid left of you for cover and move to the small table, carefully, look right, around the vent shaft, then go to the left
of the table. Now, notice how the roof has 2 levels? One level, with small corridors, and a second level, higher, where the pyramid-window is. Tangos should
be hiding on level one, near the small table and left of it, on level two. These are the main hot spots.
OK, I described the area, now I'll tell you what to do. You're playing RED, right? Well, don't place explosives, just go thru the door, issue "Charlie" and
move forward, on level two, kill anyone around the small table ahead, remember to check left&right, then move to the table, using the pyramid as cover. When
near the table, check left, then go down to level one near the table and secure it. With GREEN team's help, you should be done by now. If not, secure first
all the corridors of level one, go up on level two and secure the whole area around the damn pyramid. That's it!
If you're using the GREEN team for the final approach on the roof, read this paragraph. Go thru the Charlie-door (no breaching) and issue "Charlie". Check
ahead, but go left, you'll get into level one, near the table. Go back to the door, now move forward and turn left, up the stairs. You're in a corner- turn
left and kill anyone you see. That's it!
If you don't want to waste time reading all this, just pick any team and follow its waypoints and hope that you'll be lucky. Just don't forget that there are
tangos on level one and sometimes around the pyramid, and you should be OK. Don't forger, Gospic, unlike Gutierrez, will try to shoot you on sight!
And, here's my bonus. An ASCII scheme of the roof and the possible tango encounters.

Arghhh, this was a tough one, it took me 25 minutes (I'm not very good at ASCII-art)!!! Anyway, I hope it's useful. Note that there are 7 "E"-s on the scheme,
but these are locations, not enemies, which means that there are less than 7 terrorists (w/o counting Gospic). They are 3-4, I think. Plus, if they get south,
to the bottom of the scheme, Weber will snipe them out, so concentrate on the west and on the north areas. Seldom do terrorists go to the east side, but be
careful.
Well, looks like that's all! Haha, the walkthru part for this mission was fun to be created, it took me about 4 hours. I had to use cheats (disarmbombs;
toggleUnlimitedPractice) in order to complete the guide for this mission. There's nothing more to be said- since you have reached this far, you should have
no problems clearing the roof- there have been much harder situations in the game before, right? So just be careful and that's all- the last mission complete!
Hey, don't get upset if you don't do it from the first time! Of course, you'll have to replay the mission a couple of times, but trust me, it's easier than
"Falcon Hour" and "Lion Shadow"! If you want, you can even let some of your people die, but TRY TO HAVE NO CASUALTIES!!! I hate losing people!!! Try to
beat the game with all the RAINBOW operatives alive! They do deserve it!
6.Some notes, tips, tricks, misc.
AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!! The walkthru is ready and I'm outta my mind with joy!!! Damn, it was a hard time completing it!!! But it was nice and I hope you'll
like it! I finished it on 12th of August, 19:55.
And I don't know what more to add- I'm sure there's something left behind, but I don't feel like adding new info, because after you finish something, you
think it's perfect, you're happy with it. You got almost everything- tips, tricks, walkthrough (I wrote it correct, see?) plus you have even some private
info on me. I just don't know what to add. And, I think that some things should be left on you to find them- like safely opening doors and so on. What
matters now is that I don't want to think any more about anything, related to Raven Shield!!! Yes, the game is almost perfect, but I think I deserve a
break, I'm tired of thinking which is the best way to bounce a flashbang off the door, or how to kill a tango thru a door with a single shot. I just want
to relax and enjoy the real life, because from the 2nd of July until today, the 12th of August, I couldn't think about anything else but when I'm going to
finish this document.
Now's the time to ask you to forgive me for some mistakes, that I have probably made. Forgive me for everything you didn't like and remember the main idea
of every computer game: HAVE FUN!!! Please, don't e-mail me about the game or the walkthru in the next 2-3 months, because I want to forget it and concentrate
on the real life. Maybe I will delete the game from my hard drive (don't hate me for this, please).
And some info for this file. It uses long rows, about 160 characters per row (the standart is 60 chars/row), so you'll probably need to use word-wrapping.
Long rows exist because of my resolution- 1152x864 and it was not too wise to use it for word-processing, but who cares? What matters is that the walkthru
is done! I won't update it, I want to forget it, because it squeezed all my brains out!
At least I'm happy with it and I can hope that you'll like it. Maybe it's a little late, but it's good, trust me!
I don't know the official system requirements for the game, but I think that the game will need at least:
A PC with a Pentium III/1 GHz processor (or ThunderBird 1 GHz CPU), 128 MB RAM (preferably DDR-266/PC2100) and a GeForce2MX400/64 MB AGP4x video-card.
I will recommend a 1.8 Ghz Pentium4 (or ThoroughBred-B XP1700+) with 256+ MB RAM and a GeForce4MX440/64 MB DDR AGP4x video-card.
There's nothing more to add. Except the most important thing, the...
7.Credits
Hey, this is the most important part of this document, so don't skip it! We'll go, as always, like the guys, who composed the credits for
Arkanoid2-Revenge Of DoH, my favourite phrase when writing the credits-part:
BIG WET ONES GO TO:
First of all, I want to thank my mother for buying my PC (originally it was a Duron/750, 128 DDR266,
GeForce256/32 MB, etc- in 2001).
I want to thank all my friends, who kept encouraging me while I was writing this. Special thanks will
go to:
Dimo (X)- man, you're a nice guy, thanks for your friendship and support and for the long
conversations about tactics, ammo, women and everything what guys talk about.
Steffan (MinD|_eSs)- thanks for the friendship, and one advice- play more tactical shootes, leave
NOX for a little while!
Vladdy/Vladimir/Vodkata (T-Rex)- hey, man, thanks for the friendship and... will you lend me your
10 kg dumb-bell?
Chavdar (Venom)- for playing Raven Shield with me for the 1st time.
George- well, you're not as cool as my best friends, but you sold me Raven Shield for 2$, so I'll
thank you, too!
Big "Thank You" to the girl with the blackest hair and the most beautiful eyes in this world, she's
from Varna-city (she's working in the "Shrek" Pizza/Salad/Grill restaurant), for making me think
about some other things instead of guns, ammo, Raven Shield and for making my seaside holiday so nice!!!
Special thanks to Slavi Denchev, back in 1989, for giving me the first touch to computers!!!
And to Iva, Slavi's colleague, who had me sitting on her lap while playing Karateka!
I want to thank all my English teachers, especially Mrs. Savova, Mrs. Alexandrova and Mrs. Mihailova.
Thanks to Maxim R. Popenker, who gave me many info on the weapons, go visit his site at: http://world.guns.ru
I want to thank the guys from ES-Computing, too, who created the wonderful text-editor, EditPlus v1.25,
which I used to write all this.
And all the companies, who created the hardware I'm using (AMD, Kingston, TITAN, Quantum (not
Maxtor!), Samsung, LogiTech, GigaByte, nVidia, Genius (for my 7$ speakers))!
Special credits to Bernd Wolffgramm and everybody, who works for the Dirty Little Helper! You are great, guys&girls!
I want to thank MicroSoft (don't hate me for this one, please!) for creating Windows 98SE, because
this is my OS (an illegal copy, of course, don't blame me!).
Also, the guys from InterNet&Games club "TOXX", because I saw&played Raven Shield there for the first time.
And, last, but not least, Red Storm and Ubi Soft for... for what?! For creating Raven Shield, of course!
Oh, yes, thanks to Tom Clancy, for writing all the books and for the idea about the RAINBOW team!
I WON'T FORGET TO THANK YOU ALL, WHO HAVE THE PATIENCE TO READ THIS DOCUMENT AND ENJOY PLAYING RS!!!
THANK YOU, EVERYBODY!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
