"simple-minded" people & removed sn, got really annoying.

v0.80 7/17/04 - Notices, FAQ, Intro: General Idea

v0.78 7/4/04 - Corrections, the new circled section, the Shooting Star
(All thanks to Insomniak)

v0.73 6/26/04 - Cross, Heart Line, Guy from Lego, New Section (combo),
Made my own Character set for Gunbound since the other link

v0.62 5/22/04 - Human Stick Figure (useful Korean letter), Website
Permission to have this guide (dlh).

v0.60 5/14/04 - Found out some can be used not just in Gunbound,

===================
[ I: Introduction ]
===================
---------
*Opening*
---------
I have made this guide because many people would like to find a way to make
symbols in which can be made with combining characters. These symbols can
appear when are done in Gunbound when sending messages. Recently since v0.40,
I found out that Gunbound uses Korean font (EUC-KR). Some symbols like the
phone can only be made in Gunbound or unless you installed the korean font.
These characters used to make symbols in Gunbound are Extended ASCII
(A.K.A. ASCII-II) but in Korean font.

*Examples (in "Fixedsys" font not "EUC-KR"): § ® ¼ è ñ
You may see the symbols normally with different fonts like "fixedsys". But in
gunbound, you can't see these characters normally the symbols made by their
combinations are seen instead because their fonts are in "EUC-KR".

To make the symbols, you take 2 characters and type them in one after another.
To make those characters, you hold alt and type in the codes on the Num Pad
(numbers on the right of your keyboard). After you release the alt button, the
character is entered.

---------
*Example*
---------
To do the star (filled), you have to write ¡Ú
The coding is:
¡: 173, 429, 685, 0161
Ú: 0218
*all code uses the numbers in the num pad*

This means to do the the star, you have to:
-Hold alt, then type either code of ¡ and let go. (Alt+173)
Right after you see ¡,
-Hold alt, then type the code for Ú and let go (Alt+0218). Now you can see the
star symbol.

>>Simply:Hold Alt, 173 release, Hold Alt, 0218, release Alt.
Graphical:

(keys)
ALT - - - - - - ALT - - - - - -
1 7 3 0 2 1 8

(displayed)

¡ (star)

-----------------
*List of symbols*
-----------------

This page contains many symbols made in the EUC-KR font.
Regarding the number codings, you can still use the alternate codes mentioned
in this guide. If you want to see all the symbols and see a lot of blocks, you
need to install korean font from your OS's setup disk (seek technical info).
EUC-KR page - "http://home.comcast.net/~sengu87/charset.html"

*notice - Not all are in there because it would be really difficult to write
them all out.
-----------------------
*Tips Using this guide*
-----------------------

If you are looking for the codes of a symbol, copy 1 character at a time and
paste it in the find window (Ctrl+F) to search for the code

----------------------
*Problem with symbols*
----------------------
I've seen that some people can't make any symbols. Sometimes they get the
extra characters but the combinations of them won't work. I've played Gunbound
with a computer using Windows XP from the US and I have not tested with any
other regions. A person from canada, for example, can't make any symbols THE
SAME WAY as my computer and the alt codes there are way different from the US
Operating System (if you don't know, Windows XP is an example of an OS).

Anyone who have this same problem should e-mail me and I can make a note here
to help others from wasting their time to see what's wrong; unless you are
trying to find a new way to make those symbols with your computers. E-mail
me also if you get a good result from your experiment.
Make sure that you can't make ANY symbols that you have recently tried here.

-------------------------
*General idea this Guide*
-------------------------

I'm no super genius that knows everything. This is just a guide to get you
started and get the basic symbols you usually see. There are many more that I
can't show because I have a life if you know what I mean. I can't spend all my
time finding all of them. These stuff in a wide view is not just in Gunbound.
The game just uses the fonts and characters that include these symbols.

I'm not a programming type of person but more of a fixing/installing with
Hardware/Software of computers and building computers too. Stop telling me
that something is wrong and got the wrong idea. Just enlighten me and I can
make the fixes in my updates. Thank You for your cooperation if you are
reading this. (considering most people just skip over this section)

=============
[ II: Codes ]
=============
These are the codes you enter to make characters which you combine to make the
symbols explained in the next section. Some characters, it can be entered with
different setsof code so you can use either one. These characters and more can
also be found in the Character Map (a program Windows have).

[ VI: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)]
=======================================

Q: I can't find a certain symbol/The certain symbol isn't in this guild

A: Well then it's either in the EUC-KR page I mentioned or I haven't found it
yet. Please send me the symbol codes to be put on this guide for other to
look at. Thank You.

EUC-KR page - "http://home.comcast.net/~sengu87/charset.html"

Q: How do I make symbols on my Guild name?

A: These symbols can only appear in gunbound so it won't show up in the
Gunbound International website. But this doesn't prevent you from making
the symbols. I think you just do the code like what you do normally in a
message but I've never done it before. Can anyone confirm it? I've had
people e-mailing me about it. They did 8 codes to make 4 symbols but it
says "exceeded the maximum characters" or something like that.

Q: How can I make my circled letters easier without codes?

A: Some person made a program that puts all the letter in a circle. The
evaluation version needs you to advertise about the program to keep using
it. To recieve the full version, he makes you send him avatars to get it.
Otherwise, make the circled letters the old fashion way with the codes.

*Messages from Author*

Don't message/mail for nothing, I already had enough IMs and don't
want any useless messages and spam.

I'm not currently active in Gunbound anymore so your replies might be delayed
due to my priorities and my interests that are moving on.
Notice that this guide is not to version 1.0 yet because I am willing to
improve this guide in the future if contacts from you guys are of interest to
me and not just to lecture me.

I appreciate for any help I get! Most of these I got in random place while
playing Gunbound and making experiments on the characters.

If you think this guide is useful like many compliments I got, just rate this
guide as useful. No need to contact me. ;)
